  1. We've had ours plumbed in, wired up, and passed city inspections for about 3 weeks now, but it took until this past Friday to get CP to finally stop by for 5 minutes to install the 2nd meter. Generator guys are coming out today to go ahead and turn it on and test it.
  2. Latest update. The 2 out east are absolutely zero concern. The one in the Caribbean is worth keeping an eye on, but downgraded this morning to 30% chance of getting its shit together. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php
  3. We're gonna win the division by default by being the only team with more wins than losses.
  4. Finally found something new to watch after finishing Kaiju No. 8 (great first season), Solo Leveling, and the latest season of Demon Slayer. I'm currently a couple episodes into Hell's Paradise, which came out last year. Same production studio as Jujutsu Kaisen and the final season of AOT, which you can quickly tell from the quality and style of the animation. Extremely violent, intriguing dark fantasy plot...etc. 13 episodes in first season. 2nd season has apparently been ordered.
  5. Projected dewpoints at noon on Sunday. Temps in the mid 80's with dewpoints in the 50's is about as nice as it can get in early September.
  6. Yep. This is what I do. I always get a printed license when I renew at Academy each August, but also update my OA app each year to have on my phone in case I forget/misplace.
  7. Latest update. Nothing too much to worry about along the TX coast at the moment. That wave from last week is a disorganized mess currently dumping rain on Haiti and the DR. Whatever remains as it heads west looks to be heading towards the Bay of Campeche and continuing on into Mexico. The yellow spot is unlikely to organize and the one off the coast of Africa should stay wellnorth of the Caribbean. Likely a fish storm.
  8. Got in a successful hunt just outside of Sealy this morning. Birds were flying high and fast, but luckily there were a ton of them. Our group of 5 probably took damn near 200 shots, ended up with 49 birds in the truck and lost probably 8 or 9 that fell into the thick stuff. Not a bad way to start the work week after a 3 day weekend.
  9. Give up 13 hits and 6 walks, you're not very likely to win. Get some rest tomorrow and let's get back at 'em on Wednesday.
  10. Uh oh, just realized we're facing a guy with 6.43 ERA through 14 innings total this season. Doesn't bode well.
  11. Forecasts are pretty well locked in agreement with a moderate cool front pushing south late this week, ushering in much drier air. Dew points expected to drop into the 50's and morning temps on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday will likely touch mid 60's and daytime highs shouldn't make it out of the 80's. Quite rare to get a front this early in September. On average, usually doesn't arrive until ~9/20. Sometimes comes as late as 10/15. A front arriving prior to 9/10 only happens about 10% of the time or less.
  12. Forecast holding steady thus far. Still far enough out that I'm not buying in 100% yet, but next Saturday and Sunday looking good.
  13. Toyed with the idea of heading up to my lease today, but weather has been shitty. Not a lot of fun up there when it's raining off and on all day and the sandy roads turn to mush. Forecast for next weekend looks just about perfect, so penciling in a trip Saturday morning. One thing real nice about having a place only 2 hours away. Gonna go sit out on the watering hole in the evening and kill some beers (and hopefully a few dove) and then enjoy some cooler weather around the firepit. Get up that next morning and try to pick off one of the pigs that's been stopping by our new feeder every morning. Man I love this time of year.
  14. 2024, the Year of the Cardiac Astros. We have now 73 wins, and it feels like maybe 10 of them were easy.
  15. 10-day forecast is putting out some rather enticing teasers for the end of next week.
  16. TPWD press release yesterday says it was a banner year for the population.
  17. Actual inflation news. September 25 bps cut pretty much locked in at this point, IMO.
  18. Just a bit. Got super dark. Rained hard for about 10 minutes, then light rain for maybe 20 minutes after that. Streets are already dried up.
  19. Been quiet the last few weeks, but might be something brewing. Currently a 40% chance of organizing. Wouldn't reach the US until next Sunday or thereabouts.
  20. Looks like the world's about to end outside my office window. Was planning to grab lunch off campus today, but may reconsider if it starts storming as hard as it looks like it's getting ready to.
