  1. In a few days we will celebrate the 100th birthday of one of, if not the most, important people in sports history. Pretty solid article below on his 100th birthday, and insight into who he was as a man. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/jackie-robinsons-100th-birthday-his-faith-in-god-was-the-secret-ingredient-to-his-success
  2. Got rolling last night. I love how this show is straightforward with action, hot chicks who get nekkid, cool scenic locations, lots of cool guns, and doesn't "try too hard" to be something more than that. Off to a good start with Russian agents tangling with Section 20, and the Asian triads getting involved.
  3. if you wanted to boil it down in the most simplistic terms, Tom Herman is the first coach we have had since DKR who hates to lose way way way more than he likes to win. He's the first guy who despises losing as it is a reminder that someone is better than you. It's a measurement of who you are as a coach, team, and a man. I much prefer these people leading teams, and organizations in which I work and invest. That culture is ingrained in the program now. It has been missing for 40+ years, and our dismal record of winning the B12 and SWC the last many years proves that theory. That is about to change.
  4. his first players meeting he showed and literally outlined their season based on the games they would win and lose. I have never, ever in the history of playing and coaching sports ever heard a coach put the idea in the heads of players that they are going to lose. Never. He pretty much told them their ceiling was going to be 7-4. Everyone left thinking they didn't really need to bother going out and putting in the work if that was their upside. They could do that partying and chasing skirt.
  5. and doesn't even include the fact that he declined a penalty against Okie Aggy when they had made a first down. Nor include being down by 14ish points in the same game, on the Okie Aggy 46 with 4:32 left and he f*cking punted. I would have fired him in the parking lot after that game.
  6. seriously. car is damn near a carbon copy of the corvette.
  7. it can't be overstated what a hellaciously good deal that is. That damn rib I had was crazy. Granted, I clearly got an extra choice cut being "from the internet" and such, but it wasn't just a monstrous rib, it was an impeccably well smoked, marbled, and tasty one. That thing was like A5 marbling, and all that marbling absorbed a ton of smoke. ive had countless beef ribs in my day, but that one on Saturday was absolutely the best one ive ever had. and it's not even close.
  8. can you believe his little buddy ate virtually his whole rib AND damn near all of that turkey baked potato? that little dude can eat. my kiddo doesn't eat much, but he did like both brisket and turkey, and really liked the flat bread.
  9. that ribs deal is crazy. I must have had well over a pound of meat (not including the bone) on that rib I had today. it was so damn good too. tender, marbled, good god almighty that thing was awesome.
  10. Sad news that former Top Chef contestant Fatima Ali has lost her battle with cancer. RIP, Fatima. Enjoyed her kind soul on the show. https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/‘top-chef’-star-fatima-ali-passes-after-cancer-battle/ar-BBSJVsA?ocid=spartanntp
  11. clearly some reading comprehension issue with that one. I have no idea how he read your responses and thought you were bagging on the place. He obviously knows nothing about you as that is 100% not your style.
  12. I recall marvin zindler busting them out for rat shit all over their kitchen and the big S, SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE!
  13. indeed it is. THe oak smoked brisket bahn mi at Les Baget is my favorite in town by a large measure. And of course, we have discussed the short rib pho at Les Noodle many times.
  14. but he served it while standing in a hot tub, I mean, how does that not scream lake party? All that after he proclaimed he was "going to show the judges he knows how to do meat". Not so fast, my friend.
  15. How in the f*ck can Harold baines be in the HOF and NOT Dale Murphy? that's just so f*cked up.
  16. eddie definitely chose poorly when compiling his team.
  17. no question the place is incredible. Their shot guns are about 100 over any other retail, and those assholes charged me 100 for a FFL transfer fee on a gun I had delivered there. That's just absurd. but no doubt, it's a great place.
  18. you aren't right about anything. I spend virtually no time in this arena, and haven't been that active on the political boards since about 2014 when I was bitching about paul ryan and shitty ass mitch mcconnell failing to conduct any fiscally responsible acts. Not that they would have ever gotten any signed by Obama, but it just really isn't worth wasting time or energy on. My position hasn't changed, my bitching about terrible politicians who fail the American people has declined, but that has nothing to do with who is "in power". It is a waste of time and energy. One side pretends to care, but doesn't act. The other side has no pretense that they care. wash, rinse, repeat. if you think I didn't have the same disdain for Ryan as I did Boehner, and Pelosi before and after those two nitwits, I can't really help you, but I am glad you think you "won".
  19. I’ma try and get over there Saturday after our baseball tourney.
  20. ok. cool. Internetz, serious business.
  21. again, you're assuming those top marginal rated were actually paid. They were not. Fine, if you want those rates, then also go back and restore the deductions that have all been phased out. Point being, revenue collections as a percentage of GDP are virtually unchanged today vs when top rates were 70-90%. There were countless tax shields, shelters, deductions, etc that are now no longer available. Not sure why all of you in favor of such a punitive tax rate fail to grasp this very significant issue, and furthermore why do you believe you're entitled to confiscate 70% of someone else's earnings, and why would you think our government that is 20+ trillion in debt would be a reasonable vehicle to redistribute this confiscated capital. There is zero logic there leading one to believe this is a decent idea.
  22. sure. go ahead and try and explain away how policy rooted in "redistribution" of wealth, call it "socialism", "collectivism", "communism", "totalitarianism", whichever term you want to use matters little as they all result in the same outcome, is an example of how a society should be run. Give us one example where the people ruled by such policies are thriving as a major power, and have economic and personal liberties. It won't take you long in your search. There isn't one. But keep on believing that policy can work in some form and result in a higher standard of living for it's subjects despite zero examples in history.
  23. so Venezuela just didn't get their socialism/redistribution quite right, but if AOC and Bernie led the new redistribution revolution here it would all work out. Yeah. that'd be just swell, Beaver. roll your eyes all you want. go ahead and list all those great socialist empires where their citizens are thriving economically and have any social freedoms.
  24. like I said, I had hoped for it, but certainly didn't expect it. Fiscal sanity doesn't buy votes. One side has no intent to ever do anything about it. The other at least pretends to care, but will never actually do anything about it due to fear of losing power.
  25. where did I saw I was banking on trump doing that? I feel he has failed to control the process, but that does not mean I really expected him to do it. I would have welcomed it, but expecting financial sanity is a losers proposition from either side at this point. None of that has anything to do with the point of this thread which was discrimination against people who voluntarily want to serve their country.
