I have pronounced loudly and clearly how stupid I think this hire is. The fact that it was so loud, and so clear, means I'm probably gonna have a zillion responses that I really don't want to read.

So, here's the only reason I'm saying something now. I really don't want anyone to misinterpret the fact that I'm ignoring their responses to my prediction that we've just hired Howard Fucking Schnellenburger. I still love you as fellow Longhorns fans, and if you turn out to be right and I turn out to be wrong, I will be as fucking happy as a fucking clam (and we all know how happy clams are when they are fucking).

I am just depressed as shit by this turn of events, which I see as worse than having left well enough fucking alone, so forgive my invective.

I will love it beyond belief if I turn out to be wrong.

Then do us all a favor you whiney tool.  TAKE THAT DISCUSSION TO A THREAD THAT IS ACTUALLY DISCUSSING IF SARK IS A GOOD HIRE OR NOT AND KEEP IT THE HECK OUT OF THE STAFF THREAD!   Caps were so you didn't misunderstand what I was trying to convey.

Stoops just seemed like people looking at who was on the Bama staff/analyst list identifying who had been prior coordinators, then who had been there a little while or whose terms matched up with Sark then identifying them as a potential name

...at least that is what I am hoping happened.

because there is no fucking way that Mike Stoops is a good hire for any program at this point in time.

I agree, people don't know squat about the staff situation and 9.95ers were all caught so flat footed about the fire and hire that some (FCB) were just throwing out names that were tangetally connected to Sark and had name recognition. Of course those same idiots(FCB) wouldn't have the mental capacity to realize that it is 2000 and Mike Stoops is not a splash hire....

So, I just listened to his press conference.  And while overall I found him likable and thought he said the right things, this line stuck with me as I thought I remembered him being the OC at USC during those years when they had Joe McKnight and like 5 other 5 star RBs that all split carries.

And he was.  And in both 2007 and 2008, USC didn’t have a 1,000 yard rusher. They ran the ball fine with a bunch of different guys, but that’s not what he said.

For him to make that specific claim and clearly have it teed up as his canned answer - and for it to actually be completely false - is not the most encouraging thing in the world.   Not as bad as Herman melting down on the Houston radio show or hiring Casey Horny, but still a bit of an eyebrow raiser for me to be honest.

    1. Take that discussion. To a thread that isn't about staff hires.

  4. Well after a 2 month or so foray onto the football board my IQ is definitely reduced....anyway...Sark has some solid potential.....he kind of reminds me of a low floor high ceiling recruit....He could fail spectacularly if things go badly but could be amazing....beats Herman or a high floor liw ceiling guy like campbell..

He’s been an OL coach a long time, no doubt. Not a lot of issues with him being the OL coach.
Just not sure how concerns about the guy being an OC were going to be washed away by bringing up the fact he’s coached one NFL draft class at Bama emoji2371.png

Pretty certain the OC thing is just a title.  He'll be the OL coach.

In five seasons with the Huskies, Sarkisian went 34-29. Tom Herman's record at UT was 32-18. Sarkisian was 1-2 in bowl games. He went to the Holiday, Alamo, and Las Vegas Bowls. Scores were 19W-7Neb, 67Bay-56W, and 28BoiSt-26W. Herman was 4-0 in bowl games.

UW when Sarkisian took over might as well have been Kansas.....  Herman wouldn't have had a winning record there.

I see you and raise that to the only decent scene in the “pre-bullshit”

That's a good scene,  but even if I didn't like Rogue One I would love it for reminding me how amazingly bad ass Vader was...

I think deep down inside, Urban Meyer is pissed that Ryan Day is 60 minutes away, and many more chances in the future, from attaining some of the credit that Urban built. It wouldn't surprise me if he made the call to Texas tonight.

There's no effin way Urban Meyer (and Shelley) doesn't care about his college football legacy, where he stands on the all-time list. Saban can win another in about ten days. Day could begin his own legacy riding the coattails of Urban's hard work. I don't think the picture is just happenstance. I think Meyer could really be pissed tonight. Is he about to go...

requests are open — bête noire

    ...on Ohio State?

If so this is what he is about to do to the Big 12....

Tom Hicks himself said it on the Ticket podcast, so anyone saying it wasn’t going to happen needs to go argue with one of our most powerful and involved donors.

Well if we are quoting Tom Hicks, he also said in writing in an interview that after speaking with Mack he told Sabans agent that we weren't interested 8 months before Mack was fired after talking to Mack.  Then after they canned Mack the damage was already done and Saban wasn't interested.

be aggressive and throw deep and down the middle with some misdirection added in here and there like salt in a pot of chili could be a package.

If he is the better QB than just let him play.  I am not saying he is, but you don't do the whole bring in the package QB with a guy who has been in the system for what 2 years? to replace the 5th year QB?  QB packages are what you do for the true freshman that hasn't figured it out yet but is an amazing talent.  Not the Redshirt sophmore who should know the full playbook.  I hate the QB package idea in general....I really hate it in this situation.

Let the best QB play whichever it is. Don't be jerking them in and out of the game on some hackneed package substitutions.

Herb Hand should be fucking fired.  We had 3 years to find a center and they invested everything in Ghirmai  who looked horrible from the start.  Only to move our all conference RT to Center.  These coaches simply do not know how to put the pieces together.  This should have been our fucking roster from the start.

QB:  Sam/with Casey mixed in every 4-5 drives with a package

RB:  Bijan starting with RoJo spelling him only when Bijan is tired.

    LT:  Cosmi

    RG:  Angilau

    Center:  Majors

    RG: Karic/Okafor

    RT:  Kerstetter

WR:  Whittington/Smith at Slot, Moore/Dixon at Y, and Eagles at X.

    TE:  Wiley

That offense would have put up points from the start.  With regards to the OL, look at what Bama does.  They start all of their young talented tackles at guard.  Karic should have started there because he is head and shoulders better than Okafor.  If inside zone is not working with Ingram and your previous personnel, then find what your offense is good at and fucking run those schemes.  It's sad that they are just now learning that putting Bijan and Whittington in space is instant offense.  Where was this all fucking year?!?!  Bama and other programs get their 5 star backs incorporated day fucking 1.  We couldn't get Bijan up to speed on fucking outside zone earlier?  It's so frustrating.  It's a reflection of our head coach that simply believes his old offense works best regardless of players in there as long as they "execute".  He needs to learn to evolve, change, and utilize his team's strengths.

What the hell is that?  There is nothing dynamic that Casey brings that he needs a package for him....  If he plays it's because he beats out Same or whomever else there is on the team.  He isn't some dynamic change of pace that you create a package around.....

  13. George C Scott in a Christmas Carol has long been my favorite Christmas movie.  Watching while reading a 176 year old copy of the book makes it even better.

A Dog Named Christmas is also very good.
