Texas A&M Football 2025 - On the Edge of Glory(holes)
bizzle replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
hey guys, been a busy fall with too much travel but wanted to give a quick season update prior to friday. ctj was kind enough to take over my usual roster notes this year, so thought i would just fill in some gaps since these were put together: reed did not get hurt and is currently anywhere from 5th to 8th in heisman betting odds owens has quietly gotten better, although still doesn't break nearly enough tackles. jamarion morrow is coming on, we really need moss back for friday craver, concepcion and ashton bethel roman have combined for 117 catches, 2,052 yards and 18 tds at 17.5 ypc. noah thomas has 16 catches for 254 yards, but did have 50% of his season touchdowns against texas. weirdly, "boerkircher" also stands for "south bend game winning catch" and "fucking great inline blocker". the guys that wrote niblack his NIL check have been attempting to stop payment for a few months now. the a&m ol is a semifinalist for the joe moore award collin klein was never demoted from playcalling at kansas state and a&m currently has the #10 scoring offense in the country. he's also a wild fucking ride in the redzone. the dline is 2nd in the country in sacks and total defense is 16th overall. york has his limitations but has been very solid this year. sanford has been a revelation as long as he doesn't choose the wrong gap, which he will a few times a game. you can see the trend where players get better with more experience as dezz ricks has slowly become one of the better corners in the sec over the course of the year. will lee is solid, missing a gear from being elite. glad anderson didn't die on the field at notre dame, dalton brooks is a missle in the box at safety, this group can be had over the top. these mostly all came true! thank you. two things can be true: elko and klein and staff have coached their ass off, they've got a really good group of kids in this day and age that have bought in, and our schedule could not have broken more favorably in a 1,000 ncaa simulations. texas will challenge us in the front 4 defensively and both on the perimeter and down the field offensively in a way no one else has been able to, i am expecting a relatively highly scoring game and it probably comes down to arch doing stupid shit or marcel being inaccurate at the wrong time. despite my great joy in writing the above, i can't wait to be in the building friday and look forward to fighting all of you. gig em. -
i think if one thing has been established, it's ctj's ability to identify roster talent. and a decade after kenny hill laid waste to south carolina, we drank all the bourbon that charleston had to offer and i proclaimed jake spavital a plug and play genius . . i am simply going to say i think collin klein is very good at his job and mike elko needs to figure out what the fuck is going on in our back 7. that being said, literally nothing could go wrong from here on out for the ags.

slightly belated, but got to attend both shows at metlife over labor day weekend. will echo every single other review that it was two of the greatest nights of my life - band sounded incredible, crowd was incredible, the city randomly buzzing with people walking around with all manner of oasis gear was incredible. cannot stress enough if you are a fan of any consequence, get to this thing should they continue touring in 2026. or better yet get to argentina or brazil in november as those are going to be epic.
-
son of a bitch i forgot i did that. apparently drank 13 paper planes at bad harriet, asked chat gpt the proposed line if one team's roster was talented enough to have 5 out of 44 make the two deep, and passed out. i stand by my research.

this suggests around a 40 point line. i'm sure vegas has done the work you have, and will absolutely agree.

honestly, for someone that struggles to keep up with the minutia of college football these days - incredible breakdown of the 2024 roster and season, i remain a fucking savant. and if there is any hope to be found in our fandom, it appears that despite the 2022 recruiting class implosion and subsequent buyout that people are still writing checks, which is quite obviously a necessity in the current landscape of the sport, and there is hope that elko has the ability to be a wiser ceo than his predecessor. he's clearly targeting a quite different type of kid than jimbo was, we'll see if any of this works out. the irony in elko being an intelligent, defense-minded guy is that he absolutely shit himself repeatedly with his in-game decision making the 2nd half of last year - was he trying to overcompensate for various roster failings year one, felt the need to be more aggressive than who he really is, felt the pressure in the texas game, etc, or is this who he is as head coach? no idea - i'm too tired to spend much time on it outside of watching the games, but i am quite fascinated to watch us play this year.

i miss that project so much. stuck heading to colorado for a few weeks like a normal texan this summer. but the clear point here is, as usual, we are so very fucking back.

Texas A&M Recruiting 2025: The Land of Melk & No Money
bizzle replied to texifornia's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
his position group regressed while in college station, he kind of sucked at recruiting and strikes me as annoying as shit. he also might be the random guy that's better coordinating a defense than teaching a position group. also who cares, life is suffering. -
missed it by a day or 3 but mushmouth giving christmas presents such as a stick with a ladybug on it while screaming into the mic and annoying the shit out of jub will always make me extremely happy.

i'm sure there's a more exhaustive post mortem to be done, but i'm really not all that mad at klein - he made some boneheaded decisions at certain points of the game and season, but so does every oc on earth. he was dealing with a chickenshit sandwich that got really bad once it was clear weigman's shouder / arm / brain was permanently broken and then without moss he just had very few buttons in which to push. way more concerned with elko and what was supposed to be a guy that would instill physicality, sound play, etc - that defense down the stretch was a fucking joke, not filling gaps, not tackling, not doing much of anything. his poor in-game decisions basically cost us the auburn game and any chance we had to steal some late game drama on saturday. i still think the floor with him remains relatively high, but my theory will be pretty quickly tested this offseason. thankfully the eagle rare 17 delivered.- 2541 replies

i regret that life has taken me away from getting to talk my shit on here this week, but please think of me and my eagle rare 17 slamming against the wall as our depleted secondary finally breaks and texas goes up two touchdowns late in the 4th quarter. i hate you all, and am so fucking glad this game is back. merry thanksgiving weekend.- 2541 replies

to my deep sadness, frustration and hatred of all things dj durkin . . . auburn is not ass. they are a pretty decent middle of the road football team that has been absolutely cursed by some of the most horrific qb play i have ever seen at the exact wrong time. if you look at their metrics and rankings it's almost impossible that they are currently 4-6, except for the fact that god (correctly) hates hugh freeze with a passion. this will be an absolute rock fight of a game between two pretty talented and also flawed teams. literally nothing could go wrong.- 2541 replies

i regret not posting my literally nothing can go wrong screed on here last week as i was extremely confident going into that game, and even halftime, only to see us get absolutely run the fuck over by a team that appeared to want it way more than we did. columbia is an absolute shithole, but that stadium is fun as hell and we obviously were, ah, not quite ready for the moment. we gotta regroup, survive hugh freeze wizardry and then prepare for what will surely be a game on the 30th that both fanbases have very level heads about. -

for those that care deeply - most of you - this has been an interesting month as the things i hoped for most under elko: some discipline, the raising of the collective floor, guys improving over the course of the season, adam cushing being a golden god, etc., have all largely taken place. we're not world beaters, but the team is playing well, the higher-end talent is being put in position to succeed and by and large guys are playing really fucking hard. unfortunately lsu is just a shit matchup against a secondary that still is struggling. the lack of tyreek chappel is going to hurt as there's just not another nickel on the roster, bryce anderson has to be hurt for as terrible as he has been playing and the rest of the guys are either just not good enough or not quite ready. defensive line will have to play out of its mind against a great lsu front and hope nussmeier makes a mistake or two. i think we'll manufacture 24-27 points but not sure that will be enough. should be entertaining.- 2541 replies

kirby has said this is his thinnest team depth-wise since being there. makes you wonder are they really ready for the game. -
got tix to both nyc nights. let's fucking go.

because i got in a random conversation about the ability to program the all-time station lineup: 5:30-10: jub, doocy, gordo (i mean, it's probably craig, he just annoys the shit out of me but perhaps that's part of the show's greatness) 10-12: bob playing the role of norm with donny and sirois shooting his wheels off 12-3: hang zone 3-7: hardline with mike, circa 1997 greggo and corby (also open to jake playing the role of greggo here) i don't give a shit about tickers, saturdays can be sirois and danny from 10-noon, ben and skin from noon-2, and kickaround from 2-4. weekenders and monty can fill in on dry dock, mino and sean bass are simply never allowed to speak over the air.
