  1. First 2 episodes of the final season premiere tomorrow.
  2. "Switch 2" reportedly releasing Fall 2024. Will be handheld and continue to have a slot for physical game chips. Didn't realize that Switch has been on the market for over 6 years now. Will have been close to 7 1/2 years by the time this new console releases.
  3. GDPNow gets revised about once a week or so, tends to bounce up and down from week to week, and often overshoots the official GDP reading. That said, it was dead on for Q2.
  4. Really starting to break out. Up $7 over the past 2 weeks and almost $14 since hitting $68 this time a month ago. Meanwhile, the rig count continues going nowhere. Actually down about 100 rigs from this time last summer. A lot has to do with natty crashing back to earth and WTI being stuck in the mud around ~$75 for a good chunk of 2023 so far. I also think there's a significant amount of companies that were/are looking to get bought out and are refraining from doing anything other than the bare minimum needed to keep leases alive and cash flowing.
  5. Nerd alert: The original Castlevania series on NFLX was great. First time I ever watched something that could be considered "anime" but I got over that real quick. Top notch voice acting, gorgeous animation, brutal violence.
  6. Paul Reubens dead at 70 after privately battling cancer the last 6 years. RIP Pee Wee.
  7. 104 today, 103 tomorrow for Houston, before returning back to "only" 100 every day through next Tuesday.
  8. Once in a blue moon, I stumble upon a Far Side that I hadn't previously seen before. This one had me chuckling pretty good this morning. The details in the inkblot cards are what really make it land.
  9. OH, good catch, I obviously didn't read in in that way, but makes sense. However, doesn't seem to jibe with the following sentence where he talks about taking it up the chain to the head security guy for the Trump Org, not the head IT guy.
  10. Doesn't sound like any footage was actually deleted. Per the indictment, After De Oliveira told "Employee #4" that "the boss" wanted to have the footage deleted, Employee 4 told De Oliveira that he didn't know how to do so and didn't think he would have a legal right to do so even if he could. The part in italics to me is pretty cut and dry indication that that portion of the indictment came from testimony by Employee 4 himself.
  11. WTI has (just barely) hit a price starting with an 8 for the first time since April 18th.
  12. Does this mean the recession's not coming?
  13. I've never seen a more unflinching forecast. Since catching a couple days of rain back around the 4th, every day for the past 3 weeks has basically been identical, and the 15-day forecast is just more of the same. ~100/80 with slim rain chances, high humidity, and lots of sun. This summer is definitely set to overtake last year in terms of misery. Last July was awful with daily temps well over average, but temps and rain chances started reverting back closer to normal the final weekend, and were pretty close to average in August. At least for now, doesn't look like there will be any hint of improvement through 8/10.
  14. Just booked a weekend of hunts for South Zone dove opener. Trying something new this year. Dad, brother and I have spent a weekend almost every September since around 2012 or so with an outfitter with multiple fields spread out around San Antonio (mainly Lytle and Cibolo). Almost always had stellar hunts those first 6 or 7 years, with really good customer service and reliable limits. Last 2 trips (2019 and 2021) were mediocre at best. Think the outfitter just got way too popular and started booking too many damn hunters. "Guiding" became downgraded to them finding you an unoccupied spot in the field to set up in and that's about it. Those first few years, they would come by and constantly check in and would move you around if things were slow. Anyways, we found an outfitter with some fields much further south. Gonna be hunting out somewhere between Alice and Kingsville this year. Never dove hunted that area before but looking forward to it. Also praying that it's not still 105 degrees in the afternoons by then.
  15. Yeesh. Finally saw a clip from Ukraine on r/combatfootage that I would describe as "tough to watch." Injured Russian laying flat on his back. Drone hovering over him drops 2 grenades, about 1/2 a second apart. First one lands directly on his junk. As he's reacting, 2nd one lands right on his sternum. Once the smoke clears, the dude is laying there, split wide open from ribcage to taint, like a corpse being autopsied, still seemingly alive. Some hacker needs to take over Russian TV channels and air that on a loop. "Stay the fuck out of Ukraine if you don't want this to happen."
  16. Moar. Consumer Confidence hits its highest level since July 2021 in the latest Conference Board survey. "Current Situation" (160) and "Future Expectations" (88) both improved significantly. Moreover, the % of respondents who agreed that "jobs are hard to come by" dropped back below 10%, nearing an all-time low.
  17. Guitarist from Power Trip (RIP) is putting out some more old school thrash metal with his new band.
  18. Damn, them some big mf'ers. Good work. Decided to take a Monday off and heading out to Sabine Lake with my old man at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning. Current forecast has it being dead calm so that's a plus. Not really feasible to drift along the levy wall when that south wind is blowing.
  19. This shit has gotten real old and we've still got another 2 months to go. Woof. October needs to hurry its ass up.
  20. Holy crap, went on IMDB to check how long it's been. When the new season starts tomorrow, it will have been almost 10 years since the last new Futurama episode. Original run (Seasons 1-5): 1999-2003. The Movies (Season 6): 2008-9. First Revival (Seasons 7-10): 2010-13.
