  1. Looks like a total of 400 out of roughly 2000 PXD folks are getting let go by XOM.
  2. One thing really nice to see in the extended forecast is only a handful of days with highs in the 80's/lows in the 70's. Only real ugly spot in the 15-day is that it looks like it will be warm and muggy again Saturday-Monday after 2 damn near perfect days tomorrow and Friday. The stretch from 11/19-11/28 resembles what November should actually feel like.
  3. Projected dewpoints at 6 pm on Thursday.
  4. After tying many, many brands over the years, this is my current go-to store bought salsa. Clint's other options are all pretty bland, but this Roasted Serrano has the closest equivalent flavor I've found thus far to the salsa roja that gets served warm at little hole-in-the-wall Tex Mex joints.
  5. Haven't seen that far out, but GFS is showing our first true Canadian cold front (vs. the weak Pacific fronts we've been seeing) making its way to Texas a little over a week from now. Highs in the low 60's, lows in the high 40's on the forecast for 11/20-22.
  6. Nicest morning in a long while today. Took the dogs for a long walk as soon as the same came up. A little warmer and more humid tomorrow but then another short front rolling through tomorrow evening. Thursday and Friday look awesome. Highs in the mid 70's, lows in the low 50's.
  7. At least it's looking like we'll have some decent mornings this coming week. Should be in the low 60's in Houston, high 50's in Austin. Another weak, short-lived Pacific front supposed to pass through Texas over the course of Wednesday, which should make for some pleasant weather on Thursday and Friday. Will continue to be low to mid 80's in the afternoons, but not oppressively humid. Baby steps. Huh? KXAN right now.
  8. Same dude wandered out in the rain to two separate feeders between midnight and 1 am last night. Guessing the rut hasn't quite started yet. Doesn't this idiot know he won't get laid if he only comes out when the does are sleeping?
  9. Another strong dose of humidity today. Good news is that a weak front is heading this direction. Should reach Austin area late tonight and start dropping humidity levels throughout the day tomorrow. Will take longer to reach the coast, as the Houston area will likely remain muggy until Sunday evening. Conditions look to improve next week, with humidity backing off and morning/evening lows dropping down to seasonal levels.
  10. Next week might actually be pleasant. Current forecast for Houston. Lower humidity to start the week will produce some overnight cooling and finally allow us to drop into the low 60's in the mornings and evenings. Dewpoints in the 30's on Thursday and Friday.
  11. This article makes it sound like OF is basically set to start the season. Tucker RF, Jake CF, Chas LF when Yordan is DH. Might pick up a cheap left-handed OF if available. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/astros/article/chas-mccormick-yusei-kikuchi-perezchica-19895083.php What little room there is in the budget seems reserved for corner infield spots.
  12. 86/75 today with high humidity. That's 11 above the average high and 21! above the average low for 11/7. Even you weirdos that love Summer and want it to stay warm year round can't be enjoying this shit.
  13. High between 81-85 every day the next 7 days, with the exception of a rainy Saturday. Starting to feel like it will just permanently be September in SETX for the rest of 2024.
  14. Just saw that Stogner won the DA race for the combined office that encompasses Loving, Reeves, and Ward. Didn't even realize she was running for something this time around. Also didn't realize that those counties have shared personnel.
  15. Latest models have Rafael getting sheared apart out in the Gulf before it makes a hard turn and hits central coast of Mexico as a tropical storm/depression.
  16. Networks already calling NC Gov for Stein.
  17. I know this dude must still be young, b/c he appears to be out stumbling home from the bars at 3 in the morning.
  18. Currently mid-60's and raining in Houston. First time in weeks that it doesn't feel "warm" outside. Alas, it's not gonna last for us. We'll be back to the low 80's with high humidity tomorrow and Thursday. Generally crappy weather for us the next 6-7 days, with highs 5 above average, lows 10 above average and muggy. Gonna be in Baton Rouge this weekend for LSU/Bama game. Will be in the low 80's and swampy at a goddamn November tailgate. So tired of this shit.
  19. Neither being November nor getting dark at 5:45 can't stop it from being 80 degrees.
  20. Weekend went about as expected out at our place based on camera action the last few weeks. No deer or hogs active during the daytime except for a group of doe that show up to one particular stand every morning and evening. One of the guys hunted with his daughter and took one of the bigger ones yesterday evening. I helped with a late night deer harvesting session for first time in years. Uncomfortably warm and muggy all weekend out at the lease. Poured buckets on my drive home and now it's hot and steamy outside. Just doesn't feel like deer season yet. Cameras picked up some good-looking bucks passing by on both Friday and Saturday night, well after sunset. Until the weather cools down and/or the rut starts, I'm not expecting to see much during shooting hours. Was looking back through the photos on the camera linked to my account and the last time I picked up any daytime feeding action was back in mid-October when that brief front passed through and it dropped to the high 40's. Planning a return trip 2 weekends from now, so hopefully it's at least in the 60's by then.
  21. We got decent rain in my neck of Houston Wednesday night and yesterday morning.
  22. Looking like I might dodge the rains this weekend. Only about 30% chance until Sunday afternoon and I'll be on the way back home by then. Gonna be hunting in short sleeves and swatting mosquitoes though. Thanks, La Nina.
  23. Another weekend ahead where the low doesn't get out of the 70's. Moderate cool front should bring some more storms late Monday/early Tuesday and drop temps a bit closer to average.
