Trump’s America
It’s embarrassing to be an American these days. Our president elect speaks in broken English in his press conferences and on social media, threatening to take territories from our allies against their will. A couple of years ago the world watched in horror as Putin invaded Ukraine. We have helped Ukraine resist. We have also been waiting to see if China would be bold enough to forcefully take Taiwan. How exactly is the U.S. any different than Russia or China if we go down this path? We will tariff our enemies into submission and force Denmark to give up Greenland? Force Canada to become a state? I suppose there will be less bloodshed but our soon to be leader is still talking very openly about a hostile takeover of allied territories. This bullshit about America First is no different than Russia First or PRC First. We are becoming our enemies. The problem is that when you look around the world, it’s hard to know who the good guys are anymore. If WW3 happens, who will be the voice of reason?

Silo (Apple TV+) - Premiers May 5th
Reminds me of season 2 of LOST when it didn’t seem like they knew what to do with the plot.

Fuck you, Arizona State
I assume these national officiating standards would penalize a team for a lineman picking up a running back and pulling him into the endzone?

Boeing 737 crashes with 180 on board in South Korea
If it turns out that a series of avoidable human errors happened, that’s a much harder reality to accept than the explanation that a freak bird strike or equipment failure occurred. Just the idea that maybe 179 people didn’t have to die on this one. I would also assume most of us would like to believe the pilots are trained well enough and the plane is engineered in such a way to prevent a worst case scenario of poor decision making under pressure, resulting in catastrophic death. I wonder if there’s any possibility of foul play. When the scarce surface level details don’t seem to make sense, perhaps there was a nefarious actor involved. Hopefully not, but I guess time will tell.

Silo (Apple TV+) - Premiers May 5th
That stinks because the show was super realistic up until that point.

Surly: Assad is awful. Balcones: I refuse to admit Assad is awful or acknowledge any of the heinous things he has been accused of until all of the Hitler supporters admit Hitler was also bad. Surly: …- Netflix Recommendations
We watched Nobody Wants This for a change of pace from the usual serious dramas. I liked the first few episodes but liked it less and less by the end. The “loser siblings” were far better than the main couple. Most rom-coms feature two people who likely belong together but have certain overcome-able differences that initially stand in the way. This story has two characters who clearly don’t belong together and don’t even have good chemistry, yet I’m supposed to root for them to beat the odds. Just split up already.- Ted Lasso (Apple+)
Agreed. For all the hate it received, it’s a great standalone episode and has become yearly viewing for us.- Silo (Apple TV+) - Premiers May 5th
Episodes without Juliette are not great. Aside from Rebecca Ferguson being the best actor and a beautiful woman, Juliette’s situation is the most interesting and they need to move that plot forward every single week. That’s what will most likely reveal answers to some of the biggest mysteries. The rest of the show with the mayor and judicial and IT and the sheriff and mechanical is boring by comparison. It can’t stand on its own. It’s like a Christmas dinner with only mediocre sides. It’s like a LOST episode that focused on Michelle Rodriguez. No one wants it.- Tulum, Mexico
I’m considering a trip down in February. I like Tulum quite a bit for a short weekend getaway to escape the Texas winters. It’s great for that kind of thing and beats the hell out of a mega resort in Cancun or Cabo.- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
When you have 12 kids, you can lose a couple to cancer and nobody gives a shit. Especially if one of them has a serial number in place of a name.- Texas -- a failed state
Maybe we should chip in for a billboard that says “If you come to Texas, an oak tree might fall on you and then you will never walk again.”- Fort Worth is exploding
La La Land will print money, but I am a little surprised at their location choice.- ROFL BOX could use your prayers
We could chip in to get him a service dog. It would be cheaper.- Fort Worth is exploding
Terry Blacks appeared to be hopping tonight. Maybe a soft open? The building looks cool and I look forward to going.- Meta World Least
I’m conflicted. We do need to be investing in nuclear energy, but it also seems like the Trump administration will not be the best time to launch these plans.- I Don't Really Watch or Like TV or Movies Anymore
I like to watch about 1 hour of TV each night, usually a drama but occasional comedy, and there are tons of good options for that. I maintain Apple+, Netflix, HBO, and Amazon subscriptions, and I randomly activate Hulu or Paramount long enough to binge a specific show. Movies have been in a slump for a while but I’ve still enjoyed some of the 2024 new releases- Dune pt II, Civil War, Hit Man, Fall Guy, Challengers, The Substance, A Quiet Place Day 1, Furiosa. I’d still like to see Gladiator 2 and Anora, so that’s a decent list but not enough to supply me with a new good movie every weekend- White Lotus - HBO
This is the correct opinion.
