uh, shouldn't it be 1/1024th breed?

have heard this from a number of people. Really sad to hear. Back from about 2005-2014 when my parents had a place down in lockhart I would drive over to Luling to get que and tote it back out to Lockhart. I know things have changed but back then I was eating at CM, Smitty's, Kruez and Blacks on the regular. There was a pretty clear hierarchy that developed that went something like this: 1. Smitty's - their very best days generally were not as great as great as either CM or Luling, BUT they were always the most consistently very good. In that time I never got anything from them that wasn't at least good, and much more often than not, very good. 2. Kruez - their very best que was better than Smitty, BUT way more inconsistent. When they knocked it out of the park it was just incredible, but they were just as likely to give you some way below average junk. 3. CM - these guys absolutely served me the very best brisket I have ever tasted. I've eaten at most of the "best of" places and never had brisket as great as they served on their very best days back then. It was mind blowing. That said, they were definitely the most wildly inconsistent. The had the highest or highs, and the lowest of lows. About as often as they put out mind blowing awesome, they'd put out beef jerky shit. 4. Blacks - was wholly mediocre back then to me. They were one step above Chisholm Trail back then. I have been told they have gotten way better these days. I haven't been through LH in a while, nor to CM in several years now. My parents moved away from the area, and I don't go through there these days. CM was always such a great treat of old texas. When they were on, my goodness, it was so damn good.

That shit right there’s funny no matter what you think about fucked up politics.

Let’s be clear here. I do not support the trump administration. I am in favor of some of the policies. I didn’t vote for trump. I do not defend him. That said, still not seeing any laws racist to black Americans as claimed. Theres just no data to back that up. I can see how some might think his policy on illegal entry is based on race. I don’t think he doesn’t want people here because of their heritage, but I’m not defending seperating kids. I do believe people who break our laws should be subject to penalty. I’m sure that makes me a racist too.
-
Ah. so were those laws racist when Obama did it, or only when trump did it? Are they no longer racist now that it is changed? Does he get credit for ending that racist policy from the Obama days? Last I checked that was not applied to American citizens, but felons breaking immigration laws. Im not a fan of separating kids from parents, but allegedly the reason that was done was because people were bringing children who were not their own across. Allegedly. I don't think applying immigration laws on the books is racist. I am sure all the lefties disagree and don't believe we are a nation of laws. I have stated many times I am open to new immigration laws, but until that law is passed by congress and signed by a president (not an executive order), then the laws on the books need to be followed. either youre a nation of laws or not. FOllow process to change laws.
-
still waiting on some link or direction on those laws harming black people. Odd that people are so willing to defend policy that was not all that successful, but claim the guy who reversed anti business policies that has led to income and job growth amongst blacks is a racist with exactly zero documentation available. He has passed racist laws? GTFO. where? document one. ONe law enacted by trump that is racist to americans.
-
You can definitely go fuck yourself. I’m a ton of things, some of them not very flattering, racist is most certainly not one of those things.
-
Well that settles it. Clearly trump is a racist.
-
I think we are going to need a link to those policies and people. So far his efforts at harming blacks and other minorities have been nothing but failure.
-
what is there to get? you claim he has policies that are racist and hurting minorities. It's a position that is wrong and proven untrue. Believe what you want, but believing that shit is nothing more than a futile effort in trump derangement syndrome. If you want to wallow in that, feel free. Seems to be a prime example of being guided by feelings and emotions over actual results. nothing new there.
-
you can find improvements continuing. we all get it, you don't like it and that's fine. the lefties like pancho continuing to believe and support a position that trump is attempting to sabotage blacks is what has been disproven here. how much credit you want to give him for the economy is up to you. none? fine. you'd still have to admit the left position that trump is some racist installing policies harmful to blacks and minorities is a lie. There is no lag on that.

so that negates the data compiled not by Stephen Moore, or did some secret trump at the DOL make those up in order to make Trump look good? Does the fact that Stephen moore wrote the article and the fact that you hate trump negate the data that shows when trump has been in office job growth in the black community has been 40% higher per month, or does the data show wages didn't actually increase? The argument that trump is a racist, Nazi hell bent on keeping minorities and blacks down using some secret policy is quite frankly, an absolute lie. It simply is not and is never going to happen. You want proof that his policies are the reason for the growth? Be honest, nothing anyone could present to you would ever suffice. Your mind is made up on this. THat said, on the other side, you cannot, in any way, prove that Trump policies are being made and tailored with the detriment of minorities in mind. It 100% is not true. As stated, quite the opposite is happening. You don't have to like it, but your argument that trump is some racist is silly. If he is, he is really really terrible at it.
-
good luck with all that. good lord. At least the conservative bastion from the Chicago tribune decided to go ahead and look at some actual results. FWIW - I am no trumpster. I did NOT vote for him. That said, I do support many of his policies while also thinking he acts like a petulant child at times. If he's some sort of Nazi, racist, etc whos aim is to keep minorities down, he certainly isn't very good at it. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/commentary/ct-perspec-race-trump-economy-progress-0822-story.html Words matter for sure, but actions do speak louder than words. Leftists believe that good intentions are more important than results. If you meant well and your heart is in the right place, that's what really matters, according to this creed. As Bill Clinton put it so famously: "I feel your pain." And that was enough. No one cared more about the plight of black Americans than Barack Obama — our first African-American president — who won well more than 90 percent of the black vote. But the sad paradox of Obama's presidency is that a president who was going to lift up black America economically didn't deliver. From 2009 to 2015, the incomes of black Americans fell by more than $900 per family adjusted for inflation. So far under Trump, median family incomes have risen by more than $1,000, according to Sentier Research and based on Census Bureau numbers. These numbers are not broken down by race, but it's a pretty good bet that black incomes have risen with those of other races under Trump. What about other metrics of black economic progress under Trump? It's early for sure, but we have some preliminary results since Election Day, when the stock market started its latest bull market run. The black unemployment rate has fallen by a full percentage point in the last year, black labor force participation is up and the number of black Americans with a job has risen by 600,000 from last year. Preliminary data show black wages and incomes are up since the election. The rate of job growth per month for blacks under Trump has so far been 40 percent higher than the monthly average under Obama. Trump has averaged nearly 30,000 new black jobs per month. That's especially remarkable because Obama was elected when employment was way down. Another issue that is critically important to black and Hispanic economic progress is good schools. Trump is advancing the idea of school choice so that every child can attend a quality school, public or private. In cities such as Washington, D.C., and Milwaukee, the children who benefit from voucher and scholarship programs are predominantly black. Trump wants to increase by tenfold the number of black children who benefit from these vouchers and scholarships. The goal here is to give every poor or minority child the same range of education choices that wealthy families have. The same people who denounce Trump for being a racist hypocritically oppose Trump's plan for better school options for black children. I have heard many liberal commentators compare Trump to George Wallace, the late Alabama governor who defended school segregation and stood in front of the white public schools with armed guards to keep the black children out. Now we have liberals and teachers unions figuratively standing in front of the high-quality white private schools like modern-day George Wallaces trying to keep black children out. Trump also wants more infrastructure spending, more energy jobs and more apprenticeship programs so our youth have access to better jobs and better training. Disproportionately, blacks and other minorities will benefit from these programs, because fewer have the financial capability to go to a four-year college. So is Trump a racist who doesn't care about the future of black Americans? Let's face it. He's no Jack Kemp when it comes to talking about race and healing wounds with his words. But Trump is creating more jobs and higher incomes for blacks and other minorities and is trying to give a better education to every disadvantaged black child in America. That is a pretty impressive civil rights record. Stephen Moore is a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation and a senior economic analyst at CNN. I am sure DD will be along any moment to tell us how all those positive results that never happened in 8 years under Obama are somehow due to Obama.

Jack shit is better than what your savior Obama did for the economy in general and blacks in particular. https://www.dailysignal.com/2016/09/14/how-hispanics-blacks-have-fared-in-obama-economy/ Based on the new Census report, the estimated median income for blacks in 2015 was $37,211. That’s up from the previous year, when it was $35,694. But it’s only nominally higher than when Obama came into office at $36,179. The year before Obama ran, the estimated median income for blacks was $37,809. Pre-recession, 2007, the median income for black Americans was $38,970.

the guy is a hip hop artist in LA, how much of an expert do I need to be to know he is an outlier amongst his peers in his chosen industry and residence? Helen Keller can see that.

like others have said Kanye is nutty as a squirrel turd. I don't really GAF about the thoughts or endorsement of celebs and their political views. I'd rather not know, frankly. Their thoughts do not sway my opinions of politicians, nor of the celebrities work in their given craft. I will give Kanye credit for marching to the beat of his own drum, and refusing to be stuck on the "democrat plantation" that has proven to be a failure as a safe space when it comes to policy impact on minorities. It's not easy to have independent thought amongst his peer group for sure. That said, I still don't GAF what his actual views are.

definitely seems to lack some focus. ANd you're absolutely right on the pricing. I would definitely not consider myself "cheap", but I was astonished when I got the bill at 1/5 steak. I eat at more steakhouses than I care to admit so I know the deal when you walk in. Even knowing that, my god. Our party was 3. Me, wife (from nam - literally), son (8 at the time). We had 2 apps, mediocre wine that I think was probably $95ish if I recall, 2 steaks. Son and I split the porterhouse special. Don't recall dessert or not. I do recall getting the bill, and just shaking my head. It was a true WTF? Worse was our porterhouse that was allegedly from one of God's most impeccable creatures was tough as hell, and lacking any sort of flavor one would expect from such an alleged prime cut. -
Damn I miss golf. Don't think I'm ever going to get to where I can play again. At one point in the early/mid 00's I sported a nice 5 handicap. I played twice a week, and loved it. I could hit the ball a mile. Various old sports injuries, accidents, life, etc got in the way of my golf. I have had both shoulders repaired numerous times, had a spine surgery, etc. I have never been able to practice enough nor play to really get back into it. I have played 4-5 rounds the last 6-8 years. Terrible each time. Part of that is I still have my set of Ben Hogan Apex 50 blades with the stiff flex shafts. I think it's the Apex 5 shaft in the things. I even had the 1 Iron in this set, and hit that off the tee for years. My body has no memory off, nor the flexibility to even come close to making that old golf swing. I can still hit the 7-E pretty well, but nowhere close to the distances I used to hit. I have found that due to all this when I play now I simply cannot even have fun. A well hit drive now maybe goes 260, and I might hit 2-3 well in a round. I did have some TM irons for a bit. They were cavity back, "game improvement" irons with more flexible shafts. Problem with those is they were so freaking offset I would hook the f*ck outta them, and couldn't work the ball at all. I chunked those pretty quickly. ANyone out there have any advice on how to maybe get back into it, and potentially make it fun again? Seems like a pretty big hill to climb.

I think that's a bit harsh. He did great things at Ibiza and Catalon. I think Underbelly was definitely deserving of it's praise. I think the guy is creative and talented, and really good at marrying various cuisines of the Houston melting pot. He does seem to have a bit of chef ADD, but I also admire that he doesn't sit on his laurels and is willing to take risk and do something new and creative. -
Hard to believe a guy who alleges he doesn't take PAC money could raise the kind of money he is with taking ONLY money from individuals.

Jucy's in Longview. Goddamn that is a tasty burger! Definitely one of the best I have ever had. Also when I was a kid and would visit my grandparents in Pittsburg, TX they had a place called Franklins. It was a pharmacy up front that had an old school fountain station. Out in the back of the building they served Hot Links and burgers. I cannot tell you what I would do to go back in time and have one more of those burgers, and a few hotlinks there with my grandfather. Those burgers and links were both so damn good. Absolutely phenomenal, and 100% guarantee the place couldn't pass a health inspection if it was performed by Ronnie milsap.

Georgia James opening tonight. Anyone going? Based off my experience at 1/5 Steak, this doesn't really move the needle for me. I can't help but think SHeppherd has made a strategic error gutting UB, and converting to a steakhouse when his 1/5 steak seemed to be pretty underwhelming to most people I know who tried it. I don't ever even thingk to go to UB Preserve, and my friend who have been have largely been disappointed that is just doesn't seem to have the same juice it did as UB. THat said, I am sure he is going to make way more money on the steak house in the short term. I suppose if he gets it right it will be a huge money maker for him. I'm just not that excited about it, but interested in hearing if it turns out better than the 1/5 steak.
