  1. The play that CW got hurt, they went 5 wide without either a RB or a TE for protection behind the sieve they call an OL. Over/under on Johnson making it to Halloween?
  2. Something about the water in the Brazos River.
  3. The plane looked like it had a lot of airspeed, and ground speed; usually those big cargo planes look like they're barely moving.
  4. I can't imagine there is an easier target than a railroad. The heat signature of a static rail line has to be a benchmark you could use to calibrate thermal imaging equipment. Dial in the bridge coordinates, and send fire a single, high explosive round; repeat as necessary. Let 'em build it. It will facilitate Ukraine's reconstruction efforts. I was looking at Tokmat on Google Earth; It is a logistics hub for vehicular traffic, but the rail line is basically a too and through line w/ a few sidings w/o any discernible logistic/lay down yards adjacent to the tracks. The rail importance appears to be that it is the only line though the area more so than the facilities available.
  5. Somebody get me some SRV, please!!!
  6. Walking unassisted and limping past the parked utility vehicle on his way to the locker room. You know, rough tough real stuff ...
  7. All Gas, No Brakes!!!
  8. I purposefully stayed away from the game thread last night, 'cause I knew what I would find on there. Yes, I shouted "F******CK!!!" at the top of my lungs after the 2nd muffed punt, but I didn't run to the board just to ridicule a hard working kid that already knew he screwed up. This morning I woke up happy (above ground), opened Surly, and dove in head first ..., and what did I read? You mean other than "... PK is finally doing what I had hope he would do on defense when he was hired." Finally? Year 1 he had no zero impact on recruiting, and inherited a mindset of entitlement and players sitting back on their heals and watching people run by you. Year 2 he had 2 DL and a LB drafted and a LB that should have been B12 Defensive POY. This year, Year 3, he has put on the field one of the strongest defenses in college football. I will wait patiently to volcano on all the "Seven win Steve" people on here, scorn those you say, "I will eat crow" and think all is forgiven, and then smile and watch the axles bend from all the weight on the bandwagon. Some here have the patience of a gnat, thick success is a point and click away, and think being born on 3rd base is the same as hitting a triple.
  9. So, you expected, PK to walk in, flip a switch, and take Herman's poorly coached retreads, with a staff that was hired for him, most (all?) of which he had never worked with, and turn them from soft marsh mellows into a life taking, ball-hawking defense? Red Foreman would like a word with you. The DL and LB play has gone from the weak link to the strength of the team in a short time. 2 sacks in the first 3 plays is something you don't see every week. Like Never!!! The DB's are good players, just not fast. The younger and faster guys are learning. I'm betting we get some top shelf guys in a few months. Now, if we could just find someone who can catch a punt...
  10. This! @immamac, you Rock!!! You check a lot of boxes, friend. "I'm going to go spend some time with the kids ..." ❤️ Killer job on the brisket, on top of everything else. very enjoyable day. Ambled through the other tailgates, ... the "Texas Cheer & Pom Girls Alumni" tent ... Damn!
  11. Consider that most of the team completely out-talented guys in HS, and never had to be "coached up" to perform at a high level. They will make mistakes, learn, and get better. Ant Hill, for example, will be a great player at Texas, but he will make obvious mistakes. Sark is not responsible for the mistakes, he is responsible for coaching it out of him. Hayden Conner's false start on play 1 is not on Sark; poor Hayden can't play OL with his head up his ass. Sark did not throw a bad pass last night, or drop any passes. He did call the game, and that is squarely on him. Perhaps the best way to get guys into the game early was to get physical early. We stubbed our toe big time out of the gate, and it got worse. Other than the busted long run for a TD, the defense played solid. Too many hungry guys there, they will be ok. Much more important to finish the games strong. The team will be okay. Now for some of our weather-vane fans ...
  12. I'll be there 4ish.
  13. brat? He was a teenager last year, playing against Saban's dynasty and teams with covid super seniors, with a rebuilding roster, swiss cheese OL, like going to a gunfight with a 6 shooter and 2 live bullets and a blank. He was still only 19 less than 6 months ago; he is in the peak years of growing and maturing. Unfortunately for you, that ship sailed a long time ago.
  14. Yes! Not sure if they're included as best receivers ever, but each of them delivered iconic plays in the history of Texas Football. 1970: Cotton Speyrer with a 45 yard catch & run for a TD, to take a 20-17 lead over UCLA with 12 seconds left, preserving the #2 ranked and defending National Champion's 23 game winning streak, paving the way to a 30 game streak and the 1970 National Championship. I remember this day; we were playing football in the front yard, and my friends older brother came flying out of the house, blowing the screen door off the house, jumping and shouting, "We Won!! We Won!!!" 1978: Johnny "Lam" Jones, 4x100 Olympic Gold Medalist, 103 yard KO return for a touchdown, taking 12 seconds off the clock (he did have to make a move to avoid the kicker).
  15. I'm pretty sure that game ball will always have a special place in his trophy case.
  16. The idiocy of some Surly-ites is amazing, and like the waves of the ocean, sadly, will never go away. It begs the question, "How the hell did you get into Texas?" Sports media across the country, including some of the most self-anointed homers in College Sports (SEC, UA, LSU, OU, etc.), are falling over themselves praising Texas for a "performance for the ages", countless examples of quality athletes whipping and demoralizing Ala-f*cking-bama on their home turf. The difficulties the homers have in stating emphatically that, ... gulp, ... "I'm an Idiot", "I was wrong about Texas", "Texas has a much better team", "Texas is is the best team in the country!", etc. etc. And yet, some of you post such ignorant things, that ..., that ... Please, go away.
  17. The duality of man ... Absolutely love the de-cleater block ..., Top 10 all time ... and ... what appears to be the second coming of the Phil Mickelson "Big Air" jump for joy.
  18. This was posted on another thread. I think it is indicative of what happens when Sark's scheming and Quinn's execution are in sync. Quinn Ewers completed 16 of 20 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns on first down. 80% completion and 11 yds/att will win some ball games. Having a pocket to stand in and deliver the ball on time makes all the difference in the world. Tremendous job by the coaches getting everybody ready to do their part, and kudos to the players for delivering.
  19. "We are stupid, stupid idiots!" Commendable when people stand up and admit, repeatedly, without any excuses, that they were wrong.
  20. 1. 1969 Arkansas. Went to the Pep Rally in Austin that week, age 13, the most people I had ever seen at one time. Texas football dominated Austin back then. Watching DKR, the man, go off script, and winning in Fayetteville on the 100th Anniversary of College Football, in the "Game of the Century" about covers it. 3. 1977 OU. Earl's TD run before the half was like watching a spooked white tail, beating OU for the first time in 7 years. The '74-'75 OU National Champions were among the best teams in the history of CFB. Pinnacle of Texas HS running backs; Joe Washington, Roosevelt Leaks, Earl Campbell, Billy Sims. "Hello, Heisman!" The ocean of fans on the Drag that night ...❤️ 3. 1998 A&M. "Run, Ricky, Run!" "If you want to play football, Go to Texas!" What's this "Little Earl" shit? Oh...okay. Following a coaching change, Ricky came back for his senior year. Winner. Being in DKR as the volume went from 3 to 11, ... straight to the veins. 4. 2005 USC. VY. I watched VY in HS for 3 years. Told my brother to come watch the HS Playoff game against Katy his senior year. Man amongst boys doesn't describe it properly. Glad Mack finally let him play his game. Long time coming after having our hearts ripped out over 30+ years. 5. 2023 Alabama. Given how good Texas was when I was young and how bad we have been for the past 15 years, this was a defining moment on the eve of joining the SEC. Texas drove a STEAK though the heart of so, so many doubters (Yeah! YOU!!!), crushing the GOAT in the process. So many good people deserved this. "... the Ox is slow, but ...the earth is patient..." - Tibetan proverb
  21. Something wrong w/ the pic. Jimbo is 5 1/2' tall and he towers over most of the band. Is the band made up of 4'11" guys so they can march in a phone booth?
