  1. I don't understand the world in which we live now. First, I am a gun owner. I don't carry, it stays in my house and is accessible (but not too accessible). I live in a somewhat rural part of Missouri. My house is on a hill and I have a pull through semi-circle drive in front. I have people pull into my drive on a somewhat regular basis to turn around because they made a wrong turn. If I'm outside when they pull into the driveway, I simply wave. I have never once thought of going to retrieve my pistol.
  2. I had a black gentleman, approximately 30 years old, knock on my door on Saturday. I also live in Missouri. Was I supposed to shoot him? He CLAIMED to be from Ameren and installed a smart meter. I'm now wondering if that was a ruse.
  3. I left the area a about 8 or 9 years ago, but I still wanted to post this. Surprised it took this long.
  4. I am having a hard time understanding how this team can be this bad. We all knew that the starting pitching was going to be average at best, but the lineup was supposed to be really good. I really thought that they would win more than they lost. I guess I am an idiot.
  5. Oli really fucked up on the TON situation. Unless there have been multiple instances where TON has been talked to about effort, there is no way that should have been put out there for the media. Personally, I have not witnessed or heard anything about TON being lazy in the field or on the base paths. Pretty sure that TON gets traded at some point and he'll regain his form from a couple of years ago.
  6. I guess holes haven't changed much since 1962.
  7. I didn't see him rounding third, but when Acuna fielded it I thought O'Neill was going to stay at third, even with 2 outs. That ball was hit pretty hard and Acuna.
  8. I am not sure which I despise more: The Braves or the Cardinal pitching staff.
  9. I am going to overreact... I really like this line up. I'm very worried about the entire pitching staff.
  10. Bates fucking College sounds fun.
  11. So the day is finally here. I love opening day, especially when the Cardinals are opening at home. Maybe one day I'll be able to attend, but I'll be watching on TV today. Have any of you been to opening day in STL? Also, are we going to roll with this thread this season?
  12. Prosecutor is going to have a nice summer on the lake.
  13. That's very sad, but unfortunately it's common. I've lost 3 friends that are veterans (2 that I served with in the Corps, one that I worked with as a contractor and he was a retired Army Sergeant Major) the same way.
  14. I don't see any scenario where Walker breaks camp on the big league roster. This team just doesn't do that. ETA: But Dejong will. It's a mystery. I saw a tweet the other day about how Dejong was hitting balls all the way to just shy of the warning track. Holy shit, that's amazing. He was hitting fly outs.
  15. If there is no limit, who gives a shit how many items you have? Definitely not the asshole.
  16. Chip's a done deal, right?
  17. I had a 2012 F150 up until a month or so ago when I handed it over to my son that just went to college up in Iowa. He had a little fender bender in his vehicle just before heading off to college in late December and the body shops here were taking appointments for March. So, I've been driving a piece of shit 2003 Highlander with 230K miles on it and a ding in the front passenger side fender for the last month. It was time for me to look into getting a "newer" vehicle, so I wasn't too upset by the turn of events. Hey, I was going to get a new truck! Then I started looking. Holy shit! The price of new trucks, similar to my previous one, has put me in the market for something else. I'm cheap and just can't justify spending 50K and up on a truck. I work from home and the only driving I do is in and around town dropping kids off at school and other functions. I could actually use a truck, but I won't pay that much money for a new one and I'm also not going to pay 30K for used one with 100K+ miles on it. I'm getting an SUV and on the occasion that I need to haul something, I'll pull a trailer.
  18. This really does suck. When famous people pass, I normally don't give it much thought. Someone that I don't know passing away just doesn't do much for my emotions. I may get a bit nostalgic, but that's pretty much it. But this one is actually going to have an impact on me. For some reason, he just feels like someone you know. I know it doesn't look good at all, but I hope that he somehow pulls through this. If he dies, it's going to hurt. He's so great for college football.
  19. Park in a handicap spot? You get what you get. ETA: I guess he earned that parking spot once he went in the store.
  20. My first vehicle was a 1980 Datsun pickup. I bought it from my dad in 1985 or 86 for $1200. I made a $100 payment each month for a year. It was a 5 speed manual and ran fine for what it was. The problem with it was the color. I have no idea what color they called it or why Datsun made vehicles in that color, but my friends and I called it baby shit. It was not a good look. My dad also put a camper shell on it that was brown and really didn't look good. That being said, it got me around and gave me some freedom. ETA: I just remembered that my mom had a 1980 Datsun B210 hatchback. Color? Yep, baby shit. Not only that, but they bought them on the same fucking day. We had 2 baby shit color Datsuns sitting in the driveway for years.
  21. Should be far fewer double plays that end in otherwise promising inning.
