Something you hardly ever hear when 2 people are arguing and disagree, "I don't know..." It is refreshing to see people disagree in a civil manner. They are speaking to each other in conversational tones, without having to resort to shouting, as if saying it louder makes it right. Ultimately, very disappointing to see young people that have been fed filtered information all their lives to the point that is all they know, and simply parrot and defend that information, without ever questioning it or considering an alternate view point. Where have I seen this before? I know I just saw it... where, dammit? 2, 1, x. Did I do that right? I learned to say... "I don't know ... TLDR

Schlossed and confused: When panic leads to an Earley hire
PTINS replied to GreenspointTexas's topic in Baseball
So, does TAMU's course of conduct in willingly and knowingly paying coaches at TAMU while said coaches were employed by competing universities compromise their position? "E-Rob" (Elijah Robinson) was paid and coached A&M football for over 3 weeks after he had accepted a coaching position at a competing university, including actively working against TAMU by recruiting existing and prospective A&M players to play for Syracuse University. "... ex- former Texas A&M employees " FIF him. -

Not exactly sure what they hit, bit it appears to be 2 radio-telescope sites and the Command Center. It may not be in Russia, but it's role seems to be a critical piece of Russia's Deep Space communications, and communications with the various earth orbit satellites. It looks like Ukraine is regaining the momentum it had before the US influenced "Tom Herman Turtle-ing" of the UK war effort. The near open season on Russian war related infrastructure will pay dividends well beyond the immediate benefits to Ukraine. Sanctions will prevent Russia from monetizing the oil & gas production and reserves in a manner that lets them build and rebuild critical assets. The secondary influence of the sanctions on China will further reduce Russias access to critical $$$ needed for their own rebuild. Of all the good things I read to get caught up, this may be the best news. (Okay, maybe second best; Putin playing footsies with North Korea, and bringing South Korea and Japan to the table is muy bueno). Prime Minister Kaja & President Ursula were very outspoken out of the gate in their support of Ukraine, and have consistently maintained that posture. The supposed leaders of the western world have cowed down to the "what's in it for me?" mindset, at the expense of the slaughter of innocents in Ukraine. I realize those protectionist and isolationist ideals probably get you re-elected, but good v. evil should never be an issue. Thomas Jefferson would be proud as fuck for them, as am I. Thank you all again for the contributions and insights you bring.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out

Corey Redding came from North Shore. End of Story. During his recruitment, one of our commits was asked if he was going to tell Corey to come to Texas. He replied, and I'm paraphrasing here, "That's a grown ass man, I'm not telling him shit!" We need a few of those bad ass'. Texas not having coaches that could recruit and develop kids from a challenging environment is more of an issue with the Texas supporters and coaches than the schools they came from. The worst decade in the history of Texas football coincides with Texas moving away from North Shore, and others. Maybe if they changed their name to North Lake ... -
TM-76, Mace, Surface-to-Surface Cruise Missile, circa 1959-60. The Mace was a streamlined, more advanced version of the Matador winged cruise missile. Originally designated TM-76, the Mace was designed and built by the Martin Company (later Martin Marietta). Development of the missile began in 1954. The missile was powered by a turbojet engine which could produce 5,500 pounds of thrust. At launch, boost was provided by a solid-fueled motor attached under the vehicle’s tail. The solid rocket booster could produce a thrust of 100,000 pounds. Mace improvements over the Matador included a lengthened fuselage which doubled the vehicle’s fuel capacity. This resulted in increased range and warhead capability. Mace production began in 1958, and there were ultimately two versions of the missile. The Mace A, designated TM-76A, carried a Goodyear ATRAN terrain comparison guidance system.

Tumen River - Britannica Tumen River forming the northeastern frontier of North Korea with China and Russia. The Tumen originates on Mount Paektu (9,022 feet), the highest peak of the Changbai Mountains along the China-Korea border. Flowing swiftly through mountainous, heavily forested districts, it is the third longest river in Korea, with a length of 324 miles; but its drainage basin is only 4,059 square miles, and the plain area is formed only downstream, in the southeast. It is navigable for only 53 miles. The districts through which it flows contain mining industries. The Tumen has been crossed for years by North Korean refugees defecting across the Chinese border. The river is considered the preferred way to cross into China as it is shallow and narrow. In some areas it can be crossed on foot, or by short swims. It also freezes in winter allowing dry crossings. In looking at Google Earth, the largest boat on the river is ~ 75 feet long, and nothing to speak of in terms of an ocean going dock/port. More like a Texas River than the Mississippi. This looks like a precursor to the Houston Ship Channel before it was dredged into Galveston Bay and to the Gulf. Given the remoteness, this does not look like a significant economic venture in terms of trade. However, giving China access to the Sea of Japan, and theoretically, territorial rights by proxy into the Sea of Japan (Chinese fishing boats) would be problematic. Vladivostok is less than 100 miles from this the River, and ~ 30 miles from China at the closet point. Me thinks letting China into the hen house will result in China bordering the Sea of Japan. Where's Putin? Great party, Vlad!

Tropical Storm Allison in June, 2001 dropped 40" of rain on Jefferson County (Beaumont), flooding 70,000 houses in SE Texas( ~50 mph winds). It was unusual in that it kept moving and still dropped a lot of rain the all the way up the Atlantic coast. There wasn't anybody in that part of the terminal, other than the gate we landed at. For Security I presume. A major airport's closing down is a rare event.
-
Some offshore platforms found fish on some of the upper decks above the main deck, ~ 110 feet above the water line. I flew into IAH from SLC before they closed the airport. Very eerie feeling, dropping under the clouds, and no signs of life anywhere on the ground, no cars, no people. Only people at the airport were the National Guard, with weapons ready. My SLC colleagues were concerned I was going into a hurricane. I advised them, don't ever confuse Texas with Louisiana, or New Orleans with Houston. More important, New Orleans is below sea level, Katy is 100+ feet.

Seems like a chip shot for the good guys, but unless he's very close to his extended family, (relationship wise) having the whole fam damily up in your business when you just want a bit of independence may not be ideal. Thank you, Junior. Our family Holiday Party has 100+ people every year, my mother (age 94) and my aunts and uncles, my 20+ 1st cousins and a bunch of other cousins. There is no substitute for that kind of support network, based on generations of mutual respect. Everybody know the elders eat first, and the kids need the most support. Growing up with that instills a desire to make them proud, which can only be a good thing. In 40+ years, nobody ever got all up in my business. The only time I ever talked about business, or career moves or relocating, I brought it up. I have a lot to say grace over, and only once or twice has anybody asked me for something other than the occasional HS fundraiser. Even then, they never really asked. -
Tracked v. rubber tires. Seems like most of the drone videos show tracked targets over wheeled vehicles, except for the Ladas.

Point taken. I should have qualified my post. For 95% of the country, when they ask, " Where is Port Arthur?", the answer is, "Outside of Houston." Texas UIL Regions Region 1 goes from El Paso to Dallas Region 2 goes from Killeen to Dallas to Longview to Houston, and Cypress, Klein, and Conroe Region 3 is within 30 miles from Downtown Houston ( ~1% of Texas) Region 4 goes from Round Rock to Del Rio to Brownsville to Bastrop The issue is not whether there are quality athletes in a particular school district. They are in everywhere in SE Texas (the "Houston Area"), always have been. If you're not serious about recruiting the area, it doesn't really matter. For most of the last ~ 15 years, Texas has not effectively recruited SE Texas. -
Read the NOELREPORTS post, some funny comments in there ... S-500, from Wiki - The S-500 Prometheus, is a Russian surface-to-air missile/anti-ballistic missile system supplementing the S-400 and the A-235 ABM missile system. The S-500 was developed by the Almaz-Antey Air Defence Concern. Initially planned to be in production by 2014, the first unit entered service in 2021 with the 15th Air Army. Russia claims that the S-500 is capable of intercepting all types of modern hypersonic weapons; and has claimed to have successfully tested such capability. In May 2018, Russia conducted the longest range surface-to-air missile test to date with the S-500. According to reports citing unnamed sources familiar with U.S. intelligence on the program, the S-500 was able to hit a target 482 km (300 mi) away, which is 80 km further than the previous record. The first S-500 prototype went on combat duty in Moscow on 13 October 2021. However, it did not yet meet the full set of requirements specified by its operator, the 1st Special Purpose Air and Missile Defense Army. Type Mobile surface-to-air missile Place of origin The Russian Federation In service 16 September 2021 Used by Russian Space Forces Designer Almaz-Antey Manufacturer Almaz-Antey Unit cost $2.5 billion? (that's with a "B") Produced 2021–present No. built 1 S-500 regiment in service From 1 of the references ... Where is Russia’s S-500 air defense system? - By Maxim Starchak, Oct 5, 2023 MOSCOW — In late August, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu traveled to a factory of air defense systems manufacturer Almaz-Antey to inspect its artillery production, emphasizing to the company the importance of round-the-clock work, according to state-run news agency Sputnik. During the more recent tour, Shoigu and the head of Almaz-Antey emphasized the effectiveness of the S-300, S-350 and S-400 air defense systems amid Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. However, there was no mention of the more advanced S-500 Prometheus air defense system. As far back as 2018, President Vladimir Putin called for the mass production of the S-500. However, its manufacturer appears behind. According to Michael Jerdev, a Russia military expert, international sanctions levied against the country may be negatively impacting work on the air defense system. “Russia can multiply the production of air defense missiles, primarily missiles of the 48N6 family, as they are technological products with minimal dependence on foreign components,” said Jerdev, referring to the primary missile series for the S-400. “As for the production of anti-aircraft complexes and radars themselves, their production has a long cycle and depends on the supply of foreign electronic components, which obviously does not allow them to be produced around the clock.” Furthermore, an Almaz-Antey employee said, the company is experiencing “problems with machine tools and a shortage of components.” “The enterprise’s [production rate] has increased,” the source told Defense News on the condition of anonymity to speak freely, but “there are not enough workers.” Developing aerospace defense capabilities has been a major component of Russia’s State Armament Program since 2020. The program is meant to lead to the deployment of 100 battalions, which include 800 launchers made up of S-350, S-400 and S-500 systems. Under the latest iteration of Russia’s State Armament Program, also known as GPV-2027, funds are to go toward the production of the S-500 Prometheus. The previous iteration, GPV-2020, laid out efforts to create, produce and maintain military equipment. Russia began developing the S-500 in 2010, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, which tracks the status of air and missile defense systems. In 2011, Russia unveiled plans for two new plants to produce the S-500; they opened in 2016. According to Russian media, one S-500 system would cost an estimated $700 million to $800 million in 2020, and up to $2.5 billion dollars in 2023.

Starting to produce? The Houston area has always produced top tier players. Texas just quit prioritizing the Houston area. Somewhat coincidentally, Texas football sucked for 10 years. Texas All Time Running Back Recruits from the Houston area, per 247 Sports: 2005 Jamaal Charles, Memorial (Port Arthur, TX) 2007 Cody Johnson, Waller (Waller, TX) 2007 Fozzy Whittaker, Pearland (Pearland, TX) 2008 Jeremy Hills, Alief Elsik (Houston, TX) 2008 Ryan Roberson, Brenham (Brenham, TX) 2014 Duke Catalon, Aldine Eisenhower (Houston, TX) 2014 D'Onta Foreman, Texas City (Texas City, TX) 2015 Tristian Houston, North Shore (Houston, TX) 2016 Kyle Porter, Katy (Katy, TX) 2017 Toneil Carter, Langham Creek (Houston, TX) 2017 Daniel Young, Westfield (Houston, TX) 2022 Jaydon Blue, Klein Cain (Houston, TX) Texas took 5 "high rated" RB in the 4 years between 2005 to 2008, or 1.25 per year Texas took 7 "high rated" (extremely generous) RB in the 16 years between 2009 to 2024, or 0.44 per year, including 2 4-year periods of not getting any. Texas fucked up in abandoning the Houston area. -
These pics are from slides taken from the Clark AFB, Philippines, '59-60. Its hard to time stamp them, going off subject matter, and the relative sizes of the siblings. They all have greenery and a volcano, which means its not Holloman AFB in New Mexico, '61-62. Most of the US planes at Clark had the Orange accents (or course). Maybe to prevent friendly fire? My sister in the foreground, same hair and dress as in OP. Notice the cowboy hat looking at the plane. Thank you for your support!!! TLDR. I don't no where else to put this so ...More on growing as an Air force Brat ...

"Going after transformers. Nice." Transformers are to power generation/supply as process towers are to oil refining. These typically have the longest lead times to purchase/replace equipment.

Italy's PM Meloni comes out on top in EU vote, strengthening her hand ROME, June 10 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's arch-conservative Brothers of Italy group won the most votes in the European parliamentary election over the weekend, boosting her standing both at home and abroad. "I am proud that Italy will present itself to the G7, to Europe with the strongest government of all. This is something that has not happened in the past but is happening today, it is a satisfaction and also a great responsibility," Meloni said early on Monday from the party's headquarters. The EU ballot indicated that Meloni's ruling coalition, made up of parties that stretch from the centre-right to the far right of the political spectrum, saw its support climb to more than 47% from just under 43% in 2022. "It's a spur for (the government) to move forward. Italians are giving us a loud and clear message to go ahead with our work ... and if possible with greater determination." Meloni's party traces its roots back to a neo-fascist group, and her 2022 victory set the tone for far-right gains across Europe, including in the latest EU ballot, which has seen the continent swing right. However, Meloni has moderated her image on the international stage, dropping her previous anti-EU rhetoric and presenting herself as a bridge between the mainstream centre-right and her own national conservative camp, which was previously shunned. Her strong showing on Sunday came in stark contrast to setbacks suffered by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose parties were routed. Speaking on radio, Meloni said, however, it was still too early to say whether she would back a second term for centre-right European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Her group of lawmakers might prove decisive should Meloni decide to back von der Leyen, potentially giving Rome leverage over the new EU executive. I won't pretend to understand the inner workings of the EU, but Meloni's strength is good for Ukraine, I think. She won in 2022 as a far-right candidate, and quickly pivoted as one of Ukraine's strongest supporters. She is a powerful, passionate speaker who put right and wrong principles over the party politics that got her elected. I don't understand Italian, but I would support her for the simple reason I wouldn't want to be against her. Whether or not Italy's military and economic posture match her rhetoric I don't know, but she does not appear to be a sit on the fence and let's see what happens kind of gal.
