  1. Having to use Wisner and Blu as our workhorse backs hurt more.
  2. I dont know that Joseph has any NFL aspirations, but he definitely has ties to New orleans.
  3. Carlos Locklyn---yes please...especially if he can coach our running backs to run over dlinemen like a wreckingball
  4. We're not the target demo
  5. One of Mack's classes...maybe his 1st was 100% Texas players. In other news if we end up not getting him Carlton is in the lead for the " if only the coaches had prioritized him angst in 9 months"
  6. Sure there is read progression....but it is also obvious that QBs feel more comfortable throwing to certain guys for various reasons. Read progression would actually mean more of spreading the ball around as a qb work though their reads, not statistically obvious patterns of favoritism from one QB to the other with basically the same receiving corp.
  7. A lot of QBs tend to have receivers they are more prone to throwing to for a variety of reasons. For various reasons Ewers was much more prone to go to Moore then say Bond. Whereas Arch looked at Bond and Wingo way more than Moore. I think Quinn also showed a greater preponderance to hit the Tight end than Arch. Player preferences, trust, whatever. Just look at Billy Pittman. He was our leading receiver in 2005 with 750 yards. In 2006 he barely broke 400 yards and in 2007 he didn't even have 100 yards receiving. Some of that I'm sure was talent acquisition, but a lot of it was also QB preference and comfort from Vince to Colt. Some QBs spread the ball around to everyone pretty equally, but most have definite preferences.
  8. This. Drew and I were same class. We weren't friends, but for him being at Westlake and me playing at a rural 3a school, our paths crossed alot. He was being recruited(not heavily, but recruited) by us and A&M and various other schools. I want to say Michigan or someone had started talking to him right before he blew out his knee, then they all disappeared. Remember, blowing out a knee was still a pretty bad recovery back then.
  9. I'd say where is Jim Bob Moffett when we need him....but upon further reflection his net worth was only just shy $100 million....
  10. Either no one was interested in paying him to transfer or Texas NIL ponied up or a combination therein.
  11. It has previously been posted that EDGE refers to Edge Rusher similar to QB DE and such.....then call it ER instead of EDGE.....
  12. Taaffe might be my favorite longhorn since Casey Hampton
  13. Look at his Bama teams, his offenses need a running back that the defense has to truly respect. We didn't have that this year. A mobile QB might help, but a true threat at running back who can pick up a pass rush is the bigger issue this year.
  14. They're just saying thanks to the fans and university...its pretty common for players whether out of eligibility or not.
  15. We'll see what happens, but if Baxter comes back full speed and Gibson makes the growth from freshmen to sophomore that he can....I can see Wisner being the 3rd back next year. I love Wisner and what he gave us this year, but he is a serviceable running back, he isn't what we need as our starter for this offense. People underplay the impact that losing Baxter had on Sark's offense this year. He lost his best pass blocking running back and largely the only back that opposing defenses would have to gameplan around. Blue and Wisner were good backs, but Georgia, OSU, Clemson, etc weren't scared of either of them. And none of them Gibson/Wisner/Blue could pick up a pass rush to save their life. So from a scheme and blocking standpoint, we became even more dependent on the pass game then we were already. As always feel free to disagree. My opinion on this isn't worth a whole lot.
