  1. Is any part of the therapy process either curated or hand-crafted? I really have come to expect at least one of those in every experience. It's my new normal.
  2. Development for those helmet fans is rumored to have started immediately after their trip to the visiting the locker room in Austin last year.
  3. I thought he was thoroughly unlikable in QB1. Seemed like a bad teammate and a generally self absorbed asshat.
  4. You have been inspiration with this thing from the jump. I remember when you were just going to pull a trailer behind your F-150 thinking this would be awesome and it ended up being so much more incredible than I ever hoped. Hate that it ended like it did but as others have said maybe the replacement RV will be easier to find than you think. I'll bet you a dollar you are on the internet at night looking up RV's for sale within a week of that first night in your bed at home. Seriously thanks for letting us share this journey with you. Best of luck to you and your brood.
  5. Very sad story. As a side note, why in the heck would they take a kid all the way from Guthrie to Houston? Surely somewhere in DFW or even OKC could have serviced him more quickly with equal technology (at least in DFW). Doesn't really matter I guess but that's a strange detail.
  6. Unpopular opinions thread is over there...
  7. I'm mildly confused by this story but I'm so glad you shared and that the adventure now includes law enforcement and threats of retaliation in anticipation of possible self-induced vandalism by a fleabag motel owner. Good lord, I am so jealous.
  8. Ok, I get that Illinois and Minny have athletic dept debt but I'm shocked the Michigan and tOSU have so much debt related to their athletic departments. Is this some Steve Patterson level (we can't afford the training table for our athletes) BS or do they really not make their donors pony up for new facilities? Also, OU being seen as anything other than hayseed, inbred dirt burglars tells you that you are probably looking at the information you're analyzing incorrectly.
  9. Does anyone have a good recipe that approximates his cheesy squash casserole?
  10. Let's be honest what percent of teams really compete for something beyond a conference title? I'd say in any given year maybe 33% of teams are actually in contention for a conference title and maybe 15% really compete for a national title. I don't mean making the tournament, I mean really competing. All of those other athletes are using their years of eligibility for the chance to play knowing it will not lead to a championship of any kind. It does allow them to play a sport they either love or are good enough at that it affords them other opportunities (ideally both). I don't think that's a waste and in the current environment if a kid is in their last year I'd be shocked is they chose not to play just because the post season playoff was cancelled. Some might choose not to play to save their draft status or something but that really only impacts 1% or so, the decisions shouldn't be made based solely on how it affects the potential draft pick types.
  11. So you think that the inflection point of the COVID trend will be the advent of football season? (My sarcasm meter might be broken) Not, school opening or other changes coming in the Fall. Will be interesting to see how the infection rates play out in the 1-4A schools who start September 1st versus the 5A-6A schools starting a month later. Also what happens in high school football playing states versus states that have cancelled or deferred (California, Minnesota, Colorado). I think deferring is not a bad choice but will be curious to see the impact it actually has. So is whether someone eats in a restaurant or cooks at home, wears a neck gaiter mask vs. an N-95, has groceries delivered vs. shopping in the store or gets a haircut vs. letting it go. Now if you are a football coach I will grant that it is your business. If I misunderstood your point please re-state it.
  12. Having a son who is a Senior football player who will not play college football I am clearly biased toward having a football season. I don't care if it is this Fall or next Spring. I would like to see he and his teammates have the opportunity to have a last chance to do something they work hard toward all year long and truly love. Certainly there is more risk to practicing / playing than if we all remained locked down in our houses until there was a widely available vaccine. That can be said about almost every single thing in life. How we define both "more" and "risk" is open to significant debate. None of which will be fully defined for months (maybe years). If schools are going to be open (they are) then the teams should be able to play (following protocols) as long as they have enough people to voluntarily field a team. If someone decides that the definition of "more" or "risk" is too much for them they should choose not to play without being judged. If someone decides to play, while following protocols, good for them and they should have the opportunity to do so without being judged also. I'm not a "mah freedoms" guy by any means, I wear a mask every time I'm out of the house, made the decision to keep my offices closed (work from home) , avoid church and other public gatherings and encourage others to do the same. I know this is "real" but also recognize that we have a much better understanding of what this is (highly contagious, but not necessarily hardy, statistically more "dangerous" to well-defined groups, etc.) With that knowledge we can make more informed decisions now than we could 5 or 6 months ago. Some may choose to stay home, stay safe while others can choose to resume significant portions of life, while following protocols, judging that the risks involved are worth it. Both positions are ok and neither really has to be seen as a threat or inherently irresponsible.
  13. TBH I didn't read through the entire press releases from the B1G or Pac12 but I'm not sure what is compelling them to make their decision today versus waiting a week or two or even until September 10th or so. Was the MAC and Mtn West decision that much of a shock to their sensibilities? Are there significant outbreaks on their campuses now that Fall camps have opened? Were the networks pressuring them for a decision (highly unlikely)? It seems like they could have announced that there would be no fans in stadiums, so people wouldn't plan trips or could cancel those already planned, but allow for a final decision on the Fall season much closer to when games were going to be played and with the benefit of seeing what happened among their players and staff once practices and classes fully resumed. Might still be the ultimate decision but just seems too early to make it in my opinion.
  14. ok, I scrolled through a cross section of the Sturgis live cam and can say with all sincerity I don't think I saw a single person under the age of 40 or with less than 30% body fat. I think in my mind there should be lots of this ... but really it's nothing but this...
  15. Did y'all hit up cedar point in Sandusky? Why the rush through Wiscy / Minny? Seems like there would have been some good places (lakes, etc.) to have spent some time along the way.
  16. Donated. So sorry to hear this. Prayers said too.
  17. also, the "Live Lucky" hat is the perfect choice for the photo.
  18. All gas, no brakes.
  19. The reasoning is by switching sports around you run the risk of winter/spring sports losing two seasons which isn't fair to those kids or coaches. Yes, football is king, but the majority of coaches want to do the right things by the kids and not cause a mutiny on the coaching staffs. I know high school and lower level baseball and softball tournaments have been going on all summer without any significant incidents. Same for golf. No idea on summer track programs. I hear what you're saying regarding feeling bad that those sports lost a season last year but at that time everything was shut down (stay at home orders) regardless of whether it could be effectively socially distanced or not. It just makes more sense to move sports that can be socially distanced in an effective manner to play first and continue to delay contact sports. Clearly, I want there to be a football season but even if none of us had any concept of what specific time of year specific sports are "supposed" to be played and we were just shown clips of 15 minutes of each sport and asked to pick the best sports to be played during our current situation I think most everyone would pick baseball/softball, golf and track.
  20. I would think it would have to be something like what I kind of expect for the "conference games only" football model. Normally college teams play 12 regular season games but would only play 9 for the "2020" season. Then in 2021 do the same, maybe 10 games. So over the span of 2 seasons they have played 18 or 19 games instead of 24. High schools would go from normally playing 20 to 28 games in 2 seasons to playing 16-20. I'm thinking the time period would be Feb - May 2021 (9 games) and then Mid Sept - Dec 2021 (9 or 10 games). Not ideal but beats missing a complete season for those whose season / football career would be a complete wash if Fall 2020 gets canceled.
  21. Heading to Vail this weekend. It's been 15 or 20 years since I've been there. I read some of the overview posts upthread. Any other thoughts to share? Me, my wife, 18 YO son and 7 YO son. Planning to hike, bike and hopefully spend at least a day on a raft.
  22. Not sure if you were planning to post that in the college football thread because of the "draft" comment but the principle applies either way. The number of colleges / high schools with the kinds of players who would lay off an entire season to prepare for a draft / or to save themselves for college is pretty small and even at those schools it is 1 or 2 players per school at most. If the coach is that hung up on the whims of a player or two he better hope an unexpected injury never pops up.
  23. The thought is to move track / baseball (lend themselves to social distancing much more than football) to Fall when school starts, leave basketball where it is and move football / volleyball to late Feb - May window.
  24. Unfortunately that just seems to be the way things go as often as not. Looking back sometimes it's easier to understand / accept why the ship never seems to come in but it can be very frustrating in the middle of it. You, your wife and kids will look back at this time for the rest of your lives with fond and funny memories. If 6 months ago someone told you you would get to watch your wife drop the F-bomb on some drunk yankee bitch or that you would be buying a tent for the express purpose of having sex you'd have laughed and called them crazy. Dude, you are living peak Wulaw life right now whether you recognize it or not. Well worth 1500/month in the big scheme of things. I and most everyone else on this thread are living vicariously through you and pulling for you. All gas, no brakes!!
