  1. Falling further down the Loyalty Points ranking is inevitable unless you really open your pocketbooks for the categories other than Annual Fund Seat-related Gifts. Using the Priority Points Calculator, I could donate $1,000 each to the Longhorn Excellence, Endowment Gifts, and Capital Projects Gifts ($3,000 total if my maths is right) to earn the 150 points necessary to regain the approximate ranking I had last year. UT Loyalty Points punishes the truly loyal, longtime fans in favor of newer donors. I said 25 years ago that UT should have started indexing the annual contributions like aggy does (or was doing in the 90s) because Bellmont would eventually tire of giving people the same seats for the same old donation. I have at one family member who has donated $5,000/year for 30+ years. If I donated $2,000 plus the $3,000 in my example above, I would pass them up in Loyalty Points while my cumulative giving would be way less. This has not gone unnoticed, and this family member vows to write UT out of their will. Even if they don’t, they won’t leave as much and won’t be playing the Loyalty Points game. I know I won’t be playing. If I ever fall below the level necessary to get CFBP tickets or Texas-OU seats in the shade, I’ll probably just scalp tickets. I won’t give up my season ticket seats, though. That would be letting The Man win.
  2. No way the neighbor nerf kid lives to see 20.
  3. Chuck Bednarik had fewer drops than Zay.
  4. Was hoping for something that needed a warning.
  5. There was a linebacker, Chris Duliban, drafted by the Cowboys in ‘86. Started his senior season at Texas. He was on the Cowboys roster for a couple of years, most of the time on IR.
  6. Love Bijan, but for the price of his branded mustard, it should not be watered down. Every time I use it, I have to remind myself to not squeeze too hard. Not Bijan’s fault, just me bitching.
  7. Too bad. We lived about a mile from there in the 70s. There was nothing trendy in that part of town. My old neighborhood was pretty decent when Pecan Valley CC was nice. But as the growth and wealth shifted further and further north, PV went downhill, as did our old neighborhood. We had a membership, and my hs golf team practiced there. I never fully appreciated how lucky I was to play there almost every day as a kid.
  8. Yes, just little bit north of downtown, but probably before the Mill Race Road cutoff to Brackenridge Golf Course. The statue was on the west side of the street, mounted either on top of the building or on a platform attached to the side. There was an Earl Scheib Paint & Body* on the east side, but that probably closed around the same time. The Superior building was nothing special 45 years ago, so I’m sure it was torn down. All I remember is the view was looking up at the statue as you drove past. The dick view was as you drove north. My mom was not nearly as amused as her kids. * Who could forget? It was only $49.95 in when I got my first car in 1977. Thanks, Jimmy.
  9. If it’s what I meant by GGFx12, it means great-grandfather with 12 greats. It is probably 9 or 10, but accuracy is not the point. If it’s what I meant by 18th century Indian men sucking a dead relative’s dick, I can’t offer a better explanation. I’m pretty sure Mrs. Schabusiness is at least half NA. Did you read the article?
  10. I had a GGFx12 who was decapitated my an Indian, too. Didn’t have his dick sucked afterwards, however, as they were males and times were different.
  11. Should’ve been named the Missouri River all the way to New Orleans. Still pisses me off.
  12. I met a guy around 1980 (through a mutual friend, so I don’t recall his name) who claimed to be one of the archers. He was a Marshall HS grad. Superior had recently moved to NW Loop 410. Perhaps they are one and same.
  13. Pig Stand was never the greatest, but my friends and I ate there more times than I could count, especially breakfast. That was the late 70s, back when the Superior Pontiac Indian* down the street had his dick hanging out. I haven’t eaten there since the 80s, but dammit I might’ve gone back someday. Pig Stand invented car hops and onion rings as well (as the concept of a common architectural design from restaurant to restaurant). * Note: The angle was better driving up Broadway when Superior Pontiac was close to downtown.
  14. For those familiar with the Palacio Del Rio area of DTSA, I’d like to know if someone can help us locate a particular place. My wife’s GGFx2 (or 3) ran a saloon in the area in the 1870s through the 1890s. This old ad says it was on Market St (doesn’t say East or West). This article (bottom of page) on his death, says the saloon was on Alamo St. Satellite maps don’t provide any clues. My wife found this photo on a genealogy site claiming this is the current establishment at the location (looks like a restaurant). My wife wants to go there next time we are in SA, but finding it could be a nightmare without research. In the name of Gustav Bergmann, please help us.
  15. She should be sitting on a sofa.
  16. Of course. The bull knows no shame.
  17. This is slightly off target, but I could use recommendations on a good chronograph. I hesitate to buy shit off Amazon because there is so much Chinese crap with fake reviews. I’m hoping to find something USA or European made, but if it has to be made in China, I at least want a reputable brand that designed it. I can afford more than I want to spend, but I’m old enough to be in the buy once, cry once club. Like much of what I buy these days, this will be my last.
