  1. Gonna have to disagree with that. Whataburger>McDonald's > Dairy Queen> Steak &Sheak > Sonic> Wendy's > Jack in the box > Carls/Arbys> 100 ft of shit> In and out A McDonald's happy meal cheeseburger is superior to in and out.
  2. If y'all haven't seen it yet, Old Henry is a pretty good recent one. Man who shot Liberty Valance is great, may be my favorite. Red River, Cowboys, Tombstone, Stagecoach, 3:10 to Yuma(the original), Unforgiven, Quigley Down Under. Is The Highwaymen a western? Not in the same class, but I thoroughly enjoy watching Paint Your Wagon, Cat Ballou, and either version of the Magnificent 7, and Ballad of Buster Scruggs whenever they come on.
  3. DKR didn't present the image as the coach of the University of Texas that Shivers wanted. Shivers didn't care for Royal's long haired music friends and such that he hung around with. I believe he is quoted as saying when they interviewed Akers he looked like he had stepped out of a Neiman Marcus catalogue and that was the image he wanted for The University. I should add that from Erwin to Shivers, Royal didn't seem to get along with BOR chairmen. To your 2nd question nope. I was a freshman, I didn't care that much I was just surprised.
  4. Like I have said previously. I thought at the time we screwed up and should have gone Barnett. Who knows. Barnett might have been more successful at Texas than Brown was....I doubt it but you never know.
  5. Well let's see: Akers-Alan Shivers wanted the anti Darrel Royal and picked Akers. Always wondered how it would have gone if Campbell had gotten the job. McWilliams-In order to heal the bleeding after the Akers hire they let Royal basically pick...we got McWilliams. Mackovic-Not sure who was running the train(I have been told Moffit but don't know that) but we wanted a coach who would modernize our offense and clean up the image of the program after Akers and McWilliams. If Mackovic hadn't been afraid of competition from hiring a quality DC he would have been much better. Mack-Deloss wanted Barnett but Royal convinced him to interview Brown. I will admit I thought we were making a mistake going for Brown, I thought he was a fabulous recruiter, but thought Barnett was a better coach and would recruit well at Texas regardless. Strong- I literally have no idea what happens with this search. Suppose we were told no thanks by multiple people including Saban and more or less panicked and hired Chuckles. AD and BMDs were basically fighting with each other. Herman- We hired the boy wonder lightning in the bottle coaching hire. BMD driven. Basic rundown of our hiring processes.
  6. That certain someone also hand picked David McWilliams so I love Coach Royal and all....but his 1st at bat was a disaster...
  7. No most of it is just spent on electronically timed 40 yard dashes and measuring hand sizes and man buns....
  8. Yeah but 1 of those coaches is in the argument for GOAT. The other 2 fit that school to an insane level. Just because they have won doesn't mean anyone can continue to win there. Fit matters. Again Kelley is a good enough coach to win games. I don't think he'll ever make the playoffs at LSU.
  9. He won't have that success. Will he win games? Yes. Will he win the SEC and make the playoffs 2 or 3 years? No. For all the LSU is easy to win NC at with a good coach.... the years 1958-2003 need to talk to you.
  10. My apologies, I wasn't meaning to so much direct that at you. It more just came about from the typical sunshine pumper vs. hater debate that runs on this board. I just thought your quote was a good one to respond to. There are a few twits on here who think Sark is purely the victim of the roster and is largely blameless and a few that somehow think this recruiting class came to be soley through the use of NIL and some well timed coach relocations....
  11. I will agree excusing all Sarks mistakes and screwups this year(and they were numerable) is polyanna. At the same time, refusing to give him or his staff any credit for anything or seeing the positives they achieved in recruiting and the possible hope it gives for the future, plus the fact that he seems to be actually addressing staff issues--- is satyanash. Yes, they had help but they also did the work and took advantage of the opportunities, Strong and Herman and their band of misfits doesn't pull off what just happened NIL and Coaching changes or not. Heck, I would argue Mack wouldn't have pulled it off either, because he would have already flown the white flag on those guys and gone else where to some low hanging easy to recruit target once they spurned him. Not a high standard to measure against I will grant you, but it is what we currently have to compare to and they made the most of it. Refusing to give them credit for it is akin to blaming them for no bag game to combat what other schools are doing. Yes it remains to be seen if the issues get addressed and we see improvement in the fall, but just as there is nothing wrong with criticism( see my posts after Okie state this year) there is nothing wrong with giving credit where it is due. Yes they benefitted from NIL and Coaching changes--primarily though NIL just leveled the playing field for them, and most of the flips related to coaching changes had been predicted long before the coaching change even occurred. Hopefully the talent infusion on D and particularly Oline and QB bear the fruit that people are projecting(we shall have to wait and see), but having what is believed to be a competent QB under center should help with at least some of the offensive issues... So no, Sark aint Bible, Royal, Akers, or even Brown yet, but the past week shows he isn't McWilliams, Mackovick, Strong, or Herman.... So in summation he currently sucks a lot less than he did at the end of the season but still has a long way to go and anyone being 100% polyanna or sataynash at this point is only deluding themselves....
  12. Neto will be fine. Yes there are questions about people who worry he is coming to play school more than football. But he has the work ethic that he will earn his scholarship. Heck, at the very least he will be superior to 70% of the olinemen we have trotted out the past 5 years.
  13. incorrect...According to Gabe if he loses body size his wingspan will shrink....
  14. Hey the man said Banks was comitting and signing Wed when 99% of people on here and elsewhere said at best he was releasing a top 3 and Sark was dumb to use his in home......He got brutalized for the summer predictions...but at the moment I am willing to let it ride.
  15. I haven't denied any of that....But that doesn't mean Flood doesn't deserve credit for doing what he could to recruit those guys. I didn't say all of the credit, but at the same time NIL/coaching changes aren't soley the reason they are coming to Texas. I'll put it this way. If Derick Warehime or Herb Hand were still our Oline coach----none of these guys would be coming to Texas right now NIL or no NIL.
