  1. I comes deflated and collapsed so it will fit on the compartment. They give you a compressor that is powered off the car battery. Compressor fitting only fits the spare, and there is a bracket holding the tire in the bay that has no obvious way to unscrew it. There is a solid bracket that has no screw on top. I couldn’t figure out how the hell to operate it. Crazy. Looked on line and didn’t see anything for our year. Only the early models. I’m going to ask the dealer to show me how to use it next time I’m there. No way that shit needs to be that complicated.
  2. Well after 15 years and probably 350k miles on porsche vehicles with no spare we had our first ever flat tire yesterday on the way to rosemary beach. We were a bit east of lake Charles. The cayenne turbo actually has a spare. However, my lord you’d need to have an advanced engineering degree from a German engineering college to work just getting the spare tire out of the vehicle, then hook up a compressor to the vehicle battery to fill the 50 mph donut. Luckily, I was 1/4 mile from an exit that had a truck stop. Made it there, and called a road side assistance. Guy showed up in 5 minutes and was able to plug the tire. Paid him, and hauled ass. Total delay was less than 30 minutes. I’m going to put a tire plug kit in the cars and a compressor that hooks into the internal power sources in the cars. Luckily it wasn’t a totally blow out, just a puncture. Pretty easy to deal with overall. Of course, that was because i didn’t actually have to change the tire and figure out the complexities of the equipment that came with the vehicle.
  3. well yeah...of course a Panamera GtS is going to feel a hell of a ton better than a Cayenne. the gts is arguably the best overall drive of any sport sedan in production. it does feel very much like a bigger 911. My wife loves the drive of my gts way more than her cayenne turbo. that's just a simple oranges to apples comparison. two very different vehicles other than the name plate. no wrong answer, but very different ones.
  4. One drawback of a Panamera as a baby hauler would be it is a 2+2 configuration which could be an issue. Maybe not, but maybe. Other than that, i'm not seeing it. It can haul an absolute ton of stuff in the storage area. IDK, if you liked the drive better than the Cayenne, im not seeing a compelling reason to not get the Panamera. you can pretty easily haul a stroller, diaper bag, etc in there, and if you need to haul a pack and play fold down the seat on one side. it has more than enough room to haul all the shit you need for a baby.
  5. I have that coating on the alcantara in my Panamera GTS, and I can tell you it works. Shit beads up on it like water on freshly waxed paint . Mine at 23k miles show virtually no wear. That said, you can order with just leather, even the GTS can be ordered with leather and not Alcantara. My 11 year old is messy as hell, dirty, sweaty after baseball, etc, and the seats clean right up no problem.
  6. there's never been a time when I didn't care about it. I simply know nothing will ever be done other than arguing about how much of my money I get to keep which solves nothing in the scheme of 20+ trillion in debt that climbs every day. There is no tax rate that solves that problem. It now simply too big, and not feasible solving it through the tax code. The tax deal was a sham, but typical of slight of hand. Lowered rates, but capped and eliminated more deductions we will never get back thus most people paying more in real dollars. On top of it spending has increased. same shit, different day. Everyone in congress should be fired.
  7. except Maxine Waters chairs the committee and didn't even know the government owns/caused the student loan crisis so there's that.
  8. it's almost as bad as Maxine waters asking "mr big bank" what he plans to do about the student loan crisis while not even knowing it was the Obama admin and "big government" who took over student loans in 2009 with a liability of about 150 billion. 10 years of government incompetence later they're now over 1 trillion, and she as the chair of the banking and finance committee had no idea. Point being, we are surrounded by incompetent morons at every level of government. Our finance and banking committee is chaired by one of the dumbest and corrupt members of congress, yet she isn't even the dumbest member as green new deal dipshit AOC is also on the committee. These nitwits are making financial decisions and policies. is it any wonder we are 20+ trillion in debt? carson has no business being in the position he is in.
  9. none of ours have run flats nor a spare. Back when I drove my 911 daily I once had to look under the car for something. Maybe my kids ball had rolled under it. whatever. Anyway, I would look at the tires from the side and could only see about half the tire. They looked pretty new. I get down under the thing and notice the inner half of both rear tires is bare as a baby's ass with threads showing. Had no idea the tires wore so much more on the inner halves. the weight of the ending sitting back over the rear axle really wears out those rear tires. After years of those Pirelli P2's that were allergic to pavement, and maybe lasted 5-7k miles, I finally ditched them and put some bridgestones on it. They don't grip anywhere close to the others, but they've made it 15k miles. Of course, I only drive the thing about 3k miles per year now, and don't go take it to the track anymore.
  10. He served his time, and is free to get on with his life whatever that means. I have no problem with him being let our 3 years early on a 20 year sentence. That said, I would have been much more satisfied if they had found some deep dark hole to put him in never to be seen nor heard from again.
  11. My mileage is probably 14-15 in the city. I keep it in sport mode, keep my foot in the carpet, and drive in stop and go inner loop Houston traffic. The tires are wearing pretty well at this point. Probably have 3 months of life left in them. I bet my wife's turbo Cayenne mileage is worse. One thing I love on my Carrera S is the ceramic brakes. No brake dust ever, and clean up is virtually nothing. I have the turbo wheels on the Panamera GTS and they are an absolute bitch to keep clean. Ive pretty much resigned to taking it only to a car wash. It takes forever to wash the thing due to size, and I hate cleaning those wheels and all that damn leather inside. damn near 40 MPG is amazing on your Panamera. Wow. Those things are a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing. They generally have the less sporty look with more demure front, the chrome trim around the door trim (more of a luxury styling in general), but they will move with all that torque.
  12. I loved the fight scene with halle berry.
  13. saw it on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it just like all the Wick movies. I would have liked for this movie to maybe cut a few scenes shorter in order to wrap up the storyline with Winston rather than leaving this particular line to continue for another film. I kind of want a bit more expansion into the underworld of the private hit man scene.
  14. I have had my Panamera GTS for one year now. In that time I have put a little over 11k miles on it. Clock is now at 22,XXX. I have taken it in once for the scheduled 20k mile service. That was about 1,800. That price included replacing one tire. I also had to replace the front windshield. I have windshield replacement on my insurance so the glass cost me nothing. What it did not know was after getting the windshield replaced I had to take it to the dealer to get all the cameras and lane departure sensors and shit re-set/programmed. I still cannot figure out how all that shit needed to be done because I replaced the front windshield, but none of it worked after I replaced it and the window guy had told me I was going to have to get that done. I Checked on line and confirmed because it sounded like bullshit to me. Anyway, that shit cost me $500. absurd. OTher than that I had no other issues requiring repairs. One year in, and I continue to love this car more all the time. I still thing the front end of this car is the best looking panamera to date including the latest model. THe back has grown on me from every angle other than the straight side view. That is still awkward at best. The thing is so fun to drive for a giant of a car. The sound of the that naturally aspirated V8 is a work of art. The alcantara shows no signs of wear or degradation so far. One thing that is a pain in the ass, and I knew it would be from my 911 is the cleaning of the leather in this thing. Everything is leather. The dash, the door panels, the coverings of the pillars inside, everything. It's a mild pain in the ass in a small car like a 911. It's a giant pain in the ass for a car of this size. Takes forever to clean. Takes forever to wash. Overall, I am about as pleased as I have ever been with a car purchase. It is still "new" to me in that the more comfortable I am driving it the more capabilities it reveals.
  15. id do it in a heartbeat. I'd eat at buchon every night, and relish the weather. I've offered to rent my wife a house there for the summer and travel out there on weekends.
  16. well. @ChampKind it was another glorious bbq day. Thanks for the great que and beverages. I am going to miss the weekly (almost) trips over there. Good luck, and I will be down there soon.
  17. It's time to move on from Taylor and her pedantic monotone bullshit. Let axe finish her off, and have her move to France never to be seen or heard again. It's now just silly. Also time to bring Chuck and Connerty conflict to a head. They've slow played that long enough. Wendy needs a new direction. Show needs more kick ass car scenes this season too. McFee vs Dollar Bill was the non animated version of Cripple Fight from South Park except cripple fight was actually a fight.
  18. In other news the new Maserati Volante SUV is offering a GTS and Trofeo package both of which will come with Ferrari built V8 engines. Im not sure how I feel about that, but more naturally aspirated V8's produced by Ferrari is always welcome in my opinon, even if the rest of the vehicle is a flaming turd.
  19. exactly my thinking, BUT there are people who view these cars as collectors items. I don't really get it. They're making 1948 of them which, to me, it way too many for anything that is going to be a "collector" car. I would do with a turbo, or if wanting something more "collector" from Porsche the GT2RS with Weissach package. I realize that is a very very very very different car than the speedster. I just don't really get the speedster on many levels. Cool that it is naturally aspirated, I guess. I will confess I do like the "heritage" package interior on the GT silver car.
  20. New Speedster released. 500HP naturally aspirated with 6 speed manual. 0-60 figures at 3.8 are kinda disappointing given the power, and 275k price tag. guess the RWD and manual are a hindrance.
  21. totally agree. I could eat those ribs and greens several times a week and be very very happy. Oddly, I am actually not a huge fan of either greens or ribs which speaks to how great Champ hits both of those.
  22. Legoland is a great park for little kids 3-8 years old. Their "fast pass" program is great and includes all you can eat food, or at least it did back circa 2011-2012 the last time we went there. The pass is pretty expensive, but you simply walk up the exit ramp and get on the ride as many times as you wish. You can do the whole park multiple times in half a day. You could stay at the Gran Del Mar, which isn't too far from Legoland, and is simply the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in by a decent measure. And I don't skimp on hotels. oh, and this damn pizza place is knock out awesome. Luigi's pizzeria. It is in a shitty neighborhood, but you can get a slice of absolutely incredible pizza and a craft beer for about $7.00. well that was 2011-2012 pricing. who knows how much now, but it damn worth it. Great, great, great pizza https://www.foodnetwork.com/restaurants/ca/san-diego/pizzeria-luigi-restaurant
  23. I agree with champ on this one, but we now need to move this to the Galveston thread. A few of those places champ listed are putting out bbq that is non competitive with what he serves daily. I have only been to Roegels once so I won't comment further on them other than to say my one time was good, but not great. Granted it is one time, and it was right when they first transitioned from Bakers Ribs to Roegels. I wouldn't be inclined to return to Truth BBQ, and I damn sure wouldn't wait in line for it. I'm not a big fan of gatlins BBQ, but think the Gatlin's are some seriously nice people. Blood Brothers has a pretty decent line, and I will go on record firmly that their bbq is not worth waiting for for more than a few minutes tops. I would wait in line for Feges. I would wait in line for Pinkerton. I would wait in line for Bucks. I've waited in line for Killen's and would do so again. Anything else, and I'm moving on. just not worth it.
  24. uh...Ahem....just gonna drop this right here for everyone to smile, congratulate, and cry. Very happy for you, Champ. And very sad for me. Well deserved. congratulations https://houstonfoodfinder.com/2019/05/06/houston-barbecue-business-moves-to-brick-and-mortar-in-galveston/
