  1. I just received 14 texts in 13 minutes.
  2. Yeah, quoting myself for the update. We got Lady last Monday. So far, so good. She has never lived in a house, but she has not had an accident in the house yet. She and Sadie are getting along great. Lady is still a bit nervous and maybe a little unsure of things, but overall she's adapting great. There are 2 issues that are making me a bit nervous. 1. She wants to go after the cat. The first time she did it the cat just ran upstairs. Lady will not go upstairs or down to the basement. The second time, the cat stopped as soon as she got on the stairs, turned around, and got Lady right on the nose. There was a cat claw stuck and we had to pull it out. She hasn't gone after her full blast again, but I'm constantly aware and watching out. 2. When the dogs get treats, if Sadie gets a little too close, Lady bares her teeth. Nothing has happened yet, but again, I'm a little concerned. It's not a problem with regular dog food, just treats. I can manage that though. Sadie and Lady are playing some, which is so cool to watch. Lady is getting pretty close to delivering those pups. I'd be surprised if they weren't here this week.
  3. Nah, just my battery.
  4. I'd rather be pistol whipped from Joplin to Denison than be left in Oklahoma.
  5. Our trash day is Wednesday, so Thursday this week with the holiday. I got up this morning and started taking all the trash out. We had quite a bit with all the empty boxes. While I'm taking them out, Mrs. asks "Do you think they'll take it all?". Me: Not sure Mrs: What if they don't? Me: Then I'll be bringing some back in. Mrs: Or we could leave what's out there now and wait until next week for the rest. Me: I'll just take it all out now. Mrs: But what if they don't take it all? Me: What if they do? Around 9:00 this morning I get a text telling me that the took it all.
  6. Sometime around 2009-10 I was in Baghdad. One night it sounded like were being overrun because of the small arms fire. There were rounds coming down from the sky. I went to the closest bunker and there were a few soldiers in there. Turns out the Iraqis had announced the election results and the locals decided to celebrate.
  7. I knew the immigration guy. He was a Marine that worked in Public Affairs and was in a few movies as an extra, including JFK. CSB
  8. Yeah, I have never had the pleasure of having a dog that had puppies. It should be interesting. Delivery is all set. They are bringing her on Monday.
  9. We've had Sadie (Great Pyrenees and some sort of shepherd mix) for about 2 and a half months. She's a fantastic dog, as I've mentioned on here before. We've been looking for another from the same rescue to pair with her. The first one that we met was on a farm where the previous owner just let her keep having more and more litters. There were over 30 pyrs on that property and she had most of them according to the rescue. The other day the guy from the rescue said that she has regressed and probably wouldn't be a good fit with us (we have 5 boys at home, so it's a bit active). He brought another (her name is Lady) over on Tuesday and she's the one. She was at the same farm, but is about a year old. When he brought her to the house to meet us, she was a bit shy, but really opened up with my youngest 2 boys. There were many tail wags and a few kisses given by her. She also got along with Sadie, even when we brought her into the house. Wife got a call from the guy at the rescue today... "Well, Lady is pregnant." The plan was for her to get spayed on New Year's Eve, but that's going to have to wait. We were going to get her in January after healing up. Now we'll be getting her next week and we will foster the pups after they get here.
  10. Because even homeless people don't want to live in Toledo.
  11. This needs sound, because I know what it would sound like if it was me. We have a hill on one side of our house which is where my expletive laden trips take place. It's all grass, but still hurts like hell when I fall flat on my ass.
  12. Probably has huge feet.
  13. I keep checking this thread, but maybe I should just wait for the "Fire XXXXXX" threads to see who the new hires are.
  14. Dogs are so awesome. They ask for so little but give so much in return. We have had Sadie for a couple of months now. We drove down from Missouri to San Antonio over Thanksgiving and she was amazing. She has really found her spot in the family. We are going to meet another Great Pyrenees, hopefully tomorrow, from the same rescue. She is 3 years old:
  15. That would have been a nice parting gift to my ex many many many years ago.
  16. Well, it is Mizzou. Bad decisions are commonplace.
  17. Good on you, TXSooner518.
  18. Union wrestled at Rolla on Tuesday. Rolla pretty much smoked Union. I could not believe how many kids that Rolla had there. I did a little digging and their coach posted something on Twitter about having over 100 in their wrestling for the third year in a row. That is crazy.
  19. I need to get on Facebook and tag myself as safe.
  20. Fuck. I'm at work and was dumb enough to watch that. I had my headphones on, but I'm sure that my laughing sounded almost as funny as that chicken.
  21. I was listening to Miklasz this morning on the drive to work. He mentioned that MLB has stated that they are going to interview current and past employees of the Astros regarding the sign stealing investigation. Jeff Albert worked for the Astros in 2018, so he will likely be one that they talk to. It's obvious that the Cardinals aren't stealing signs (or if they are, they really suck at it), but it should at least be interesting.
  22. Yeah, I thought about talking shit, but decided that someone from our organization actually going to the federal penitentiary is a bit worse.
  23. So you're saying there's a chance...
  24. Maybe belongs in Can You Help Me with This, but this is the thread for dog lovers. I've posted a few pictures of Sadie in this thread. She's a 2 year old Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix. We got her from a rescue a little over a month ago. She's very patient, doesn't jump on people, potty trained, and the sweetest dog I've ever had. In short, this dog has worked her way into our hearts in a very short time. What I have started to see though, is that she has been mistreated in the past, and by the male in her house. There are little signs of it. About a week ago, I was working at home (bad weather day). When I work from home, she comes downstairs to the basement and spends much of the day with me. When she wants something, she gets up and comes over to me. Usually it's just some petting that she wants. That particular day, I reached down to pet her and when I touched her, I got shocked. I pulled my had back and that poor dog cowered in fear. There have been a few other instances where she cowers and it breaks my heart. I soothe her and everything is good, but I hate that she still has a fear of what appears to be me. My question to the other dog lovers is this: Will she ever lose that fear? I do not want this dog to think that I'm going to beat her, ever. I want her to respect me, but I'm almost afraid to even speak to her in a stern voice because she'll get scared. Edited to add a story from yesterday. Sadie loves to go with me everywhere. Yesterday I was about to go out for a bit and she could tell. She was at the door ready to go. I put her on the leash and we went out. The wife was already out there and I needed to put some wiper fluid in the vehicle. As soon as I opened the hood, this big girl jumped in the engine compartment and landed on the engine. Thank God it wasn't running. I lifted her out and she was unhurt. She just figured that was another way into my truck.
