  1. 86/75 today with high humidity. That's 11 above the average high and 21! above the average low for 11/7. Even you weirdos that love Summer and want it to stay warm year round can't be enjoying this shit.
  2. High between 81-85 every day the next 7 days, with the exception of a rainy Saturday. Starting to feel like it will just permanently be September in SETX for the rest of 2024.
  3. Just saw that Stogner won the DA race for the combined office that encompasses Loving, Reeves, and Ward. Didn't even realize she was running for something this time around. Also didn't realize that those counties have shared personnel.
  4. Latest models have Rafael getting sheared apart out in the Gulf before it makes a hard turn and hits central coast of Mexico as a tropical storm/depression.
  5. Networks already calling NC Gov for Stein.
  6. I know this dude must still be young, b/c he appears to be out stumbling home from the bars at 3 in the morning.
  7. Currently mid-60's and raining in Houston. First time in weeks that it doesn't feel "warm" outside. Alas, it's not gonna last for us. We'll be back to the low 80's with high humidity tomorrow and Thursday. Generally crappy weather for us the next 6-7 days, with highs 5 above average, lows 10 above average and muggy. Gonna be in Baton Rouge this weekend for LSU/Bama game. Will be in the low 80's and swampy at a goddamn November tailgate. So tired of this shit.
  8. Neither being November nor getting dark at 5:45 can't stop it from being 80 degrees.
  9. Weekend went about as expected out at our place based on camera action the last few weeks. No deer or hogs active during the daytime except for a group of doe that show up to one particular stand every morning and evening. One of the guys hunted with his daughter and took one of the bigger ones yesterday evening. I helped with a late night deer harvesting session for first time in years. Uncomfortably warm and muggy all weekend out at the lease. Poured buckets on my drive home and now it's hot and steamy outside. Just doesn't feel like deer season yet. Cameras picked up some good-looking bucks passing by on both Friday and Saturday night, well after sunset. Until the weather cools down and/or the rut starts, I'm not expecting to see much during shooting hours. Was looking back through the photos on the camera linked to my account and the last time I picked up any daytime feeding action was back in mid-October when that brief front passed through and it dropped to the high 40's. Planning a return trip 2 weekends from now, so hopefully it's at least in the 60's by then.
  10. We got decent rain in my neck of Houston Wednesday night and yesterday morning.
  11. Looking like I might dodge the rains this weekend. Only about 30% chance until Sunday afternoon and I'll be on the way back home by then. Gonna be hunting in short sleeves and swatting mosquitoes though. Thanks, La Nina.
  12. Another weekend ahead where the low doesn't get out of the 70's. Moderate cool front should bring some more storms late Monday/early Tuesday and drop temps a bit closer to average.
  13. For a second, I thought this said "Non-Winter Texas Thread" and that actually made sense.
  14. I believe the BLS report estimated a -45K hit from Hurricanes for last month.
  15. Wife's best friend has been rehabbing a cabin her Uncle owns up on some acreage in the mountains outside Glenwood Springs. Just sent me a screenshot of this hoss of a Mule Deer she picked up on game camera recently.
  16. Sounds right. This is East Texas, so decent bucks rarely make it to a "mature" age in our neck of the woods.
  17. Wish I could have got a body view so I could get a better idea on size and age. Thinking he's pretty damn close to the camera and it's causing a bit of forced perspective to make him look bigger than he probably is.
  18. Crew of about 7-8 on my camera at 9:45 last night, including 2 absolute tanks that were much larger than the rest. I'm heading up Friday afternoon for Opening Weekend and might try to get in a nighttime hog hunt if I can get there in time and conditions aren't too sloppy following the rain. None of the other guys getting there until Saturday so don't really feel like getting stuck in mud, in the dark, all by my lonesome. We had the same solid buck (by East Texas standards) show up at a different feeder at 8:10 last night, exact same time as the night before. I swear to god we're dealing with vampire animals out at our lease. They only come out at least 30 minutes after sundown. I haven't seen any daytime feeding action on the cameras since that last little 48 hour cool front 2 weeks ago.
  19. Middle of next week, maybe. Until then expect days like today. At least there are some actual water droplets falling from the sky in my area. Almost forgot what that looked like.
  20. Was the landman just gonna pull out his wallet and pay for the lease in cash?
