  1. There is a 3 star SDE from Westlake named David Neil who looks suspiciously like Dan Neil. Any chance we pursue him as a preferred walk-on like we did Blake Brockermeyer’s son last year? Some of these guys are bound to be under-the-radar finds who can get meaningful reps.  If Dave is half as mean as Dan, I’d like to have him.

Scores TD for Northland Community and Technical College in upset loss to Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College.

I am not making these schools up. Others in the conference include North Dakota State College of Science, Mesabi Range College, Minnesota West, Minnesota State-Fergus Falls, and Dakota State.

Dakota State is NAIA, not NJCAA. A guy who played football there was in our group at the Rose Bowl. He told a few people that he played for the Trojans in the early 80s, which he did.  /csb

I'm not sure how much contact he even made but it looked like the step right before he threw his hand out was the one where the kicker tore it.

One of the interviews with a USC guy referred to it as a noncontact injury. I think he was trying to juke a Texas blocker before going into heat-seeking missile mode.

LHN airing the game Tuesday at 4pm and 9pm.

I wonder how many times they’ll skip ahead to further action?  Probably just enough to piss off those of us who like to watch defensive domination.

Just curious, I was in a bar watching the Texas game with the sound down.  That uncalled safety in the first half which sure as hell looked like a safety to me could have been a huge turning point in the game.  Since I couldn't hear what was being discussed, what was the reasoning for not calling it a safety?  Does the same rule apply in reverse to a safety ball crossing the appropriate "front" of the line that a TD does?  I'm not clear on that ruling.

It cost USC two points, but they stopped Texas and got the ball back at mid-field, which is probably better than they would have gotten if we punted from the 20 after the safety. I don’t think it was that huge of a turning point.

USC got away with the most blatant hold of the game on their first TD, and the log pass inside the 5 that set up their 2nd TD wasn’t a catch. USC rushed to the LOS to run off another play to prevent the replay official from stopping action for a review.

  6. Did anyone bitching about the non-safety mention the blatant hold on their first TD or the trapped ball on the long reception that lead to their 2nd TD?

Sorry for sounding like a sore winner.  It's just that the only USC fan I know is my daughter's college soccer coach.  A few of her teammates watched the game on a road trip, and she said she really had to bite her tongue.  He's not a USC grad though, just an LA guy.

  7. The thing I disliked the most is that the "expert" seemed to downplay the hit on Sam, saying that the defender didn't lower his head (he did) and that the top of the helmet didn't connect with Sam's jawline (it did).  But, when the Texas player does it on a ball carrier running right at him (as opposed to the QB throwing a pass), it's "textbook" targeting.  Fuck that California rationalizing expert.  His attitude regarding the hit on Sam was that it had to be called targeting, but only because that's the way the rule was written.

A whole lot of kids committed before the season and  a whole lot of kids committed after a loss. This season will not make or break this recruiting class. 85% of the class will have made their decision before a third of the season is complete. This season is more for the upcoming years.

A whole lot of kids committed after the Maryland game?

    Must’ve been silent commits.

Whenever someone brings up VY's knee being down, it's like - you realize it still would have been first and goal, right?  I'd like our chances to still get 6 there.

And after we score, we don’t rush and miss the extra point, AND a minute or more is run off the clock meaning USC doesn’t get their FG just before halftime.

Those refs should have been fired, along with Frank Anderson.

The most significant non-call I could remember came on Georgia's game-winning touchdown run in the closing minutes of the '84 Cotton Bowl.  From my vantage point in the north endzone I always thought Mark Lang was held or dragged down by the right tackle as he zeroed in on the Georgia quarterback. 20+ years later I eventually watched the replay and it's debatable whether he was held or whether he would have even been in a position to make the tackle; however in my mind's eye, all these years, it cost us a national title.

You’re damn right Lang was held. The OL dove straight at his ankles, presumably to cut block. Lang fell almost backwards because he was essentially tackled at the ankles. Of course, the QB was his man on the option.

  12. Perhaps I was being too subtle.

I wasn't thinking of this at the time, but there was a riot in Florida back in the 90s (80s?) when a "white cop" killed a black guy.  After the media found out he was of Cuban decent, the story stopped being front page.  I think his name was Spanish, but I think the press read the rioters signs before they read the police reports.

    Not this dumb shit again.

White Hispanic is a thing. Black Hispanic is a thing. The fact you don't know this just means you're not an American Hispanic. According to the United States government, white and black are races and Hispanic is an ethnicity. Every time you fill out a government form, if you're Hispanic you select that as your ethnicity AND ALSO white or black as your race. Although I suppose you could be an Asian Hispanic.

George Zimmerman is a white Hispanic. I am a white Hispanic. Marco Rubio is a white Hispanic.

David Ortiz is a black Hispanic. Pedro Martínez is a black Hispanic. Sammy Sosa was a black Hispanic.

This isn't difficult and was not made up by the media.

Lighten up, Francois.  I am well aware of the difference between race and ethnicity.   I was taking a jab at the media who (as in the Travon Martin case) wish to portray something as racially motivated, only to find out that the "white" guy isn't what they thought he was.

When you jizz in a mouth and they start to gag and it comes out their nose? Is that when they bloviate?

For the giver to change hands or direction of twist while giving a BJ and it makes the dude blow(viate)?
