  1. Or head ball coach at TCU, right?
  2. Yeah, I am pretty much with you. I also would add that a major league debut only happens one time for a player. I would have left him in. That being said, I wasn't watching the game so I don't know how he was looking at that point. I did hear this morning that he was laboring in the 6th and 7th innings.
  3. Might I suggest MS Paint and dick drawing?
  4. Yep. Battalion Commander tells SgtMaj formation at 07:00. SgtMaj tells 1stSgts that formation is at 06:45. 1stSgts tell platoon Sgts that formation as at 06:30. Platoon Sgts tell everyone to be there at 06:15. Fuck...
  5. Are the Bobs there yet?
  6. I was one of the poor bastards lining the street in the 1989 inauguration parade. I had been in for a whopping 5 months at the time, pretty much straight out of Marine Corps boot camp. At first, I thought it would be pretty cool. Then after about 2 seconds of preparation, I realized it was going to be the suck. On the day of the parade, we were on the buses sometime around 04:00 or so. They bused us up from Quantico and then we got into a formation for instructions. Stay at parade rest until Reagan's presidential limo drives by. Come to attention, render hand salute, then back to parade rest until the color guard and Bush come by. Then we marched out and got into our positions on the route. Holy shit, was it ever cold that day. We were on the parade route very early. I can't remember how long we stood there, but it seemed like 36 hours or so (yeah, exaggeration is my thing). Yes, these types of things just suck for the service members involved. Edited to add: I did get a real spiffy Certification of Appreciation with a stamped signature of some Army Brigadier General. That made it all worthwhile.
  7. Not my parking garage, we were at a mall. Interior lanes are two way traffic with straight in parking. Genius design, I know.
  8. Junior high and high school in Saint Louis. They bused a bunch of inner-city kids out to our school in the burbs. This was the early 80's. One of the kids was in my science class and sat next to me. He was always tired. Turned out that they got picked up around 5:00 AM or some such unholy hour. Kid hated the forced busing, but did like the school. Another guy was on our wrestling team. He was our heavyweight. One day we were running sprints in the hallway. We were lined up on both sides of the hallway and the sprinters would run between the lines down the middle of the hallway. One of the white trash kids got bumped by the heavyweight who was finishing his sprint. Next thing I know, the 'n' word flies. I thought the white trash kid had seen his last day on earth, but the heavyweight had a ton of restraint.
  9. Here's a twofer... Went with the wife to the fucking Apple Store on Saturday. Wait, this is a threefer. The Apple Store makes me surly. We parked in the parking garage. On the way out, as soon as I step outside of the door, I step in freshly chewed/spit out gum. Not just normal gum. Like Bubble Yum or something like that. So, people that spit their gum out on the ground anywhere, let alone in a doorway. When pulling out of our parking spot, I had two people jockeying for position to get my spot. Neither wanted to give an inch and wouldn't back up so that I could leave. People are stupid. So, maybe a fourfer. Stupid people make me surly.
  10. You'd be pretty quick in packing your shit up and getting out of dodge if you were a Hispanic person living in Texas. Practice, man.
  11. Records shows on the DVR for watching at a later date (sometimes months later). They show up on On Demand the very next day.
  12. Incompetent people at work that make statements and their voice goes up like they are asking a question. It's a constant thing with incompetent people that are trying to talk about things which they have no knowledge. I'm sure our clients just love it.
  13. I hate when people that decide that they need to make rule changes to make the game easier for some players. If they think that the game is boring with guys hitting into the shift, maybe those guys should learn to hit the other way.
  14. Reflections, ESPN graphics, LIVE in the upper right hand corner at the beginning that he moved out of the picture... Yeah, pretty sure that it's against some sort of law broadcasting ESPN content without their consent.
  15. Well, obviously if you don't do/act exactly like the person that created that list does, then you're in for eternal damnation.
  16. I'm going out on a limb (sarcasm) and picking Harper at home.
  17. Cardinal fan here (yeah, fuck all of you), so I'm going to stick with the NL Central. Cubs: Anthony Rizzo with an honorable mention to Addison Russell for the nacho incident. Reds: Joey Votto Brewers: Christian Yelich Pirates: Jameson Taillon It was a little difficult for me to come up with one for the Pirates with McCutchen no longer there. He killed the Cardinals, but just seems like a really good dude. But Taillon did an interview on the big sports radio station here in STL during one of their trips here this year. He talked about being diagnosed with cancer and really wants to spread the word to get checked. Really solid guy.
  18. I don't think that we're looking at anything quite as bad as the 70s. The farm system is actually very solid. They are stacked with arms. I think that they just need to build a team for defense and pitching rather than going out and trying to get a bunch of hitters. The problem is that they have shitty defense. Hell, what do I know. Maybe we are heading into a 70s type run.
  19. I've had the weekend to digest this and have really only got myself pissed off even more. It was time for Matheny and his BFF to go, that's for sure. The blame for the sorry state of this franchise should not be laid entirely at Matheny's feet, though. This is the first time that this ownership group has fired a manager mid-season. Think about that for a second. I think that this is Mo and possibly Girsch going into preservation mode. If the firing had waited until the end of the season, then Mo and Girsch would have likely been fired too. However, since they did it now and named in interim manager, the people that are responsible for this clusterfuck of a roster have bought themselves at least another year. If Shildt is somehow able to put the dumpster fire out (finish above .500 for the second half would be deemed a success by an interim manager), they they can say "see, the roster that we put together was good enough". They will then look for a new manager and possibly make a run at Girardi. If Shildt is not successful, then they'll simply point at him and say "he just wasn't ready". If Shildt pulls a rabbit out of his hat, then they still retain their jobs and Shildt gets the interim tag pulled. Mo at a minimum and possibly Girsch should have been shitcanned along with Matheny and his BFF. The timing of this just reeks of self-preservation.
  20. Except for Taysom Hill being there. I do not want to see him for eternity.
  21. They will make a run for Girardi first.
  22. Then be happy that he has millions in the bank and can get back to coaching at a more appropriate level. I am sure there is some t-ball team that would have him.
  23. Just saw it. About fucking time. Too bad Mabry wasn’t sent with him. Well, I stand corrected. Mabry gone too.
  24. But what about the shocker?
  25. Probably just swap Mabry and Matheny. That sounds about right.
