  1. Alison Cook gave Blood Bros a write up that was pretty much what I wrote. General lack of smokiness to the brisket, but generally everything is done pretty well.
  2. I could never get over the people who would recommend that place when the "best CFS" in Houston question was asked. They had a yyyuuuuuuggggggeeee CFS, but I never had a good one there. thing was the size a freaking wagon wheel. I ate there 3 times in my 25 years in Houston. That isn't a large sample size, but given each time I ate there my CFS was tough, bland, and the batter falling off with the tough meat just steamed inside I could never warrant more than that. place was terrible.
  3. I finished it up this morning. It obviously is not going to be up for any awards, but it seems to be a pretty good adaptation of the book to screen. The acting is generally not so great, and their hair and make-up budget was obviously limited. THat said, if you like R&R history, and don't take things too seriously, it is a fun waste of 1:50:00 of your time. Those dudes have definitely lived with the pedal to the floor.
  4. Except for the minor point that it will now probably all taste good.
  5. Oddly, my wife picked up que from Blood Brothers yesterday so I had it twice in two days. She brought some chicken which was really really good. Brisket which was okay, but more dry than the day before and still not super smoky. Pork ribs which were good not great. serviceable. Turkey - moist, but pretty bland. Sausage - your basic sausage. nothing special other than it was fairly spicy. Wife's review was it was pretty unsatisfying, but it wasn't bad. She did say, "Pit Room, Buck's and Pinkerton's are all a lot better."
  6. I had blood brothers in Bellaire for the first time today. It was pretty darn solid. Nothing stood out necessarily as exceptional, but everything was very solid. Brisket was well cooked, light on smokiness but it was there. The lean side was a touch dry, but it was pretty late in their service. It wasn’t all dry by any means, just slightly. Moist was moist and tasty. I would like more smoke, but that’s a pretty small nitpick. They were out of pork and beef ribs, but they have me a sample of an end cut of pork ribs they had left. They actually were solid too. I had a hot linknsausage and it was prettt good. Spicy, smoky. It’s nice to have competent bbq pretty close to the house.
  7. they are. This one and the audi Q8 seem to be the best executed from a style perspective. They certainly look a ton better than the BMW and Merc versions. I just didn't expect such a car that has a lack of real function from Porsche. I may be proven wrong on this, but I just don't see the need in their lineup.
  8. So.....Porsche...… After about a 20 year run of almost flawless execution they may have lost their minds. It would seem they are taking the Lambo/Audi Q8 platform and leveraging it into what is being called the Cayenne Coupe. I am not sure what market theyre really trying to capture here. Steal sales from the shit box BMW X6? The merc gls? No idea, but I just don't see justifying the expense to add/modify production lines to add this vehicle to the fold. that said, I kinda like the styling. But still, it's not by any means a coupe, and it's not an SUV. It's heavy and sits kinda like an SUV, but has reduced utility. To me this is a vehicle that does nothing well. It's a hybrid vehicle that doesn't excel as a crossover as it's not enough "coupe", and is a terrible SUV as the slope of the back does not allow for much, if any, utility. Maybe I am just out of touch. About the only thing I see this doing is cannibalizing sales of the regular Cayenne, but why spend all the R&D and production money to basically lower sales of your best selling vehicle? http://www.caranddriver.com/photos/g26885616/2020-porsche-cayenne-coupe-photos-info-gallery/
  9. luckily I do not have it on the steering wheel. Only in the middle of the seats. The outside bolsters are regular leather. I would think it would be pretty worn and nasty on a steering wheel with all the oil from your hands. The middle section of seats? I like it. Keeps my ass planted in the seat in the corners, and so far mine has worn very well. Still looks new.
  10. The Montage in Beverly Hills had one of the new RR SUV's as a guest shuttle. I don't think I have ever seen something that screamed ultimate class quite so loudly, yet with so much grace. Thing is unreal. I have seen two of the Lambo SUV's on the road. I can't quite decide on it yet.
  11. that's a damn solid line up right there. I am going to the Cult in Houston at HOB in May. Really fired up to see them again. I'd go to the above festival just to drool at Susanna Hoffs for their set.
  12. I had some 4505 Cheddar Jalapeno pork rinds that I dipped in Taco Deli Dona sauce the other day. Pretty gotdayum tasty.
  13. if you take that original NCD and dip in in the nuclear orange Frito Lay Cheddar Jalapeno Cheese Dip you take the GOAT Snack chip and bump it a notch or two at least.
  14. as expected Pink was incredible again last night. 21 song set list, great energy, all live, great stunts and stage effects. She's always worth the price of admission.
  15. Going to Pink tonight. Say what you want, the woman puts on an incredible show.
  16. I am 6'4 and I don't have any issues getting into my cars, both of which are low slung, one of which has alcantara seats. im not seeing any unusual wear and tear from getting into and out of the one that has the alcantara seats.
  17. he's totally underselling this pastrami, and how awesome it is. I really hope this becomes a weekly special, and I hope it has some form of sauerkraut/braised cabbage with it. I cannot recall ever having pastrami that flavorful or tender, and the smoke only added to the allure. It was exceptionally spectacular. So disappointed I only took a taste of it rather than about 2 pounds worth.
  18. she was also the most average chef in the competition. Never did anything that was great, but never went home due to never really making an giant error either. She was a solid yet unspectacular chef pretty much the entire time. And she seemed pretty petty to boot.
  19. I would keep my 2016 Panamera GTS. Checks all the boxes for me. Naturally aspirated V8, can haul a good bit of stuff in the back, can haul 4 people, and can haul ass. I might consider upgrading to the new Panamera GTS, but the turbo engine kinda bothers me.
  20. Glad to wait. Was glad to see the place packed, it gave me a reason to have some van winkle, and I got to meet another great surly dude @deadshank
  21. That pastrami was freaking legit. I totally messed up and only got a “taste” for my to go order. In hindsight, I would have bought the whole damn thing. Yes. It was that good.
