  1. https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/homenews/house/5549384-johnson-house-closed-government-shutdown/amp/ House closed until shutdown ends... Already the least productive House in history, abdicating it's duties to the President illegally...begs the question..if this version of the House is closed, will anybody even notice?
  2. And the billions in deals for Trump Org from Qatar preceding this announcement?

  5. Oh neat, another strong, Democrat female is a bitch narrative...
  6. Mike Johnson hears of a military family struggling to live and afford life and medical necessities in the United States and instantly turns his response to "me" and "my". Damn, what a dick.
  7. I am walking through this for my own education because it seems like Johnson is trying to confuse multiple items. Johnson is specifically citing Emergency Medicaid use, which does not require legal citizenship paperwork, as a drain on resources. That use by undocumented immigrants represents less than 1% of Medicaid funds seemingly an indication it is not much of an impact. There have been no changes here, as federal law requires hospitals to treat emergency seeking patients. So, no real point of discussion when it comes to current negotiations. The other issue Johnson leaps into is the narrowing of eligibility for full Medicaid coverage for documented immigrants. The recent Republican bill narrowed eligibility essentially removing the more vulnerable immigrants like refugees, trafficking victims, etc. In reality, a heartless move but seemingly not a big financial impact from my point of view. Democrats do want to repeat this rollback but also not a large part of their negotiation, as their main focus are the credits which the caller does well to highlight. All this fair?
  8. And, before anybody gets in a huff about this article. The church's documented position has long been to respect a country's right to sovereignty. However, they have stated treating immigrants like criminals is against the teachings of Christ.
  9. You know, the easiest thing to clarify the state of immigration is pass meaningful reform. The Republicans denied a bipartisan attempt to reform immigration during the Biden era, a bill that Republicans of years past would have celebrated. There was a lot of bipartisan negotiation in that bill. For the second time during a Trump administration, the MAGA Republicans have control of the government to pass their own reform. Yet, we have nothing. There may be another bipartisan effort (Dignity Act, a repackaged version of the attempt during Biden's time). If Johnson decides the House should actually work for the people and get off vacation, we may see it get out of committee.
  10. I am curious if Democrats can reclaim time when the witness so blatantly refuses to respond to questions.
  11. Regarding Pancho's post...
  12. What was the Trump appointees "crime" according to the Trump admin? Maintaining State sovereignty over their voter rolls?
  13. Well, Trump admin did make a deal with the cartels. Guess it was to let their stuff through?
  14. I am not sure he is lying these days. I think the senile old man is being fed bullshit by his department heads and he actually believes it.
  15. Totally normal reaction to an American being named halftime musician of the Super Bowl.
  16. Introducing a new starting quarterback with no oline blocking and no running game is never a successful formula. This stands true across all levels of football, no matter who the quarterback is supposed to be.
  17. https://archive.is/mazrM The N.F.L. Gets It. Why Don’t Democrats?
  18. https://civileats.com/2024/09/18/jd-vance-invested-in-acretrader-heres-why-that-matters/ Oligarchs are ready to scoop up that distressed farm
  19. Agree. Of course, when the right wingers talk about the left, they are actually telling you who they are. He is really talking about far right wing groups and he is 100% correct.
  20. The online is terrible. You can't bring along a new QB with no running game and constant pressure.
  21. It's more than BU. It's a southern baptist problem.
  22. What? It's not perfectly normal to react to a halftime Super Bowl announcement, of an (latino) American performer, with threats of sending ICE to the Super Bowl?
