  1. I am not sure how this is anything other than expectation. you buy a 600 hp car with a v8. im not sure how you expect it to get anything better than about 10-12 in the city and maybe 16-18 on the highway. you know when they test these gas mileage numbers they're almost always wrong on the high side. maybe it's my driving, but I have never had a car get the mileage claimed. I would estimate I have driven well over 1,000,000 miles, and have never seen a car perform within the mileage claims on the sticker. ever.
  2. Note I am not comparing this to the McClaren, but the sound on my Panamera GTS > McClaren. When I took delivery of my Panamera there was a guy taking delivery of the mcclaren. cars were side by side. we fired them up, and the mcclaren owner even noted he had exhaust envy. pretty sure that is where the comparison ended, obviously two very different cars serving very different purposes.
  3. F35 shit bird with more problems https://www.defensenews.com/air/2019/06/12/supersonic-speeds-could-cause-big-problems-for-the-f-35s-stealth-coating/
  4. driving down 59 toward downtown Houston the other day I was tailing a burnt orange McClaren 720. God almighty that thing was unreal. I was cruising about 85 and the guy blows by me like I was sitting still.
  5. oh no. I did not need that option. If this whole business thing works out there is zero shot im not ordering something with an old gulf blue and orange livery.
  6. pretty sure the smoked brisket bahn mi was invented by the good folks over at Les Baget in Houston. Damn that thing is good.
  7. I just don't think I would want my kiddo part of that banditos program. they've tried countless times to get him to play with them. I'm not really opposed to a program putting a premium on winning and an absolute premium on meritocracy as far as playing time particularly when it is bracket day, but I just don't think their atmosphere or program is all that positive. I know kids who have gotten scholarships to some top D1 programs through them, but it just doesn't seem worth it.
  8. where I say I think there is no interest on the debt? it has grow exponentially as a percentage of congressional spend. it is now firmly in the top 10 cash outlays.
  9. Obama has been gone for two years. his 10 trillion in debt remains, but I am not blaming trump and the pathetic congress's trillion dollar deficits on him. He owns 8 years of terrible policy and a lackluster recovery from a devastating recession. trump and a continual pathetic congress dating back to paul ryan's reign of incompetence own the current financial mismanagement. I am not sure how that makes me a gop apologist as you say, but whatever makes you feel better.
  10. maybe, but if you pay them only expenses then you get guys and ladies who are financially stable, wealthy who cannot easily be bought off by lobbyists, special interests. You get successful folks who are giving back and serving after they have made their fortunes. That was the intent by the founders. the idea of career politicians would be completely reprehensible to them as it is to me.
  11. well except that whole president cannot spend thing, but if you must go there last I checked when bush took over debt was 5 trillion. when his fiscal disaster ended it was 10. Obama took over and got us to 20. trump is on a disastrous path as well with full acceptance from the democrat congress not known as a party that even pretends to understand fiscal responsibility. blame whomever you want, but congress spends. Presidents ask, congress spends. oh, and there was never a year, ever under Clinton where receipts > spend, but if you want to believe that fallacy would the credit not go to the Newt Gingrich led congress and the contract with America? That was the pact that saw the "projected budgetary surplus" unfold. Oh, and bush had the same "projected budgetary surplus" too. we know how that turned out.
  12. Why would I care who did it? I don't give a shit who did it, they were wrong on this issue and should be judged harshly. primary them, and get them removed if you have to vote on a party line, vote for their opponent if you don't find that person reprehensible. matters not to me.
  13. but that actually might bring people together and we might find common ground, and act civilly towards one another. The media and the two rotten to the core parties want no part of that.
  14. what? you have any rebuttal that would indicate any of that isn't factually correct? 20+ trillion. go find that cash via the tax code and get back to me with how it works without crippling the economy.
  15. we are all citizens, even those assholes who hold elected office. Seems the populace and those elected with representing the populace has forgotten that all important fact. We have people who act as though our politicians are "rock stars", and politicians who believe it. It's absurd. they're nothing more than citizen representatives, and I think it is way past time they be reminded. they shouldn't be treated as though they're more important than they are.
  16. you're acting as though having the cash to fund something has ever stopped our government. we have 20+ trillion in debt, and you act as though the few hundred billionaires could be taxed at a rate that would make a dent in 20 trillion. it's a nice quip, and trite poke, but unrealistic, ignorant and shows complete lack of understanding of the financial mismanagement of our government, and the vastness of the shortfall. If you could somehow convert the fortunes of evey billionaire in the US and convert them to cash, you could not make a dent in the debt. Them getting a "tax cut" and acting like that is the cause of the government being underfunded is a fools errand. Back to the original take, had they set a fund with 10-15 billion printed fake dolllars on the china credit card 18 years ago they very likely could have funded all these expenses on the interest over that time period, but that might require someone with an ounce of financial background, maybe someone with a background in risk management, and a few people in congress who don't live with their heads in their asses. easy to see how nothing was done, and they require these poor guys to show up and grovel for help every few years. Makes a nice photo op for these losers to take a picture with the first responders and report back that they helped fund their medical bills a few more years. The whole of congress is a sickening bunch on so many levels. we really need to raise the minimum age to 57, cut pay to expenses only, and have hard and fast term limits on these people.
  17. good for him. He eviscerates these losers in congress, and lets them have it on an issue that just shouldn't be an issue.
  18. just another piece of old Austin and college years gone. this one hurts a bit more than players because the burgers at Hut's we at least decent whereas Players was always terrible at best. The onion rings at huts, the cfs, the old building, college, nostalgia, etc all were a cool piece of Austin. it was sort of the last bastion with Mad Dog and Beans, GM Steakhouse and Players all gone. I guess Dirty Martins is the last standing king. Sucks, but like others have said, I am pretty surprised it made it this long. I think about the only places that remain that I used to frequent that have any remaining character are Dirty's and Texas Chili Parlor.
  19. what can happen in those cases, and happened to this all-star team last weekend was this: more than half the kids on AS team make up a full select team that is ranked as AAA at u-trip. we wanted to play aa with the AS team to avoid getting crushed. Larson broke the code and put us in aaa last weekend to go 0-3. that wasn't good for the kids. It likely would have been fine, but we were missing 3 of the players who are on that select aaa team for various reasons. that meant we were short on pitching and middle infield. we had no chance. we had those guys back this weekend, and a totally different result. it also helped to practice and knock off some rust for these kids.
  20. To be fair a good number of the kids on our all star team are on the select team I’ve mentioned previously in this thread. They’ve played a lot of tournament ball, but we also have a good number of back of the roster guys who haven’t played much of any tournament ball. Those are the ones we at evaluating.
  21. as we are preparing our little league team for all-stars we decided to play a couple of select ball tournaments, gauge what we need to work on, and get more game at bats and pitching in pressure situations. Last weekend we wore the collar 0-3. terrible. granted our team was announced at midnight, an we played the next day with no practice or anything, and we were missing some guys. this weekend after we had a week to practice we went out and won the tournament. mini pep had a spectacular weekend throwing a no hitter and hitting a bomb. we play district in two weeks. see how that goes.
  22. solid ending except I am beyond tired of the taylor/axe fued and of course now we have chuck back on axe. I knew that was coming and that is fine. it was time for taylor to move on and a new villain to emerge.
  23. I’m shocked, SHOCKED i tell ya.
  24. This is a solid plan. Sounds like coach Nolan our at Kinkaid. Great guy and coach
  25. None of those is a better option than joe and joe is a low iq imbecile. Buttigieg is the outlier in that group of radicals
