  1. Stop overthinking it. Your expanded list of qualifications and arbitrary line(8) is no more valid a selection criteria than his one qualification. As an example, this site regularly shits on the AP poll but I see a heavy influence of the AP cited here. Of course, if you followed football history, you know Penn State didn't get the bump Notre Dame got with media and polls as an independent. They would regularly talk up Notre Dame out of one side of their mouths while denigrating Penn State for being independent out of the other side. Penn State was independent until the 90s and had many an undefeated season without a chance at #1 poll ranking. Penn State has long been a recognized brand in modern college football with a lot of wins and multiple titles/undefeated seasons. They are the top program in a State that regularly produces great college and NFL football talent. They have lots of long standing traditions and a large, rabid fan base. You disagree, fine but don't pretend you or anybody else is an authority on an arbitrary classification.
  2. No, my pictures show his furthest forward progress. Sorrell was first to hit and knocked Skat sideways, shoulders parallel to sidelines, just after the 35. He continued to push forward another bit before Lefau stacked him up.
  3. That msn link is not even the original content. It is an incomplete repost of another site's blog post.
  4. fumble, 100%
  5. Dirty play by the ASU LB. He wasn't in on the tackle but falls on Helm, who is already down, and grabs his lower leg and twists as he rolls over the top of Helm. It actually was forceful enough to rotate Helm's body position 45 degrees. I am sure Helm was fearful of injury. No reason for it other than being dirty.
  6. seems valid regarding the first down call, but the official's spot was still off
  7. Seemed short to me (his elbow maybe got but probably hard to overturn. The more interesting issue to me is the umpire had the best visual while the sideline judge was completely blocked from the seeing the ball. As the umpire goes to mark the ball short, the sideline judge is definitely calling the chains to move as if it is a clear first down. Not even worth a measurement apparently. You can see he is marking the spot with his left foot and the ball was nowhere near that spot, 100%.
  8. The "holding" call against Texas on our punt return at 6:07 in the first quarter. Announcer notes the play was like a UFC BJJ takedown. You can see announcer called it correct as the ASU player goes for the headlock, hip throw and side control.
  9. Here is the "great" fake punt. Remember, the line of scrimmage is between the 20 and 21 yard line. Notice the blocking at the 24 and 25 yard line at the time of the throw.
  10. Conversion started on the 3. They give them a yard or so leeway. The ASU right tackle was fully in the end zone and blocking at one point just before the throw. He thought the QB was running. He pulled up a bit out of the end zone and stopped blocking when the QB took to the other side of the field. He was deserving of a lineman down field penalty, no doubt about it
  11. Ewers deficiencies are pretty loud but a lot of his strengths, highlighted here, aren't well understood or transparent. He quite often gets us in the right plays when the opportunity presents itself.
  12. Band putting in work to make it loud!! Let's go fans!!!
  13. The Rule: Specifically, NCAA Rule 9-3-2-b states: > The ball carrier shall not grasp a teammate; and no other teammate shall grasp, pull, or lift the ball carrier to assist in forward progress. > The Penalty: A violation of this rule results in a 5-yard penalty. https://www.sdcfoa.org/ncaa/rule-9-conduct-of-players-and-others-subject-to-the-rules/college-9-3-2
  14. I thought you couldn't pull offensive players to gain yards?
  15. I'm pretty sure he's playing concussed. Probably shouldn't be out there at all Okay, I see it now. Is ASU knowingly playing a concussed RB? He keeps shaking his head like his vision is blurring.
  16. 7 win Steve showing up again..
  17. No call on lineman down field. Literally standing near the targeted receiver. Easy call for refs but no flag.
  18. That's your Arizona St RT standing near the endzone(he was previously in the end zone), 3 yards downfield on a pass play. No flag to negate the defensive holding call on Texas.
  19. The ASU right tackle #58 was in the end zone on the throw. Literally right next to the targeted wide receiver. But, they didn't call the offsetting penality on Arizona State.
  20. Best back in the country but he can't play in the 4th quarter without taking himself out?
