  1. Best W of the regular season, IMO. A rare extra innings victory, on the road, against a good team chasing a division title, and with the umpires and review officials actively trying to have us lose.
  2. Let's see if Hader can strand an inherited runner.
  3. Yankees up 10-1 in the 6th. Probably don't need to worry about losing any ground tonight if we can't pull out the W.
  4. Well now he has a built-in excuse for when/if he does eventually run afoul of the law. "They are only coming after me because I spoke against their tyranny. They're trying to silence me."
  5. I don't believe this is correct. What a colossal crybaby.
  6. The first September cool front typically lasts about 60 hours and then is promptly followed by at least 2 weeks where it feels like mid-August again. It's so predictable. Hot as shit this week, with temps peaking on Friday, when Austin may bump up against 100 again and Houston will be a toasty 95. Looks like the fever finally breaks a week from today.
  7. Knock on wood, but I'm starting to think I may have finally un-fucked my back. Have had recurring problems with sciatica the past few years. Pretty sure I have/had a bulging disc pinching the nerve running down my left side. General stiffness and limited flexibility when I get up in the morning until I've walked around enough to loosen up. Occasional throbbing pain and weakness running down left leg. Usually doesn't last very long, but this most recent stint has persisted for probably close to 6 months. It's not bad enough to prevent me from working out, but certain movements are quite uncomfortable, especially abdominal exercises. Anyways, finally decided to get serious about fixing it. Have watched probably hundreds of videos from various "experts" and finally found some good stretches that really seem to be helping over the past 2 weeks. Also discovered a bunch of stuff I shouldn't be doing that just provides temporary relief and may actually be making things worse. Highly recommend doing so if you're having similar issues. Try out various stretches and see what feels best to you. Whatever you do, try to avoid shit like toe touches or any kind of hamstring stretches that involves bending over forward. Favorite ones so far: 1. Sit in a chair. Place one leg in your lap. Push down on the knee of that leg while keeping your back straight and lean your head back. Hold for 10-20 seconds. Repeat with other leg. Do each side a couple times. 2. Similarly, sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Keep your back straight and raise one leg to where it's pointing out straight while tilting your head up towards the ceiling. Do about 15 reps and then switch sides. Don't bend forward. 3. My favorite, but kinda hard to describe, so here's the video instead.
  8. Yeah. Hopped in the pool around 6:30 yesterday evening once the backyard was fully shaded. Felt pretty damn good. Water temp 88 and there was a decent breeze. Would have been a really pleasant evening to grill out if I didn't have other dinner plans.
  9. Mid to high 90's with little chance of rain for the next 7-10 days straight. Doesn't look like we'll get back closer to average temps for this time of year until next weekend.
  10. I don't even know what to say anymore.
  11. Welp, got the sweep. Too bad Arlington couldn't be of any use. 81-68. 13 games left with a 4.5 game lead. Magic number is 9. I would think 6 or more wins is likely enough.
  12. Bottom of the order making the stars look bad.
  13. Weird, I was literally in the middle of posting something very similar, right down to the 7-7 vs. 11-2. Projected finishes are 88-74 and 82-80, respectively. 97% chance to win the division per Fangraphs, but I don't like that Seattle is once again still lurking in the final stretch with an unlikely but possible path. Wrap up the sweep today, take at least 1 in San Diego, then feast on the Halos again next weekend and we should be sitting pretty comfortable.
  14. Hope everyone survived the Great Bear Market of 9/3-9/10
  15. WTI back above $70 by a few dimes and pennies. Up about 4% on the week despite crashing to $65 on Tuesday.
  16. Looking likely that tomorrow and/or Sunday will be hottest day of the rest of 2024. 96 in Houston. 100 in Austin. Gonna be 95 or above through next Wednesday or so, but things should get a little nicer towards next weekend. Extended stretch of warm, dry, and sunny ahead. Second Summer has begun.
  17. You don't need the batter to score or even get on base in the scenario I'm describing. That's what I meant.
  18. You think $2.25 nat gas is fun, wait til you see $0.25!
  19. Flare, baby, flare!! E&P companies need to be less concerned with "making money" or being "economically viable" and should just produce at max capacity all the time to keep prices as low as possible. I am a very serious individual.
  20. JD says we should be producing 3 million more barrels per day and 2 or 3 times as much nat gas.
  21. Tuesday night game was the perfect example of what I'm talking about. Abreu comes in and fucking dominates, holding the A's scoreless in both the 10th and 11th. All you need is a single run and it's an instant W. You're not sacrificing anything by giving up an out to move the runner over. Him scoring is the only thing that matters and you take home the W. Nope, swing away boys!
  22. My biggest complaint with Espada is having too much faith in his players and refusing to make the "safe" managerial call. Seems like he won't call for a bunt in extras. Won't walk a hot hitter when there's a base open in a tight game. Always tries to wring 1 more inning out of a laboring pitcher. "I trust my guy to deliver in that situation" and then they don't and we end up losing by 1 run.
  23. How will we replace -0.6 WAR in the meantime??!??!
