  1. don't you drive a 3 series. 😁 *I know an M version.
  2. Not sure why people are acting as though either Ryan had anything to do with the one the field product. Reid was brought in to fix the tv contract pistolis botched and got fired over. He did that. Nolan basically did nothing other than sit smugly behind home plate and generally be an a$$hole to adoring fans in the diamond club.
  3. you wouldn't confuse the old 912 or even 993 with a 997. That said if you put a 912 against a 997 the size variance is really noticeable. That same variance is extremely noticeable if you put a 997 next to the new 992. I was stunned by how much the car has grown.
  4. I am 6'4. I have a buddy who fits fine in his 911 at 6'8. unless you're over 6'8 head room in not an issue.
  5. that is awesome. certainly meets/exceeds expectations.
  6. 997 turbo is now 2 model generations removed from new (991 and 992) and the new 992 turbo coming in 2020. The 997 now feels incredibly dated and is tiny compared to both the 991 and 992. I say this as a 997 owner. I still love mine, but I am not surprised values on them are so low. Porsche builds 10 more cars than the public wants vs Ferrari who builds 500 fewer than demand.
  7. that is why so many go with Porsche. It is clearly not the same level of "exotic", but by God they work and are for the most part maintenance dreams, or at least the 5 I have owned have been.
  8. or a $7500 timing belt every 5,000 miles.
  9. nobody buying that would add the CF for gas mileage. They'd do it to save weight around the track. Hard to believe the ceramic brakes are not standard on a 200k car.
  10. me either. It's unlikely I would ever do that. Hell, even if I had that 904 Carrera GTS above, I would drive that thing. Granted, that may be easy to say because none of my cars are "collectable" in any way whatsoever, but even guys like me with easily attainable cars like the 911 you have people who let them sit in the garage like it's not going to depreciate. Crazy to me. Cars that would, in theory, hold steady and maybe appreciate slightly like the F430 isn't enough potential return to me to not drive that frequently. It would have to be some extremely rare thing like the 904, or 288GTO Ferrari for me to let it be a garage queen, and frankly even the F 288 GTO, for me, anyway, I wouldn't drive as much for fear some dipshit would hit me more so than worrying about my potential "resale". It's a car. drive it.
  11. my brother in law has a 2006 F430 that he bought new back in the day. Gosh I love that car. The sound that V8 makes is just pure awesome. He never drives the thing, and has had it in offsite storage for probably 10 years now. I bet it has < 3,000 miles on it. Shame. I'd drive that thing daily. you only live once.
  12. so very very true on the 911. I know it's not for everyone, and it has it's faults, but if you want a car that you can literally try and tear up on a track, give it the spurs at every stop light, throw around the track, and then drive home with a child in the back, and overall extremely low cost of ownership, well..they do that better than anyone. My track laps in that GT3 gave me the 911 bug so badly I have driven my old 997S every day since. I usually drive it once or twice a week, but that track day just made me love it all over again. and you'd be crazy to get that Merc in any color other than Green or the Blue. That car demands a vibrant color.
  13. My thoughts exactly, but you know, it is for his wife, and that shit is undefeated so you just never know....I know HE wouldn't drive a f*cking Nissan.
  14. ah...makes sense. I thought you meant the Nissan GTR which my shitty driver self actually did "destroy" on a track 6 days ago. THe Merc GTR...that's a whole different deal.
  15. what I wouldn't give for one of those 904 Carrera GTS. And that 917 in gulf paint is perfection. One day I will order a GT3 in that paint scheme for track use.
  16. and there's not a gotdayum thing wrong with that.
  17. consistent complaint I heard at our track day was it handled like a pick up truck and was definitely slow around the track. granted it was up against a Ferrari 488 GB, Lambo Huracan, McClaren 720 and 911 GT3. seeing it get slaughtered live the way it did was surprising to me.
  18. hit up 60 Vines last night in Rice Village. they have 60 wines on their tap wall, as well as other bottles. it was nice to see a meat and cheese board that had interesting offering such as lavender goat cheese, and in house made ricotta that didn't cost a freaking fortune. Kid had the pizza and loved it. Wife had the chicken Caesar which was definitely a dinner sized portion. I had the rainbow trout with broccoli and avocado slaw and damn it was fantastic. Service was prompt and attentive. The wine I ordered had some pretty large sediment chunks floating in it. I pointed this out and they quickly brought me a replacement, and then proceeded to comp my wine as well as my wife's. I most certainly didn't expect nor want them to do that, but it was a nice gesture on their part. 100% will go back.
  19. right. They didn't mention it when they called to confirm my reservation either. I wouldn't have known unless my wife saw it on social media. Ended up having to take the wife and kid to the galleria and ate at 5115. that place is damn solid for a department store restaurant.
  20. don't do it! seems everyone who drove that thing at track day resigned it to POS status. I didn't drive it, but I did pass it a few times in the other cars 😉
  21. didn't go to reef. saw on social media that someone wanted to rent the restaurant for Saturday night and they were moving all reservations to a communal table in the bar. not my scene.
  22. ha. kinda, but not really. each year you are either constructing a team that will be better or worse than the previous year. It is really hard to imagine a scenario where the 2020 AStros are a better team than either the 2018 or 2019 versions of the astros. That doesn't mean they will suck. They will compete for the West and be the odds on favorite to win the division again. That said, their playoff rotation as it stands today is not going to be as good as the last two versions. It just isn't happening. I say the over under on wins next year is 97.
  23. binged it yesterday. I thought it was fantastic action/thriller tv. perfect? no. groundbreaking? no. Reminds me of a more disciplined/higher brow/better written/produced version of strike back, but without the nekkid chicks.
  24. It will all work out, but this is going to be a tough offseason. They have a ton of money tied in few players. They have some to spend, but don’t expect any blockbuster type deals.
