  1. Don’t know where to put this, but I had dinner tonight with a friend of mine whose family business is a tree farm, and certified arborists need more annual education hours than CPAs evidently. In TX, CPAs need an average of 40 hours per year (although a lot of us do 20/20/80) but arborists need 60 per year.
  2. This was not the cordless version
  3. I’ve seen one of these before and read something about it in Popular Science but can’t for the life of me remember what it is or what made it special. Lil help?
  4. You don't want to see most women, but there is occasionally a cruise ship hot. I will see what I can get tomorrow
  5. I do snorkel, bring my own gear, but over a week it still gets boring. Unpopular opinions thread and all
  6. I love the ocean but can’t stand the beach. I am currently on 7 mile beach on Grand Cayman, having only to pay for food but am bored out of my mind. The FIL, my wife, and my wife’s sister and her family love nothing more than hanging out at the beach. I can sit my ass in the sand for about 5 minutes but after that I want to go fish, hike, snorkel, walk, go out on a boat, anything, but they literally want to do nothing but wake up, go sit on the beach, eat lunch in the room, back to the beach, then shower for dinner. I can only do about 2-3 hours on the shore a day max, then I have to do something, anything else. Here it is even harder because there aren’t even waves to play around in. This makes me the ungrateful asshole of the family because FIL paid for the trip, and this is something they all love to do. We did do a submarine tour yesterday which was really cool, but two of the nine in the group got seasick, which made me the asshole again for suggesting it. Luckily my 7 year old is a lot like me, complaining of boredom, so if this stupid trip continues next year, I will plan fishing, golf and a visit to the caves for whoever wants to come. Fuck the rest of them if they don’t want to, me and him will have a blast, even if I have to charter an entire boat for just the two of us. This is not my paradise, only where I eat lunch.
  7. Depends on how long you held them. The 1 year capital gains clock starts when the shares vest, and your tax basis is the closing price on the day they vested.
  8. I had a hard time with it at first, but they are a fashion shoe that you can clean with a hose. The wife will wear them out to dinner if it happened to rain 3 hours earlier. I would rather her wear those than something more expensive and leather or suede. Yes, I've had to justify it to myself, but you also sound poor
  9. Mine actually has worn hers quite a bit this year because of all the rain we’ve had, but absolutely refuses to walk off the pavement in them. The few times they have gotten a little mud on them, she asks me to clean them for her, which is then done with a hose. We took the kids and met some other friends at a pumpkin patch/tractor ride thing this fall after a heavy rain. I had to convince her that she needed to wear her rain boots because it would be muddy. She cannot comprehend that is their purpose. She did not appreciate me bringing my ULine yellow rain boots
  10. Probably late to the game but just figured out I can login to my Best Buy account and get the Black Friday deals now online, at least the one I wanted. Just ordered a ring pro with that ring chime thing and a free echo dot for $180. Will pick it up in store on my way home from work. No word yet on if I will be able to procure tit picks after installation
  11. I suck at remembering the types of cheeses I’ve had and loved, but just got back from Carmel where I spent some time in The Cheese Shop. Tried a bunch and walked out with a hunk of Smoked Gouda called Jeffs, and some Blue that was outstanding. Had a cheese board in the room before leaving for dinner... and then a late night snack

    Best Pocket Knife?

I could be wrong on my blade length. 3" was just from memory and what it looks like. That does appear to be the same knife, I think they just came out with the copper model. They've had the Natrix out for a while now.

    Best Pocket Knife?

Finally got this in after jumping on a pre-order about 8 months ago. I dig it. Love the blade shape and the size is a great EDC for me. 3” blade.
  14. Having a microwave upstairs and the excitement my kids get over warmed PJs this time of year
  15. Figuring out how to fix something around the house that you've never worked on before, and it only taking about 15 minutes and $10 in parts. Especially when calling in a professional would have been $100 minimum
  16. Just don't cut down any of the smart trees
  17. It had been a shit hole for years. Fun layout, but after the Bandit opened, its days were numbered. Seguin can’t support three courses. Can barely support two
  18. People that move into the fast lane, but aren't passing anyone
  19. Yeah, I knew it used to called Walnut Springs, but never knew about the German twist
  20. Wait, was this in question? Juan Seguin is all I've ever heard. Hell, we used to take field trips to his grave site
  21. fingers don't move, but I'm not opposed to cutting them...
  22. Damn, I’ve got a ways to go to get on Baboon’s or Ldogg’s level. Next step for sure though will be more lighting. Not even worth posting the porch, but here is the golf cart my son helped decorate tonight and the pumpkin that I think turned out pretty well. More was added around the pumpkin after this pic. The webbing looks really cool with the lights reflecting off of it. I just hope they don’t blow off as soon as I speed up. Also, that crouching werewolf Baboon has is the same one I’ve got.
  23. Just took my wife's QX80 in for a 60,000 mile service. The margins they must pull down in the service department because women and/or dumb fucks just say "go ahead and fix it all" must be astronomical. They wanted $165 to change the cabin filter, $80 for the air filter and $75 for the fucking wiper blades. The wiper blades are still fine, and I did both filters in 20 minutes for less than $50 in parts. If I can learn to do transmission, brake and transfer case fluid changes, I can damn near cut them out other than things I don't want to spend the money on tools for/can't do in my garage.

    Classic Car thread

That is nice, how much did they want for it? Go ahead and pick it up for me, and I'll pay you back
  25. Fuck I can see myself getting in deep on this. Especially since my wife doesn't like a ton of Christmas decorations other than basic white lights and maybe one inflatable thing for the kids. Saturday I picked up a 5' tall crouched over werewolf thing, two more skeletons and a door knocker thing that talks. I also ordered a strobe light that will be here today so that I don't have to have the porch lights on. Now it looks like I'm stopping by Spirit of Halloween on my way home for more maybe. Today after work, lil JSB will be helping me finish up decorating and doing the golf cart as well. After we're done, I'll post some pics or a video. It's a little hard to justify because we really don't get a ton of kids (they mostly stay on the other side of the neighborhood where there are more houses) but it is fun. This morning I was on the phone with my wife as she was pulling out of the drive way, and she screamed because she had forgotten about the werewolf on the porch
