  1. Smoking my first brisket of the year tonight. Starting the fire about 3am. To say I'm excited is an understatement.

    Shit my co-worker said

I now work in a pretty open concept space. The only thing between my "office" and the cubical farm is shade thing similar to those sun shade things you put on the rear windows of a car for the kiddos. I overheard one of my billing guys last week saying, "I have a really large bladder, which makes me pretty efficient"

    Shit My Kid Says

My first grader brought home his art work from school yesterday, and apparently I’ve got a Thujone in the making. I may have to get him to draw something for the Shootout this fall.
  4. Call his bluff, and if he follows through, you left your computer unlocked at the last happy hour and blame your friends from the internet
  5. Didn't know you could donate used balls to First Tee. Don't know why, just never occurred to me. In the summer, I get probably 15-20 in my yard per week. Most golfers that visit me leave with a bag of golf balls, I hit the bad ones into the lake, and still will never get through as many as I have.
  6. The last two years I hired a firm to do the protest for me, and they got it dropped a very minimal amount. Curious what you guys think regarding cost/value of hiring someone. I kind of wonder if the CAD tends to pay more attention to actual owners that show up, or is it worth it to hire a pro. Thoughts?
  7. They are called Brazi bites. Brazilian bread you can buy at Kroger, maybe HEB if they are open. Cheesy little bread balls, same shit they have in Brazilian steak houses. Buy some and thank me later
  8. I still have yet to make a good enough gumbo to post or serve to a large group because my coon ass aunt makes the best I’ve ever had, and I have had a lot. I can’t compare yet, BUT I can do an Easter shrimp boil. One small pot for the kids (and a few weakling adults) and a larger spicy pot for the real adults.
  9. Been a while since I’ve been here but we’ve got a Spurs Game 7 and the kids are going to bed early because they are exhausted, so steaks it is! Trimmed some fat from my wife’s but put it on top of mine to render in Asparagus and one of the best purchases I’ve ever made was a wire grill basket. Use that thing twice a week. My grilling paradise. Will be having a cigar here later watching the Spurs shut it down. Finished with some fancy ass Himalayan pink salt and resting. Get you some of this. GO SPURS GO! (Which I had to retake because I realized there were no guns present and the steak was already gone)
  10. I love my dog, but she will not get into the car willingly which makes it just about impossible for my wife to take her anywhere on her own. My kids on the other hand have me a bit concerned.
  11. Kids opened their Easter candy this weekend to find it all had melted. Turns out, my wife stopped to pick it up before going to run errands for a few hours. She thought it would be fine in the car since it was only in the 70s that day, and no, she did not crack a window.

    ATVs

Friend in my neighborhood had one of these I had a home made go-cart with a B&S engine similar to this one, but not nearly as nice. The seat was literally a stacking metal chair we cut the legs off of. There was a grass alleyway all the way around the outside of the neighborhood, and we would race around doing completely idiotic/dangerous shit all day or until both all of our dad's gas cans were empty. such great times
  13. What the hell is going on in Collin County? Improvement down 10%, Land up 107%! Blended up 9%. My BIL is in the same neighborhood, with same age of house and his Improvement went down 25%, Land up 2%, Blended down 20%
  14. Those umbrella bases are designed to hold an umbrella that is 7 or 8 feet tall. The flagpole will be more than twice that height literally holding a sail. Contractor buckets is probably your best bet if you don't want to put anything in the ground.
  15. No way the umbrella bases hold the flagpoles and sun sail up with any wind at all. Whatever you go with, I would plan on cementing into the ground. You could also use aluminum tubing in the electrical isle of home depot to save a little cash over the cost of the flagpole. The flagpole comes ready to install though, so it would be easier. I would also install the poles twice as wide as the sail, and attach the sail to the flagpole with a cable. That way, if you wanted to adjust horizontally, you can by shortening/lengthening the cables on either side of the sail as needed.
  16. I will be so pissed if I miss a Shotgun Shane show
  17. So who is the super secret band playing at Jub Jam? I'm betting it has to be Pat Green, but haven't heard anything official.
  18. Last year I scheduled my snip snip surgery for this weekend. I took a new job this past August, so I'm double dipping on the excuse. Its probably in their best interest. I would be completely worthless anyway. At least if I stay home, I'll be motivated to get stuff knocked out at night.

    Kayaking

Second that. I have a tandem Pelican that frankly I hate, but is the only option right now until my boy can paddle his own boat. He is still a few years away.
  20. It absolutely is reversible. It may require you to rotate the bracket itself 180* but it is most definitely reversible if you try hard enough.
  21. Damn that is all kinds of awesome
  22. $10 towards a wreath fund that you can flip it to face the other way with an allen wrench and/or screwdriver in about 2 minutes
  23. I for one enjoy going to the grocery store. I go every weekend, most times by myself, listen to music or a podcast and it takes about an hour, which is a nice break from shuttling two kids around to various games and birthday parties. I do the cooking on the weekends, wife will cook during the week, but during the week is simple stuff. I will cook more complicated meals on the weekends. Plus, my wife does not price shop very well. There could literally be a one pack and a two pack of the identical item right next to eachother for the same price, and my wife will get two of the one packs.
  24. holy shit. that is beautiful
  25. I've got some wool all birds, but don't use them to for running. They are comfortable as hell, but don't have good enough soles for running in my opinion. Can't speak to the tree kind though.
