  1. I suppose this gets me into the club? Baby girl, born 12/21/22 at 6:25 am, 7 lb 0 oz. We were in the hospital for 34 hours waiting. Wife was having steady contractions that entire time but luckily not too painful and she was her usual upbeat happy self. Had some issues towards the end that looked like we might be headed towards a C-section, things improved at the right time and proceeded with vaginal delivery, but man that part got rough. The doctor let me help deliver and catch her coming out, what an incredible experience. Wife had complications immediately after but they stabilized her and she is doing better. Still having a lot of pain 2 days later, but gradually improving and the acute concerns are behind us. Baby is doing awesome. She is completely healthy, all checkups have been great, going home today. The doctors, nurses, and hospital staff have been amazing. I’m a doctor and these people inspire me to be better at my own job. The L&D nurses in particular are saints. We got married young, now married 17 years, neither of us ever had the parenting itch until about 2 years ago when that switch flipped for both of us. What a whirlwind this has been but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Life is great today.
  2. Lol I actually took 408D twice because I was a fucking moron who thought 408C was pretty easy and it would probably be ok to skip class in 408D to play StarCraft or NCAA football, then just show up for the tests. Not recommended.
  3. I’m definitely on the side that thinks he should and will be fired, unless by some small chance there is video or audio that completely exonerates him. I personally doubt that will be the case, but time will tell. I think if that level of evidence existed in his favor, there would be some mention of that from his attorney by now, just to try to sway public opinion towards giving him the benefit of a doubt. My memory is a little fuzzy on the early days of the Trevor Bauer fiasco, but I thought there was some of that talk pretty early on. Despite all of that, I don’t think The University has to be in a rush to fire him. They quickly placed him on administrative leave without pay, which seems like an acceptable response even for people who don’t like UT. No one in the media is criticizing Texas as far as I’ve seen. If anything, it’s more sympathy towards Texas and criticism of Beard, so the two parties have been adequately separated. We aren’t hiring a new coach right now, so we have time. I don’t think the silence from The University is an indication of anything at this point.
  4. Why has the tone in this thread seemingly shifted in Beard’s favor? It appears many of you are running with the idea that she is crazy, therefore, whatever Beard did was justified or necessary. Has new info been released that I missed, or is everyone passing their time by creating hypothetical scenarios that have a basketball happy ending? Some of you guys are speaking about it as if you believe it to be true, which based on the facts we currently have, comes across a little bit like Baylor fans defending Briles. Maybe this does eventually turn out some way in which Beard looks less guilty than he did in the beginning, but we have a long way to go and and it’s a bit unsettling to see people making excuses for him at this stage.
  5. Outstanding season. Well done ladies!
  6. The post I responded to and quoted said: That was the entire reason I posted. If not for that, then I would agree that most posters here have been pretty hard on Yellowstone lately. Except Macklemore who occasionally shows up to say how amazing it is. Also, streaming TV has been considered regular TV for about 10 years now. No one cares about the 54 garbage shows that come on ABC. They are so bad they aren’t worth having a thread and arguing about.
  7. Albie probably thinks they gave each other their V-cards.
  8. I would argue that it’s an outright bad show. Not mediocre, but bad. Just terrible writing in seasons 3-4. Bad enough that I quit watching after 4 seasons, which puts it in the same category as Dexter, Handmaid’s Tale, and The Walking Dead. No, it is not some of the best TV on right now. Good scenery cannot elevate it above its many flaws. Better current TV shows off the top of my head would include The White Lotus, The Boys, Ted Lasso, The Crown, Severance, Euphoria, For All Mankind, Sex Education, Industry, Perry Mason, Winning Time, House of the Dragon, and Succession. And if we want to include limited series, I would add Station Eleven, Tokyo Vice, and The Offer.
  9. What a gut punch. I saw yesterday he was in the hospital, then found out this morning that he had died. Just a terrible unexpected tragedy and we lost one of the best personalities to ever be associated with college football. He will be deeply missed. RIP Coach Leach.
  10. With our current technologies, it seems our clean energy sources in order of potential capacity are nuclear (fission), wind, solar, hydro. Unfortunately, the world can’t figure out what to do with nuclear because too many people have been scared into thinking it’s unsafe or bad for the environment. And the other sources are inadequate to completely replace fossil fuels. So we need to either change the minds of policy makers regarding nuclear and rapidly scale that up, or innovate new technologies that don’t currently exist. And yeah, keep developing solar and wind, but we can’t keep our heads in the sand and think those things will be enough.
  11. I finished with 3:54 so met my sub-4:00 goal. Overall happy with that result but a tiny bit frustrated that I was on pace for a better finish and I struggled heavily in the last 5-6 miles. Here is my pace breakdown: There was a big elevation gain mile 20-22 so that took its toll on me and then I was just gassed afterward. In my previous marathon in February, I had a knee problem around mile 20 and similarly struggled down the home stretch, but I guess because my knee was bothering me, that pain superseded any feeling of hitting the wall from a physical exhaustion standpoint. I felt like my training was reasonably good. Long runs were 13, 15, 17, 19, 11, 20, 13, and 11 miles in the 2 months leading up to the race. I wonder if I should work towards a 22-23 mile run at the peak of training? Most training plans seem to stop at about 20 miles. I wonder a little bit about my nutrition and hydration. I eat whole grain pasta the night before, then a banana and a bagel with peanut butter the morning of, then I eat GU gels and drink Propel/Gatorade during the race. I think I had 5 gels yesterday, about mile 5, 10, 14, 20, 23. The 2nd/3rd ones didn’t go down super smooth so I got nervous about having more, but perhaps I should’ve forced them anyways. Normally I tolerate them just fine. Open to any suggestions. I’ll probably give it another shot sometime next year and try to get 3:45.
  12. I lean towards the interpretation that Portia was supposed to get whacked and Jack couldn’t bring himself to do it. She would be too much of a loose end to simply let her go.
  13. There were major alarm bells going off for her all morning - missing phone, finding out Tanya had already left, Jack’s strange behavior, etc. Once her phone call with Tanya was abruptly ended by Jack snatching the phone back, she should’ve been running towards a crowded area and looking for a police officer.
  14. Love that Mia and Lucia got out clean. Hilarious that Valentina fired Giuseppe in favor of Mia. Truly undefeated. I suppose Greg walks away a big winner because he doesn’t even have to pay off Quentin, unless there’s an investigation and Portia takes him down.
  15. Loved the finale and the scene leading up to Tanya’s demise. Wife: “I wish they would’ve shown her neck breaking better.”
  16. I was mostly being cheeky as a result of my own red wine and popcorn tasting menu.
  17. Saw it tonight and enjoyed it. Lol at serving red wine with the chicken.
  18. Anyone else doing the Dallas marathon this weekend? It will be my 3rd marathon and I’m aiming for under 4 hours which would make it my best.
  19. I think her usefulness is about used up, so hoping she doesn't come back. They would need to create a new story for her and after a while that just gets old.
  20. Posters in the Yellowstone thread: This show sucks, the writing sucks, what a stupid plot, makes no sense, I hate that I watch it but not enough to stop, Beth is a bitch but I’ve been watching this shitty show for 5 seasons because occasionally I get a shot of her cleavage and I’m extremely thirsty and desperate, ugh how many more seasons will Taylor Sheridan force me to suffer? Posters in The White Lotus thread: This show is amazing, keeps getting better, can’t wait to see what happens but I’m sad that the finale is coming up, Lucia and Mia are both hot and we’ve seen them both topless and can’t decide which is better, maybe Valentina or Daphne will also strip down, wonder who dies, can’t wait for season 3.
  21. Agree with most others that this was my least favorite season. Not terrible, just not great. I liked the historical tie-ins of the early seasons, and now that is fading away and being replaced by tabloid marital disputes. Perhaps that mirrors real life, and perhaps that symbolizes the status of the Royal Family in the modern world. Most of my knowledge of the RF comes from The Crown and from googling shit after watching these episodes, so I could be completely misguided in my thinking, but my criticisms of season 5 are this: 1. It seems they softened Charles up, starting with the casting of Dominic West, as if to portray him as a man who screwed up a little bit but is mostly misunderstood and overall still a decent guy and worthy of our respect. 2. It seems they similarly downplayed Diana’s strong points - her glamour, social charms, and humanitarian work. She’s portrayed as a combination of depressed, awkward, confused, vindictive, and reclusive. Is that accurate? 3. Queen Elizabeth is basically a grandma who sits on her couch and struggles with the TV, or worries about her yacht, but does very little of importance. Regarding the first 2 points, I wonder if the RF has finally influenced the production of this show to make Charles appear less vile than he actually is. And finally, I thought for sure this would end with Diana’s death or at least let the final scene be her getting into the car. Seems better to end a season with that tragedy than to start a new season with it.
  22. Good season and I liked all of the final 3 teams. Slightly wanted the twin sisters to win because I think they have the best story, but kudos to Derek and Claire. I do miss the old Amazing Race pre-Covid, back when teams would have to book their own travel and gamble on tight connections, and when double U-turns would shake up the power rankings and create sketchy alliances and bitter rivals. Now it’s just happy-go-lucky help each other until the end, and teams teleport from one city to the next off screen. Too clean and boring. I suspect this format is here to stay.
  23. I assumed it was a budget piece of furniture. I know one person who has one and I’ve sat on it enough times. Never thought of it as being overly comfortable or stylish, just kinda meh, something good for a college apartment. Had no idea people were spending $5k+ on them until seeing this thread.
  24. Annoyed me too, but then I started thinking, it probably hurts like hell and it's in the forefront of her mind and it's hard not to comment on it. Even if she only mentions it once every couple of hours, the editors can take each of those comments and put them in the episode so that we hear it condensed into one hour. Makes it sound like she is whining non-stop when that may not truly be the case.
  25. I agree that Harper believes that, but she’s mad at Ethan because he expresses no interest in her. Ethan flat out sucks. He’s terrible at communicating with Harper and everyone else. She told him she doesn’t think he’s attracted to her anymore and he did nothing to reassure her, only eventually giving out an obligatory “I love you” without the slightest bit of affection or intimacy. She’s begging for affection or reassurance and he doesn’t know how to give it. She’s beyond caring if he cheated on her or not. She’s decided that if he won’t fight for her, she’ll do her own thing and maybe stir up a little jealousy in the process to get back at him.
