  1. no way they could make those commercials today. the woke generation would firebomb their headquarters and everyone would have to resign.
  2. their new spicy tenders suck. if you're gonna proclaim a tender is spicy it by God oughta be spicy. things taste just like the regular ones, but are simply the color of cayenne pepper. turble.
  3. great looking car. prayers scent you got a good one. I bet that thing is bigger than my 1998 540i sport package back in the day.
  4. Vegas next weekend for Labor day looks something like this: Arrive Friday afternoon, staying at Encore. Group dinner at SW Steak followed by lower key night of gambling/drinking Saturday - two options - cabana day at the pool or go to lagasse stadium for a day of gambling on CFB. I will likely choose the latter over the former because we later have drinks before dinner, dinner at RIvea followed by reserve table/bottle service at Drai Sunday - Apparently a really prime cabana at Encore Beach Club. if we survive the day I think we have no dinner plans. Monday - travel home/liver transplant. This is a trip put together by a buddy who spends upwards of 30 nights a year at the Encore. he serves as travel agent and does a great job of putting this together in a top notch fashion, ensures we get outstanding food/service/etc. Really looking forward to it.
  5. I bought that same one. Always thought if we do An alternate uniform this logo should be on our helmet.
  6. shit. that may be the case. I can't really recall. That may be an incorrect memory from my 996 days.
  7. FYI you can always preemptively swap out the IMS bearing and just be done with it. FN Engineering makes an aftermarket replacement that many people have used with great results.
  8. Just LLA covering for their incompetent umpires. They guys they send out to our district tournament are quite simply awful. All you need to know about how LLA covers for these guys at every turn is read through the process to "appeal" a missed base. It is absolutely written and enforced with the goal of you standing by a terrible call. Most of the time these knuckle heads are watching the game, and not watching runners touching bases. Their strike zones are usually not in accordance with the stated zone, and can and do vary wildly inning over inning. They likely never ever noticed a team stealing signs, and from what I have seen, depending on the team doing it even if they had seen it they may or may not have done anything about it. We had guys out this year who didn't have even a rudimentary understanding of the rules.
  9. Porsche has been producing turbo engines in production cars since 1975. Seems to be working out.
  10. Forgot we have meet the teacher night and I cannot go. I have two seats to Social D in Houston. They are actual seats. Free to anyone who will go. post email and I will transfer them to you. It's at revention.
  11. no shit. our uniforms now look like a freaking nascar hood. longhorn logo, B12 logo, Nike Logo, "TEXAS", and now a 150 patch. Geezus. Take all that shit off.
  12. agree. If any of you went to the game at ND and saw their UA branded fan gear compared to the absolute shit NIke and We Are TExas offer for us, you'd be praying we open up the apparel contract next time it comes up. The fact that we didn't open it up for bidding and simply re-upped with Nike was one of the laziest and frankly derelict of duty things we have done in a while. I realize we didn't have a real AD then, but good lord. Not like we don't have a whole line up of alumns who could have happily taken the project on for the University, and negotiated a much much much better deal than what we got. Now that both Adidas and UA are actually making more traditional uniforms we need to open that thing upfor bidding when it comes due. Hell, Nike can't even get our damn color right. On a positive note, our baseball uniforms this past season were absolutely perfect.
  13. catching that one the 25th in Houston. really looking forward to Noel more than Pumpkins. Anxious to hear your review.
  14. Social Distortion tomorrow night in Houston.
  15. heading out there for labor day weekend. Staying at the Wynne, buddy has dinners set up each night, night club private area reserved, and pool cabana for sunday. should be a great and probably very expensive long weekend.
  16. he's certainly a bright spot on the show, but even he couldn't save last season. Let's hope they get back on track and use his full potential. THis show has a low bar to reach for entertainment, they shouldn't try to be something they're not.
  17. I think Fast 5 was probably the best of the series. That was the best blend of turning the franchise into a "heist/action/thriller" series, but had a cool story and hook with some CGI stunts, but they were at least relatively sane (although certainly above the suspension of disbelief threshold - the train/bridge scene and towing the safe with dodge chargers). This thing was certainly over the top in a "Die Another Day" kind of way. I still enjoyed it for what it was, and of course my 11 year old loved it.
  18. full disclosure I went freaking cheap on it. I got an offer of two free days from Hertz on a Ford Escape. I figured what the hell, it has 4WD, has some utility, and it's cheap. If you needed a cheap in town grocery hauler it would be perfectly fine. If you want to drive on a freeway, dear lord be with you. The handling was just terrible and it felt highly unstable over 62 mph, not mention that poor 4 banger engine sounding like it was going detonate every time it struggled up a mountain road.
  19. I did that drive exactly the same day. I went through there around 1:30, stopped at the divide, and hiked around a bit. By the time we left it was 49 and starting to drizzle. It's stunning for sure, but yeah, that drive is no effing joke especially in a little shit box SUV with shit handling like I had.
  20. I ctually think the drive back down is worse. When you're on that last stretch of road, and you're on the outside (not next to the mountain, but inches away from a 1k foot plummet with no guard rail) is about as rough a drive as imaginable. Luckily when I was making the drive back down it was so early no other cars were around so I drove in the lane next to the rock wall. that is no doubt a white knuckle drive, but damn if it isn't the most scenic.
  21. Looks like Season 5 is a couple weeks away. As bad as last season was I feel like ive invested in 4 seasons, I might as well give it a few episodes to see if they return to being a mildly funny show with cool cars, hot chicks and sports, or if they want to continue trying to be a serious show making a statement. If they continue to path of season 4, i'm bailing. quickly.
  22. Spent the week in Colorado driving a ford escape as a rental. I do not recommend purchasing one of these if you have any intention of driving over 62 mph.
  23. Ritz Carlton is walking distance to the park. Stueben's is a great place for breakfast.
  24. Take in a Rockies game. If time permits, drive out to Independence Pass for the day and do a small hike across the continental divide?
  25. Hobbs and Shaw. I enjoyed it a ton what what it was. I do find i enjoy these things less the more suspension of disbelief required. This one requires a ton. I assumed that going in, but still this one pushed the envelope. Still enjoyed it, but it felt a ton like the last pierce brosnan bond where the villain had a diamond encrusted face and there was an invisible car.
