  1. they (and everyone on the Horn) are the most uninformed people in Austin. They are so incredibly lazy
  2. Tosh would be great of course, but if we get him, then we'd better have mustard to go with his fries and by all means no sling blades allowed
  3. Spanky from our gang comedy (90% of you have no clue wtf that means) would be a huge upgrade, but yeah I get your point
  4. Big 12 title. we may split with ou, but we win the one that matters
  5. Sam may not realize it today, but he will some day - he's probably the most beloved of the living former players. I've been around a long time and I can't recall a player who bled burnt orange as much as Sam, other than perhaps Earl. We didn't get the crystal ball like we did with Vince or the Heisman of Earl and Ricky, but he gave 4 years of blood and guts through some pretty rough times. He'll probably make a fine coach some day. Who knows maybe the last chapter of his UT story is yet to be written.
  6. If every player cared as much as you did, we would have won it all
  7. that's some recruiting gold right there
  8. I wanted UM as much as anyone. But, as I just posted on another thread I am increasingly excited about the Sark hire. Unlike Herman and Charlie, Sark has been humbled in life and I can speak from experience that is a very important life experience for many of us. And now he comes to TExas not as a brash 33 year old, but as a guy who has learned some life lessons and who has had the great opportunity to learn under the best program builder in the business Saban. Unlike Charlie and herman, he knows he can't win with a mid major staff. He's proven to be an excellent recruiter and a qb whisperer. As an OC he has 3 of the 5 heisman finalist. Just think about that, his offense had 3 players excel to such a level that they made the heisman finalist list. his system isn't just about the QB, but he's always had a 1000 yard rusher. AND while UM might have been a sure thing, this might end up being the better hire. If Sark delivers, then at 46 we have a long future together and won't be looking to reload in five years. If you listen to the bama side of this, they are disappointed. they really wanted sark to take over for saban when he steps down. It's been a fun 900 pages, the night crew has rocked it. I'm 100% on board with Coach Sark until he pisses me off twice. Can't wait to see his staff, no wait that didn't cum out right. At least there will be no more CUM talk. Cheers night crew - see you on the Sark thread of dominance.
  9. you listen to him and unlike herman who hadn't yet been humbled, you get a guy who has learned some important life lessons. it's not the immature brashness of herman, who like charlie didn't know what they were getting into and thought they could win on a national level with mid major staffs. Sark knows what he's getting into. Probably in large part because he was mentored by Saban who demands excellence at every level and it's not just talk, but results. I continue to think although it's not the sure thing Urban Meyer would have been, it could better. If he succeeds, unlike Urban we won't be looking for another coach in 5 years or less. Win a natty coach Sark at bama and then come win one here!
  10. I admit I've gone from disappointed to excited about this hire. The more I read about Sark and his metamorphosis since USC, the more I think we've finally found our coach. Here's a good read for those interested https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2925123-texas-and-steve-sarkisian-looking-for-successful-rebirth-together
  11. a decent read https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2925123-texas-and-steve-sarkisian-looking-for-successful-rebirth-together
  12. Talking about kick Butch Jones square in the balls if this happens, he was only hired a week or so ago to be his OC
  13. subscribed, not exactly Charlie's first year staff
  14. What about Gideon, he has supposedly done well with special teams and we had very nice special teams under Brown
  15. Do you think there's a chance he keeps Ash?
  16. Hasn't everyone read this? From Footballscoop.com. There is no fucking mention of Mike Stoops, but there is of Blake Gideon As Texas officials worked behind the scenes to bring an end to the Tom Herman era atop the Longhorns football program and find Herman’s replacement as the future of the program, a key point for Texas leaders – from athletics director Chris Del Conte on down – was a coach’s vision for the program. The Horns’ leaders received voluminous, detailed plans from candidates that addressed their vision for the future of Texas football, detailed recruiting plans, program tenets – and, perhaps chief amongst all items, a projected staff. It’s in that area in which Steve Sarkisian separated himself, along with Sarkisian’s previous experience as a head coach and his career renaissance at Alabama as offensive coordinator of the Tide’s record-setting attack. In terms of coordinators, Kyle Flood is a Sarkisian colleague now at Alabama, someone who people close to Sarkisian tell FootballScoop that Sark “likes him a lot.” Flood could be the Horns’ offensive coordinator and a key linchpin on Sarkisian’s staff. Sarkisian also remained heavily involved in play-calling even as a head coach at both Washington and USC, so that’s a key dynamic and one that we’re told Flood well understands with Sarkisian. Blake Gideon, a former Horns player who started 52 career games in Austin, has carved a niche as a top special teams coach and rising young assistant. Gideon served as special teams coordinator for Lane Kiffin’s inaugural Ole Miss squad, which capped its season Saturday with a win against Indiana in the Outback Bowl. Sources: Butch Jones making key move for OC Sources: Butch Jones making key move for OC Sources: Butch Jones making key move for OC Bret Bielema has found his offensive coordinator Bret Bielema has found his offensive coordinator Texas hires Steve Sarkisian ×Sources said there’s mutual interest between Gideon and Sarkisian to join together at Texas. At the defensive coordinator spot, Sarkisian can help Texas with a number of potential high-profile targets in a year in which defensive coordinators are very much in demand. Sources told FootballScoop that former Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, fired in November as South Carolina’s head coach, was expected to be in the mix for Sarkisian’s top defensive spot. Kevin Steele, most recently Auburn’s interim head coach and defensive coordinator, also has emerged with multiple options that could include Texas. Marcus Freeman, the wunderkind Cincinnati defensive coordinator, has elicited interest from Auburn’s new coach Bryan Harsin, as well as LSU, Michigan and Notre Dame. “Freeman would be an option,” said a source. Zach Arnett, defensive coordinator at Mississippi State, has surged in national profile and did notable work in his first season with the Bulldogs; he’s considered a name to watch at Texas and with other openings. Additionally, multiple sources told FootballScoop that a reunion of Sarkisian with defensive line specialist and recruiting guru Tosh Lupoi, who’s spent the past few seasons in the NFL, also has been discussed. One final coach to keep an eye on is former UT assistant Chris Rumph. Rumph coached outside linebackers for the Houston Texans this season, but a return to Austin could be in his future. We expect a number of these moves to become clear in the coming days.
  17. i have lots of friends I would never work with, this is just silly
  18. Last night Sermon got around 30 carries, again a prolific back gets 30 carries. Mensa would have limited both to 9 carries
  19. some alabama guys reaction to Sark to Texas, worth the listen
  20. Since we just hired our coordinators, I wouldn't be surprised if this was part of the conversation as to whether or not Sark was comfortable working with them and he probably said "you're going to pay me how much again, Ok, sure, hook em."
