  1. you can get a good reliable 3 series for that. great cars. it's the new ones that are a joke.
  2. sad deal. an acquaintance of mine was murdered over a car this past weekend, at least that is how it appears. I only knew him casually. We had some of the same friends. My wife is an attorney, and is often on the defense side of his cases. We shared a love of cars, and the few of times I saw him at parties we had the car connection. Of course, his car collection is amongst the most incredible in the entire US. he has something like 20 Ferrari's. Hard to imagine he's gone. He was seriously one of the nicest an humble people I have ever met. Just senseless. some great pics and videos of his collection can be found easily. RIP, Randy. https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/man-charged-in-killing-of-prominent-edwardsville-lawyer/article_0f847d4d-b586-50bd-9119-47c25eef98ec.html
  3. Hosting a dinner tonight with some friends and for the first time I am opening one of my Schrader LPV wines. Also bringing out a Phelps insignia 2007. Both are 100 point Parker ratings if you’re into such things. Im always interested in those ratings as a guide. I will say the few times I’ve had the 2007 insignia, and frankly this applies to the 2007 vintage in general, I’ve felt it was vastly over rated. I haven’t had it in about 5 years so I’m hoping the extra 5 years of age has allowed it to blossom a bit. I had the same feeling about the alpha omega era 5 years ago and a recent taste of that wine has proven the extra 5 years has been beneficial.
  4. Went on a duck hunt this weekend and made some smoked duck gumbo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. uh...no. it was most certainly the new vette. unmistakable.
  6. yesterday morning driving down Wilshire BLV in Beverly hills I got my first look at the new 2020 Corvette. I am aware they're not available yet, but some old dude was out cruising in one yesterday. It was Rapid Blue in color which on the website looks light/royal. in person it looks like the Porsche Miami Blue. a pretty pale/ baby blue. Didn't get a chance to get a picture as I was driving, and he was driving towards me. From my brief encounter/glimpse I can say I was pretty blown away seeing it in the wild. I thought it looked much better in person than on a computer screen, but also it was completely distinguishable what it was immediately. Despite many, myself included, saying it is a Ferrari design rip off, I felt like that was not the case seeing it live. It's is a damn striking and unique looking car. I am very excited about that car and it's future.
  7. Not Disney related, but California related. Spent the morning at Disney. Headed to the montage for a night. Went over to melrose because the kid wanted to visit all these sneaker shops. He’s into that stuff. My goodness, it’s brutal with the freaking pot smokers and general derelicts everywhere. I’m a “do whatever you want at your house, idgaf”, but geez the whole area was like walking around in cheech and Chongs car. Just awful. I’ve officially entered get off my lawn territory. Again, do whatever you want at your house. I just don’t see the upside to toking up in public. And to be fair, people doing the same in the middle of Beverly Hills as we were walking around.
  8. The Star Wars sets and cantina are really cool. Honestly, everything else is pretty much another wasted opportunity for Disney with Star Wars. The MF ride is lame as shit. This is at Disneyland. They need to get the other ride completed and running.
  9. my most recent experiences tell my you won't need to wait long.
  10. that would make some sense to sorta adopt to western culture. I have not personally seen that, but it's a good idea. My Vietnamese wife has simply always told me we cannot ever give knives as a gift as it's against Asian custom. I just go with whatever she tells me.
  11. I would also add if they are Asian it is considered bad luck to give someone knives as a gift.
  12. get a long carving knife and/or a chef's knife. she could then add a pairing or utility knife, and basically be done.
  13. maybe instead of a set, you buy them one nice, versatile $200 knife? nobody needs more than about 3 knives.
  14. cool enough if it gets this back on track, and off the almost derailment into....whatever it was devolving into.
  15. serious lee. get back on track. somebody go buy something cool and report back.
  16. it is, but it isn't very spicy. I figured if the "hot" was not really hot at all, then the reaper would be hot but tolerable. Dear God, no. not even the same galaxy. I like that place a ton. Good fried pickles too. Never again will I ever consider that reaper. I eat hot stuff all the time. that shit is in a league of it's own.
  17. if they pull the trade they may be able to get the rendon thing done, or they may decide it's worth it to pay the LT his contract would likely cause. Of course, you then have the Springer problem the following year at which point you have: Rendon - 25+ Bregman - 20+ Altuve - 20+ Verander 30+ Grienke 30+ that's a ton of cash locked up. where do you get another 25-30 for springer. cannot happen.
  18. if you want a seriously hot chicken, the reaper sandwich at the bird haus in the conservatory will blow your f*cking head off and melt your innards. I was only able to get two bites into it and had to punt. thing nearly killed me. try at your own risk. you will lose.
  19. bregman is not the answer as an every day short stop on a team with WS aspirations. that talk needs to end.
  20. uh...wut? you are not "saving" any money by trading corlabia and signing rendon. he's going to command 20-25 per.
  21. heading out Friday morning for out annual "elf on the shelf" Disneyland extravaganza. He's kind of at the point now where the Disney portion of the trip is mostly nostalgic. That is good news and bad news. Bad news, he's growing up too fast. Good news we are only staying in Anaheim one night before moving on to the montage for the remainder of the trip. Always love Disney with the holiday decorations. it is special for sure.
  22. generally I agree. he hits -5 in tourney ball since he kept demolishing -10 and -8 CF Zens every couple of months. We have tried the lower drop USA bats and the higher drop ones. He has generally liked the lower drop ones for whatever reason in the USA platform. we will give this a shot. He's only hit it a few times since we have been trying to fit in a few tournaments. So far he likes it. If he ends up not like this Easton I will like just get him a -8 aluminum/alloy and call it a day. There seems to be no good answer in the USA bat space to date.
  23. yep. still in. Didn't think the episode this week was all that great, but they can't all be perfect. This and Seal Team are my network TV must watch shows. both solid.
  24. andy pettitte is a known liar. His dad busted him out on Houston radio when he slipped up and admitted he went to a drug store to pick up roids for andy.
  25. generally it depends. I have a tejas smoker with a center fire box with a water reservoir between the heat fire box and the smoking chamber. If I had to do them one way I would simply do them fat down to act as another barrier between the heat source and the meat. What I actually do it rotate it and flip it every hour to ensure an even cooking, and no one side exposed to any potential pit falls too soon. The whole thought that the "fat side up, the fat melts through the meat keeping it moist" is mostly bullshit according to John Fullilove.
