  1. For nearly a page you've been warning about how opposing teams are going to try and injure our QB as a way of shitting on designed run plays for Arch. You close with "we will see how that works out" Not, hopefully it works out, nor I hope I'm wrong. Just "we will see how that works out". Its not a massive leap after all your warnings about Arch potentially getting hurt by opponents, that to defend your position, you are subtly supporting it with Arch may get hurt in a Minnesota passive aggressive way. So, fuck you and your shitty, "Other teams will try to break him" punk ass take, bitch.
  2. I think we will see it once or twice against Ohio State. One time against Florida. Once or twice between OU and Vanderbilt. Once or twice against Georgia. I'm not including some possible RZ packages in this mix. Then we see the formation 2-4 times per game otherwise that ends up being something else entirely. 4-7 called run plays this season before Championship Game/CFP. So, basically I think we agree if I'm reading your message correctly.
  3. It almost sounds like your subtly pulling for Arch to get hurt if Sark does run it. Also, you forgot faster, WAY faster.
  4. Playing extremely conservative for the soul purpose of protecting your QB from injury is NOT a formula for a championship. Hell, Ewers was hurt and Sark had designed run plays for him. It's clear you want a conservative QB game plan if full protection mode. Maybe you should start a Sarks should sit thread cause he doesn't appear to agree with your strategy. Arch ran nearly exclusively running plays the entire second half of the year.
  5. You keep moving the goal posts all around. Here is what I'll offer as a wager. CJ has under 1000 yards rushing he doesn't go to the NFL draft. $100 bet If CJ goes to the draft with under 1000 yard he is not selected in the first 2 rounds. Another $100 bet
  6. I've seen conservative, scares ya to death coaching and I was not a fan.
  7. You have the same concern prior to the 2005 season?
  8. Just don't cheer when he runs for a 75 yard TD in the play nor for the personal foul flag that removes the OSU LB from the game.
  9. Just don't cheer when he runs for a 75 yard TD in the play nor for the personal foul flag that removes the OSU LB from the game.
  10. Number of Surlyites worried about it now, 70%, number worried when Arch keeps at the 25 and runs for a 75 TD 25%. Number worried when later in the game Arch rolls like the same play, safeties bite and its a toss to Wingo on a cross for a 40 yard TD to go up 14 on Georgia, zero.
  11. He's not talking about running the wishbone. He means Sark mixing it in maybe one or two times per game to use the look in later series to keep the D on their heels. I suspect Sark will do just that, as it's good OC planning. As for running it regularly, agreed, and I seriously doubt Sark would because last I checked he wasn't horribly regarded.
  12. Darlene (one of my dogs) get excited when we are doing well. She thinks something good is happening. (She's right) She goes into her kennel when things are going poorly.
  13. Fewer self sacks, batted balls and ballet moves should help the running game by increased down field threat as well. Couldn't help myself. Sorry.
  14. I was being nice trying to avoid further degradation of this thread on "The Surly Controversy" re QB play and Wisner was good, imo, for the lack of support he had on offense. But in bigger picture, agreed. Offensive turn overs absolutely fucked us last year.
  15. We roll Georgia 2 TDs or more. By that point the OL will be fully jelled, Arch will be comfortable and clicking. Florida is a greater chance. As for the impossibly of losing to Kentucky on the road it's absolutely not likely. However, it's on the road the week after OU the third game away from home in a row out of 4. They won't be ranked and have 2-3 losses. Texas, at worst will be top 10 with 1 loss. It's exactly the sort of game that gets looked over by 18-22 year olds mentally. And I don't expect to lose but think it will be closer than expected, which is actually good as it will serve as a reality check for the players to focus the rest of the season.
  16. We got to the CFP last year because of great defense, really good WR, TE and RB play, good QB play and good OL. This year we potentially have a better defense than last years great one. A defense that was among the best ever, and yes it really could be better this year. Or WRs look to be of equal caliber, RB returns the most productive player and adds massive depth. OL and TE are a bit of a question mark. We play a QB that is clearly capable of equivalent level to last years with a much higher upside potential. It's really hard to argue against this team and happily we don't have to wait long to see if it is an NC caliber team or not. For my part, I think we beat OSU in a very low scoring afair. I suspect we lose an SEC game or 2 we don't see coming. Florida and Kentucky stick out to me. Then we hit stride and hammer the rest of the schedule. But I'm an optimist and have a room booked in Miami so...
  17. Go ahead and show the receipts on this hot take. Show me one, any, RB selected early in the draft that played zero downs in a season, killed at combine and was drafted in the first 2 rounds. Any, ever. Maybe there is one, but I sure as shit don't remember them.
  18. I do care where guys get drafted as the higher and more of them the better for Texas football and Texas athletics. I am not a draft guru, I was simply pointing out some logic flaws in a user's post regarding Baxter. I don't know how CJ will perform this year, but hope it is really well as he seems like a good human/team guy and it's good for Texas. I don't know if he will enter the draft. If he does I don't know where he will be drafted. If he does go into the draft, I hope he is selected in an early round. If he is selected in a higher round, I'm willing to wager he had an amazing year at Texas. Which... as I said in my first post on the topic.... is good with me.
  19. We should debate it more!! Twat... that escalated quickly. You said: I submit that the Super Bowl is actually football.. it's a hot take and controversial I know. I'm of the position, and a lot of people agree, that the Super Bowl is, in fact, football. As such, there IS football in February. So it's not THE worst month for football, as there is football played in February despite what some might have you believe. I would argue not having ANY actual college football nor real NFL GAMES since February makes August the time of greatest thirst for college football fans. I do so, with silliness and in fun, to make sure it's taken as I intend. The worst month of sports is really important. I'm glad we're digging in, you twat.
  20. This had me laughing, not because I disagree, but because it's so aggie. Reed is better than typical aggie QB. He's a threat when running, but shouldn't cause he's tiny and will break easily. However, he can't throw for shit either. To further the aggie reality, I think they will run him a lot BECAUSE he throws like shit. This will likely result in injury sidelining him by... Wait for it... October
  21. I was being hyperbolic with Heisman, but RB2 in a committee offense who has huge historical injury issues and has never produced big numbers consistently isn't a likely draft pick in early rounds without a pretty amazing single year performance.
  22. I absolutely love that Surly turns my silly post about the thirst in August into a fucking debate. A debate about when is the worst time for college football fans. In the 2025 fall camp thread, 2 weeks before games start.
  23. Super Bowl isn't football? Learn something new every day. They also play NBA games in addition to the all-star game. Australian Open a grand slam tennis event.
  24. Super Bowl month? NBA All Star game (if you like that) Daytona 500 This is a bad take.
  25. We are 2 weeks from season kick. Recruiting news dropped off a few weeks ago. There is soccer, NFL preseason and baseball available as sport watching options. This is the time of deep unbridled thirst, and panty twists over any conceivable issue on the roster hits it apex. It's absolutely the worst time for college football forums. And the best of times.
