  1. It's established in the 2nd game that the military resorted to wide-scale bombing to try and control the spread. Also, not hard to Imagine what would happen if the entire infrastructure necessary to maintain a large coastal city (locks, dams, pumping stations, sewers) were knocked out for over 2 decades.
  2. Down 7 lbs since 1/2. Almost back to a number starting with a 1. 200.8 when I got back from the gym this morning. Current goalposts: 197 by end of January. 193 by birthday in early March. <190 by Memorial Day beach trip. I'm late 30's, 6'0, and with my build, mid to high 180's is a good weight for me. I'm not trying to drop down to a 32' waist or develop a six-pack. Just want to get back 190 or less for the first time in 4+ years.
  3. I swear Fed Governors get instant alerts the second any encouraging data comes out and sprint to the nearest interviewer to "let's not overreact to these single data points, we're still more concerned about not hiking enough than too much, still need to get more restrictive through the end of 2023. Maybe we can allow ourselves the luxury to even imagine backing off next year...."
  4. Sadly, I've found it a tad bit difficult to snap a pic of my hot dental hygienist when she's standing over me jamming dental tools in my mouth.
  5. Gojira and Mastodon heading out for a late spring tour, including a couple stops in TX. 4/26 Dallas, TX The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory 4/28 Houston, TX 713 Music Hall 4/29 Austin, TX Moody Center
  6. Just got back from dentist office. The tech that used to do my cleanings was super naggy and always trying to push extra services on me. The last 3 trips, she's been replaced by an absolute smoke show (8 face, 10 body) that is super friendly and just cleans my teeth without hassling me.
  7. I really gotta watch this shit one week at a time all the way through mid-March? What are we, cavemen? Gonna be fun watching this as someone who has played both games multiple times vs my wife who went in totally blind. Presuming the show does well enough to get renewed, was curious about how many seasons they could do without totally abandoning the source material, but then I saw this article from Paul Tassi (Forbes' resident gaming/TV reviewer) which presents a pretty feasible roadmap.
  8. Heights BierGarten's new location on Washington looks like they finally had their friends and family soft opening this weekend. I imagine they'll be open to the public imminently. Work buddies and I have been waiting on this for well over a year now. It will be about a 4 minute walk from our office. Hoping they'll have as good of a daily happy hour as the original.
  9. It's not. The Layne's is going into the space next door to Halal Guys. Same owner.
  10. Next cold front brings some rains Wednesday. 1/19-30 shaping up for a bunch of cloudy days of high's in the low 60's, lows in the low 40's. So, typical dreary January.
  11. Season 2 set for an "early Summer" release. Will be 10 episodes (vs 8 for Season 1).
  12. $50 for 5 lbs of crawfish isn't an offer, it's a threat.
  13. Handful of places in Houston opened up for the season this weekend, with the rest expected by end of January. Still tough to find anywhere that has live available. I always keep an eye out on the seafood markets down in Seabrook/Kemah and doesn't look like they'll have any until probably next weekend. I'm highly unlikely to bother with crawfish until March. Not gonna pay crazy prices for undersized catch this time of year. A buddy hooked me up last year with a guy that drives a big refrigerated truck over from Louisiana on the weekends. I'll check in with him in a few weeks and see how prices are looking. Probably at least $6/lb if he's even making trips yet.
  14. Tonight's the night. Streaming available at 8:00 CST.
  15. Day 12. Down to a routine at this point. There are still some good beers left over from New Years in my outdoor fridge and the thought has never even occurred to me to grab one. Scheduled cheat day is tomorrow night. Looking forward to cutting loose a bit, but not looking forward to my first hangover in a while on Sunday.
  16. Essentially, you depress the whammy bar, then hit a harmonic while simultaneously pulling back up on the bar. It's a version of the Van Halen "horse whinny."
  17. Why use a chart from 11 months ago? An updated one would show that line peaking later in the year and then starting a steady downslope a few months ago.
  18. WTI with a 3.35% pop today despite the craziest EIA report I've seen in a long time (crude build of 19.1 million barrels).
  19. Wall Street/Banks consensus is that December CPI reading tomorrow will come in flat or even slightly negative MoM. YoY change expected to drop from 7.1% to 6.5%.
  20. Decent start so far. Not a drop of booze since New Years Day, been eating way healthier and have resumed my weekday gym routine. Was sore as hell after a couple of the first sessions last week, but feeling a lot closer to where I used to be this week. In addition to the gym, been walking my dogs a bunch and have taken the bike out a few times. Weather has been pretty conducive to getting outdoors. 1/2 (still bloated from New Years Weekend): 207.8 1/3 (official beginning weigh-in): 206.6 1/11: 202.2
  21. They've finally reached the Washington intersection on the 18-month long construction they've been doing on Shepherd and Durham stretching from St. Thomas HS to Washington. Putting in new signal lights, crosswalks and re-doing the curbs on the corners. This is SUPPOSED to be the final phase of that particular project. https://www.engagehouston.org/shepherdanddurham I used to always take Durham south from GO all the way to Washington to get to my office in the mornings, but I'm strictly Yale/Heights now until they finish messing with the intersection.
  22. Initial reviews are out prior to the premiere on Sunday. 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/the_last_of_us/s01/reviews
