  1. I am not sure I agree with Pete on much, but I will say I can at least respect his conviction and what seems to generally be a rather rational approach to things he believes are issues. I would be really interested in a Pete/Tulsi ticket. Need to see if he can hold off the loony left an operate somewhere in the middle. Of course, doing that means he has zero shot at the nomination, but in the unlikely event he is the nominee and he picked Gabbard I would be inclined to give him a shot.
  2. Great looking vehicle. I sincerely wish you better experiences with yours than I had with the 3 I owned. They have always done a great job on exterior design. Hopefully their electronics are functional.
  3. good talk russ. way to address points with salient counterpoint. either offer something of substance, or find something better to do. Explain how you tax a few billionaires enough to cover a trillion dollar spending void.
  4. Here is an exercise for the "tax more" crowd. Why don't you tell us how much of other people's money is your "fair share", the revenue impact of it, how much of this extra revenue go towards reducing the deficit (note, deficit, not debt), and the impact of taking that money out of the economy and sending it to Washington. How does that impact employment, GDP, etc.
  5. yet revenue is up? How you gonna spin that? Revenue is up and spending is up. Where is the model that gets revenue up and spending down? Nowhere, which is the point. No matter the tax rate, historically receipts have been 16-20% of GDP. That is the case when the top rate was 90% and the case when it was 28%. Oh, and massive deficits are the work of congress and Tip O'Neill. They are the work of Dennis Child Molester, Nancy Pelosi, Paul Ryan, and Nancy Pelosi. Saying the spending problem is caused by the taxing problem is akin to someone who makes 150k a year going and buying a 3 million dollar home and then claiming their mortgage problem is caused by their salary problem. uh....
  6. So now we have folks here who think all that "value" can be converted to cash, confiscated by the federal government and used to pay debts. deer lowered. I guess this explains who the embarrassing incompetents we saw pandering at the mueller hearings get elected.
  7. they out spend cash flow by over 1 trillion a year. That is a spending problem no matter how you slice it. You could cut military spending by 40% and not make a dent. Until entitlements are addressed along with defense noting ever matters, and the .01% cannot be taxed into fixing this. You couldn't tax every billionaire the country 100% and make a dent in a one trillion a year deficit. It's impossible. The problem is way bigger than the typical, small minded ,canned, left response of tax the rich and cut defense
  8. At what point do we wake up and stop sending financial morons to represent us? I know, never. Too many votes are too easily bought with promises of someone else's money. Nobody has a plan to address the spending crisis in Washington. Not. One. Single. Candidate. None. Shameful. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/22/deficit-don-budget-red-ink-trump-1426696?fbclid=IwAR2gHg4WCwbAo-kEGO5SoiayM20tp-3DyEcRxPqKIaZttHWweiUqlqHmj6I
  9. It’s really embarrassing that we as a country send such low iq, useless, feckless, posturing shit bags to write our laws and represent us in Congress. That is a comment on Congress as a whole. I wouldn’t hire these pathetic losers to pick up dog shit in my back yard.
  10. Maybe trump is the repub bill Clinton? It’s all a media conspiracy? They’re all repulsive.

  12. This guy is so embarrassing. Every time i see him he talks about nothing but racism and nazis everywhere. What a douche.
  13. apparently not, or it might not be closing. Another casualty of the march of time. This one doesn't hurt as much as some of the others except for the fact that there are so few left. GM Steakhouse, Mad Dog and Beans, Jorge's on 6th, Uptown Enchilada Bar, Players, Huts, Berts…..geez. so many old Austin places gone, and with it so much of what gave Austin the character that made it great/weird/unique.
  14. hard pass. that has to be the most disappointing re-launch of a great car. I still cannot believe Toyota built the new supra out of the BMW parts bin. It's unfathomable for a car maker like Toyota to do that, especially with their most recognizable performance car.
  15. when my wife calls me out for something like this my standard reply is that if I need any lip outta her I will pull down her pants.
  16. Our fan gear is simply terrible. Going to get a new Peter Millar burnt orange polo. I spent a good bit of yesterday looking from something different, but good gosh our fan gear is trash. Nike doesn't even try anymore and We Are Texas is just trash.
  17. No time to go back and search through this thread. Kiddo left for camp. Need some new places to hit this week. How is Ritual? Menu looks awesome, and it better be to make me go all the way to the Heights and have to hear the boss lady bitching about going to the heights the entire way over there.
  18. Kiddo leaves for camp tomorrow and wanted to got to steak 48. I ordered the 12 oz wagyu ribeye cap tonight. Good lord that was epic. I’d say it rivaled any steak I’ve ever had including the Kobe sampler I did at cut Vegas that had a5 included in it.
  19. is it a Porsche dealer? Doesn't matter really. THey cover their original factory warranty no matter what. you can decide if you want to buy an extended aftermarket warranty or not. I bought one for my 911 years ago through easy care. Turned out to be mostly a waste of money because the car never went to the shop for anything requiring warranty coverage.
  20. it's a Porsche. It's supposed to be driven hard. The ones that are softly driven garage queens are the ones that break down. THe ones like my 15 year old C2S that I red line damn near every shift, and have for 15 years are the bullet proof ones that run forever.
  21. the new C8 is a very serious machine. I know the interior isn't a design many will like. It's a tough situation. Chevy can produce car that can compete, and beat exotic supercars that cost 2-4 times as much which is the issue, right? If they want to offer a mid engine V8 and 60k you have to cut cost somewhere. Obviously it is going to be interior bits as opposed to engine, transmission, drivetrain. They used the Porsche PDK in the test mules. If they copied that transmission for the C8, then good on Chevy. I believe the Porsche PDK box is the absolute best transmission available. Back to that interior....gosh. I get it's not going to be appointed like a 100k car, but they could have figured out way to go with a more seamless, integrated dash design. I hate HATE dash boards that are not minimalist. The edges cut into it, and river running behind the pasted on display screen are a mess. Seats look pretty good. I don't mind all the buttons, but I don't really like the manner of displaying the buttons on that strip. All in all this is entry level car is a 700 foot walk off, gran slam. Put it this way, I am actually interested in buying one. I would have never thought that would be the case, but this thing has my attention in a way I could have never imagined.
  22. dual clutch is actually a manual transmission. it just performs like an automatic. No gated manual. I guess they do call the dual clutch gearbozed "automatic", but that really isn't the case.
  23. Cayenne Turbo, and buy an older Tahoe to drive to job sites or to cheap clients offended by you having a nice car.
  24. maybe, but his voice is still strong, and the guy is a highly underrated and awesome guitar player. Out of this list, GNR and Cure about it for me. GCJR is awesome. OTher than that, terrible. Billy Eilish is just straight freaking garbage, but someone said she was great and people didn't want to go against the grain because she's young, the music is different and if you say it sucks people will claim you're sexist, old and just don't "get it", but she's simply terrible.
  25. Back when my parents lived in Lockhart and I got to eat at those places more times than I could ever possibly recall, LCM was always the best of the best when they were "on". There was a hierarchy for me that went something like this amongst the Lockhart places + LCM: Smitty's - they were always the winner for me, not because they ever put out the absolute best BBQ, but because they were always the most consistently very good. If they put out their absolute best food, it was always a tick below Kruez or LCM. Kruez - not as consistent as Smitty's, but their best effort, to me, was a bit better than SMitty's. the issue was their best effort seemed to have a hit rate of about 1 out of 4 times. That said their worst food was never that bad. LCM - If they put out their very best, they were the very best and it didn't matter which protein. Brisket, Ribs, sausage, their best was the pinnacle of BBQ at that time. However, they were wildly inconsistent, and their worst food was by far the worst of the lot. Just inedible at times. I could never figure out how they could vary so wildly from visit to visit. This would really piss me off when I would forgo Smitty's 3 minutes from my parent's place to drive 20 minutes away, wait in line, drive back home, and get them on a day they were "off". Blacks - they were just consistently average back then. I think they have elevated themselves a bit since then, but they were never the leader there. The period I am referencing was the 10 years from 2005-2015.
