  1. An exceedingly mediocre team by the standard of the past 7 years whose only saving grace has been playing in the weakest division in baseball. Poorly constructed roster beset by injuries. Terrible record in close games and extra innings. Just not a very exciting product.
  2. At least we didn't tie it up just to lose in extras. 15-26 now in games decided by 1 run. No clutch.
  3. Down by a run. Got Jake, Dubon, and Heyward coming up. Ugh. And M's just took a 3 run lead.
  4. Almost certainly.
  5. ~850 point turnaround for the DJIA. From 40026 a little after 10 am to closing at 40861. VIX chart for the day:
  6. Dumbest loss of the entire season. 2/17 with RISP. You hold the visiting team scoreless 2 straight innings in extras, you should have about a 99% chance of winning. Nope, defeated by the inability to properly field 3 straight bunts. And of course strand a leadoff double in the bottom half.
  7. Welp, that cool down was pretty nice for the 60 or so hours that it lasted. Right back to mid-Summer this coming weekend. Mid 90's Friday through Sunday. Luckily the pool has ticked down a few degrees following the cool front and rain last week and is somewhat refreshing again vs. feeling like bath water. Being that it's still technically Summer until the 22nd, I don't HATE the 91/75 forecast for basically every day next week. Would like to see some more rain though.
  8. A show about a field landman would probably not have much mass appeal. Follow around some 40-something problem drinker as he visits courthouses in scenic locations like Carthage, Big Spring, and Cuero. After he puts in a couple hours, the drama really amps up as he heads to the Chili's in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn he's staying in and attempts to romance the recently-divorced bartender with 4 kids. One episode is just him driving back all day on a Friday to his sad little apartment in San Antonio. But hey, 75 cents a mile reimbursement plus day rate!
  9. RBOB gasoline futures are at a 3 1/2 year low. By October, pump prices will be close to $1 less than a year ago.

  11. Latest spaghetti models have Francine coming in just a little SW of Lafayette. https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/storminfo/06L_tracks_latest.png
  12. Mixed bag on August jobs report. Neither bulls nor bears happy. Headline number slightly below expectations (142K vs. 165K). July revised down to only 79K. However, U3 down from 4.3% to 4.2% and wage growth stronger than expected at 0.4%. Coin flip odds between 25 bps or 50 bps cut in in 2 weeks. 10-year was down immediately after release, but now flat.
  13. Very similar plans. Heading up to my lease south of Rayburn. Low of 58 early Sunday morning. Sitting out by the firepit on Saturday is gonna be heaven.
  14. About 48 more hours of clouds, scattered showers and humidity and then skies should clear as much drier air starts rolling through Saturday afternoon with the arrival of the first Fall Teaser Front. Saturday night through Monday morning will be the nicest stretch of this short-lived treat. Muggier conditions return on Tuesday. Pretty much everywhere in the State will see some cooler temps this weekend, but it will be more pronounced away from the coast. Houston likely to only drop to high 60's, while Austin and Dallas should hit low 60's.
  15. 2nd meter. We had to run a whole new gas line from the side of the house to back where our generator is installed behind the garage.
  16. 2nd gas meter. For the gas line that feeds the generator.
  17. We've had ours plumbed in, wired up, and passed city inspections for about 3 weeks now, but it took until this past Friday to get CP to finally stop by for 5 minutes to install the 2nd meter. Generator guys are coming out today to go ahead and turn it on and test it.
  18. Latest update. The 2 out east are absolutely zero concern. The one in the Caribbean is worth keeping an eye on, but downgraded this morning to 30% chance of getting its shit together. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php
  19. We're gonna win the division by default by being the only team with more wins than losses.
  20. Finally found something new to watch after finishing Kaiju No. 8 (great first season), Solo Leveling, and the latest season of Demon Slayer. I'm currently a couple episodes into Hell's Paradise, which came out last year. Same production studio as Jujutsu Kaisen and the final season of AOT, which you can quickly tell from the quality and style of the animation. Extremely violent, intriguing dark fantasy plot...etc. 13 episodes in first season. 2nd season has apparently been ordered.
  21. Projected dewpoints at noon on Sunday. Temps in the mid 80's with dewpoints in the 50's is about as nice as it can get in early September.
  22. Yep. This is what I do. I always get a printed license when I renew at Academy each August, but also update my OA app each year to have on my phone in case I forget/misplace.
  23. Latest update. Nothing too much to worry about along the TX coast at the moment. That wave from last week is a disorganized mess currently dumping rain on Haiti and the DR. Whatever remains as it heads west looks to be heading towards the Bay of Campeche and continuing on into Mexico. The yellow spot is unlikely to organize and the one off the coast of Africa should stay wellnorth of the Caribbean. Likely a fish storm.
  24. Got in a successful hunt just outside of Sealy this morning. Birds were flying high and fast, but luckily there were a ton of them. Our group of 5 probably took damn near 200 shots, ended up with 49 birds in the truck and lost probably 8 or 9 that fell into the thick stuff. Not a bad way to start the work week after a 3 day weekend.
  25. Give up 13 hits and 6 walks, you're not very likely to win. Get some rest tomorrow and let's get back at 'em on Wednesday.
