  1. I think he is mocking people/not serious.
  2. I still think we get Harrell, but the people bagging on Lashlee are being somewhat ridiculous. Lashlee has coached under 2 highly successful offensive coaches. As I understand it he called plays this year at SMU, which in all seriousness is half the problem we have anyway. Also, as has already been stated, he was used as the fall guy when Gus almost burned down his program after winning the NC. You guys think Herman is an ass? Talk to people who have interacted with Gus at all. I have been told part of why Lashlee was used as the fall guy by Gus was that he spent his last season at Auburn trying to handle Gus and keep him from pissing people off at Auburn and Gus didn't like being handled. Lashlee would be fine. I think we get Harrell, but Lashlee is still far better than than Beck/committee and in no way is he Shawn Watson level.
  3. He's in his 2nd season with an established offense that he is given full credit/blame for. His offense was successful this year. If it falls apart next year, he will definitely catch blame. If he comes to Texas and installs a dynamic and successful offense he will be credited. If it doesn't work he won't be blamed as he wasn't here long enough to put his full offense in place etc. He doesn't have a ton of exposure at USC, but he has less risk in coming to Texas. Plus, he gets to get the hell out of LA and come back to Texas.
  4. Oh, and as much as Herman seems to not want to run the offense himself....I think he would be perfectly fine handing the reins to someone else and letting them run with it. I actually believe Tom would be perfectly happy CEOing the program and staying the hell away from play calling.
  5. He also has a built in excuse at Texas if it doesn't work. If Texas goes south next year and we clean house it won't stick to Harrel, he just couldn't fix Herman's mess. If on the other hand, the drop in talent and other issues at USC cause his offense to regress and he can't repeat his magic in year 2 when the offense is his.....He has much less risk coming to Texas.
  6. Herman doesn't need someone to set the world on fire to be successful. What he needs is an OC that can put a competent gameplan for the offense and give it some idea of an identity and to call plays. So he doesn't have to and so this god damn idea of offense by committee can go away. Lashlee is more than capable of that. Lashlee is a lot less meh than Joe Brady was a year ago or Ruhle was. I still think its gonna be Harrell.
  7. And that is why true realignment will never happen. If what you are talking about was to come to pass no one would agree on the chopping block. Kick out TCU? They deserve to be there more than Miss State, Ole Miss, or South Carolina. But the SEC would never allow that....
  8. This. Malzahn got cocky and lazy after NC and it almost cost him his job.
  9. Well according to a staffer at USC247 we're considering Chris Ash for OC.... USC offensive coordinator Graham Harrell has interviewed with Texas. He has not yet been offered the job. It is believed Texas would offer him as much as $2 million per year. Former Rutgers coach Chris Ash and LSU offensive coordinator Joe Brady are also candidates for the job. Scott Wolf
  10. Apply for the head coaching jobs he's interviewed for here, be an OC somewhere else, sit back and enjoy the 6 mill guaranteed money, use his connections to get a job that keeps him in the part of the country he likes.....So what if Tom Flames out next year, that isn't gonna stain Harrel. Heck Kliff got fired by his alma mater and got an NFL head coaching job. He has no risk here. Suppose he stays in USC and the talent level goes down and the depth goes down and they aren't able to repeat the offense of this year and Clay gets canned. He's in a lot worse position than coaching for Herman when Tom gets canned, because the blame for offensive failures is totally his, at Texas he has an excuse he had only been there a single season and Tom meddled.
  11. Saw this from a trojan fan site. The idea of there being “interest on both sides” backs up the earlier reporting from Zach Barnett of Football Scoop suggesting Harrell would be interested in leaving USC, regardless of Clay Helton’s status.
  12. I could go for that......although the last time we poached an all world coach from Okie lite results were somewhat disappointing.
  13. Supposedly when all the crap was flying around with Kingsbury and Harrell last year, one of the concerns was Harrell being willing to live in LA. It wasn't seen as a major selling point for Harrell as opposed to Kingsbury if I remember correctly, but I have definitely slept since then. Plus, its not like Harrell isn't familiar with the state.
  14. As for Samples? I wouldn't be excited about him as a WR coach. He hasn't exactly demonstrated an ability to coach WRs. He's a goad recruiter for sure, but I would imagine we would want someone in that position that has a longer history of developing receivers?
  15. If Texas is truly about to offer him 2 mill a year guaranteed for 2 years, there is no way I don't see this happening if they are actually meeting. I am certain Harrell wants to come back to Texas anyway, and I don't know that SC will be prepared to throw that kind of money at him to keep a coordinator from a staff that they may or may not can, but who knows. Also, our own fanatical attitudes aside......I would have to believe that Herman is in a much better position than Helton....Maybe I am wrong, but frustration and such aside, Herman has so far been far superior to what Helton has been serving up.
  16. That just makes it more plausible to me that he is meeting with Herman. Sorry, dude isn't gonna come to Texas to recruit and not take advantage of the opportunity to meet with a guy he is considering taking a job with just because he is here recruiting for his current employer..... He isn't gonna fly back to LA and than come back on his own dime....
  17. *In Futureman voice* Not sure why you'd be excited, he would just promote Warehime to DC for alignment.....
  18. You left out failing miserably at being witty and cracking wise about south austin's mom.....
  19. Fixed it for you. Proper nomenclature and all.
  20. Good game. LSU was better and more experienced. Our young secondary will improve. Thrilled with what we were able to do offensively, LSU should be the best defense we play all year by a wide margin. Secondary will grow up.
  21. Take Karic and Lindberg. The numbers will sort out themselves with the portal.
  22. Does this mean they are going to bring back Grantland and can Undefeated? One can dream. The last sports center I remember watching was when they started broadcasting live from whatever NFL training camp Tebow was at. I don't understand why they think a binch of has been NFLers in suits acting out plays in slow motion while trying to look cool is better then highlights....Just give us madden and his yellow drawings, in works better. The personal interest stories and interviews take up way too much time, just show the bleeping highlights. And no we don't care what Kobe Bryant or Dana Terasi think about some NBA players game... Its crap, you aren't social justice warriors, you aren't political pundits, you for damn sure are not some moral authority. Show the highlights and get out of the damn way!
  23. Good luck to.......F that, here's to that whiny little prick rotting for the next 4 years in that hell hole of a program and going undrafted with jt daniels and amon ra. Not bitter, just you either play for Texas or you don't. I don't wish the enemy well.
  24. 'While those visitors lists have yet to take shape, it guarantees to be one of the most talked about days of the cycle. Much will be read into any common recruit attending one of the three glorified practices. Knees are sure to jerk as hands wring, spiking arthritis medicine sales in the process." Eric must read Surley...
  25. Hell no, I don't want to catch something.
