  1. Thanks, I hope to go back again some day. This trip was actually due entirely to my mom. She passed away in October of last year and she loved that area of the country. She wanted her kids, grand kids and everyone's spouses to go there, so she set aside enough for us all to make this trip and paid for it. We had a lot of stuff planned around remembering her while just enjoying the beauty that is Jackson Hole. I'll make that pilgrimage again, but my kids are starting to grow up and the oldest are heading out on their own. A trip with just me and wife will be fantastic too.
  2. You live in (or near) Bugtussle, Akansas?
  3. To add that story a little. My son's coach left for a bigger school after my son's Junior year. New coach came in and ran a much more conventional game plan. Under the previous coach, they'd usually win at least 1 playoff game before getting bounced. First year under the new coach they got bounced in the first round and had a running clock for pretty much the entire second half. Not sure if it's the same in Texas, but here a running clock starts with a 35 point differential. Pretty much the same starters on the offense and defense my son's junior and senior seasons. Now, in the new coach's second season, they made it to the semi finals. They are now in year three and are playing great so far without a single college prospect on the roster. It's amazing how much coaching impacts high school sports. Some coaches just have the ability to motivate players way beyond what the player thinks they can do.
  4. He was pretty good. Did his job. But yeah, the talent levels of schools that they played were typically better than ours. Smaller school within their classification.
  5. One of my boys played for a coach that adopted this style from Kevin Kelley. I could count the punts for an entire season on one hand with fingers to spare. Sometimes it was fun to watch, sometimes it was painful. They didn't have near the success that Kelley did (obviously), but they won more than they probably should have given the talent level.
  6. I am more bothered by the cables hanging down under the TV.
  7. Kid called him a Kansas City Faggot. Coach then got pissed because he never played in Kansas City.
  8. Fuck it. Who really cares anymore? I hope that the attendance for the remaining home games looks like it did in Pittsburgh this weekend.
  9. You and me both. Just checked and 8 runs so far in the bottom of the seventh and still no outs. Shildt is clueless.
  10. And another blown save for Reyes. Even before he started blowing all the saves his WHIP was horrible. Fuck, this team sucks.
  11. Mo needs to go, but he promoted Girsch to be the fall guy. If anyone gets shitcanned, it will be Girsch. The whole front office along with Mike Shildt, Jeff Albert and Mike Maddox should be gone, but that won't happen.
  12. Don Williams, Good Ole Boys Like Me. Also, That's My Job by Conway Twitty.
  13. All of the country singers that take me back to me and my dad just hanging out are passing away. The drives to go fishing, working out in the yard or garage, etc. The lives that tie the time and memories together are disappearing. This one hurts.
  14. It's just the one. he's still young enough to think that I actually know a thing or two. We are from a pretty rural area in Missouri, so the anti-vaxers are a big crowd. But yeah, my kids are smart. They take after their mom. Edited to add: While we live in Missouri, they were all born in Texas, so there's that.
  15. I'm in Missouri. My kids start school tomorrow. The latest district procedure is that if a kid is fully vaccinated (and proof is on file with the school nurse), then they will only be required to quarantine if they show one or more symptoms. I have 2 kids in the high school and they are fully vaccinated. I have one going into the middle school and he has had the first dose with the second in about a week. I have another in the elementary school. As soon as it's available to him, he'll get vaccinated. We have talked about wearing a mask even if no one else is. He's cool with it.
  16. Probably road kill racoon.
  17. There's a certain poster that could probably use them for bed springs.
  18. We just got back from Jackson on Monday. We spent a total of 10 days and it was amazing. My pictures don't add anything to those that have already been posted, but I felt the urge to write something about the beauty in that part of the country. We flew into Salt Lake City and then drove up to Rexburg, ID the first day. We spent a day there and went to Yellowstone Bear World and the Legacy Flight Museum. Both were very cool. We then drove through the West Yellowstone entrance and drove down to Jackson. We made several stops on the drive, including Old Faithful. We didn't spend too terribly much time sight seeing that day, as we had plans to go back up during the week. While in Jackson, we took a scenic river trip on Snake River one day and then did a whitewater trip on the same river later in the week. Both trips were fantastic. We did get back up to Yellowstone and spent an entire day driving around up there. At one point we got into a traffic jam that delayed us by a couple of hours. Once we saw the reason, we were not disappointed. There was a herd of bison, probably at least 200, that were in the midst of moving from one side of the road to the other. The same day we went to the Grand Prismatic and the Little Grand Canyon. Back in the Jackson area we went to Teton Village and rode the gondola up to the top and saw an amazing view of the valley below. I can't recommend this trip enough if you have never been. The only drawback about the trip was a bit of a haze from the wildfires, but even that got better as the week progressed and the winds shifted. There was a little rain at some point that helped clear the air quite a bit. When we left Jackson, we drove back to Salt Lake City and spent a day and half seeing the sites there. This trip was a first for me and it was the best vacation that my family has had.
  19. I'm just not invested in this team at all this season. I'm pretty thankful that I've had other more important things to do besides watch any of these shit shows. I think that the entire coaching staff and front office need to go. I usually go to a handful of games, but this season I have no desire to spend the time and money to see this shit.
  20. The last time I had an energy drink I had to lay down because I got severely light headed and my heart was racing. Haven't touched them since.
  21. Lake of the Ozarks. Rent a house/cabin and a boat and spend the days on the water.
  22. A semi pulling a trailer that does not match. Amazon trailers being pulled by red tractors have really drawn my attention recently.
  23. This team is a fucking embarrassment.
  24. I am of the firm, yet uninformed opinion, that no matter what they do to tax a specific income group, I'm going to be the one getting fucked.
