  1. Sorry yeah, got my numbers mixed up. 6.5 to 5.5.

  3. Been doing a lot of online browsing lately. My 2014 F150 KR is sitting at 84K miles. Been very fortunate to have short commutes the 6 years since I bought it. Still in pretty good shape, no major mechanical issues, but the AC system can barely keep up with Texas summer heat and I ain't dealing with that again. I'd rather let the next owner mess with it. Would prefer to trade it in before I hit 90k. Probably gonna pull the trigger on something in February or March. Planning to buy more or less the exact same truck, just 5-6 years newer and sub 40K miles. Also, downsizing from the 7.5' bed to the standard 6.5' bed. I hate parking my current truck. Found a '19 with 39.5K miles for a good price this morning, but that's bumping right up against my cutoff points for age and mileage. Fortunately I can wait until I find exactly what I'm looking for.
  4. Elon is losing it b/c he paid $44B for Twitter, thinking it was the most important thing in the world, and is pissed to find out that it just isn't.
  5. Jackets and sweaters going back into storage for the foreseeable future. Not seeing many temps below 50 on the extended forecast. Gonna be downright balmy the next 5-6 days.
  6. Natty mega-crash this morning. Down 12% to $4.65.
  7. Still in the High 50's in Houston. Bout to hit the road for Baton Rouge in an hour or so. Getting out well before the wind arrives and won't really experience any freezing temps until I wake up tomorrow morning Sprinkler system drained, exterior faucets all covered, pool has a freeze detector that keeps the pumps running as necessary. Wife been wrapping plants all morning. Not much else to do but hope power stays on while we're away.
  8. Uncle Mike's deal was just officially announced by the team. Presume that means no concerns with his physical.
  9. Being a natural gas trader would put me in an early grave.
  10. Lol, 71/19 is the forecast temperature range for Houston on Thursday. Currently damn near pitch dark outside my office. This is the dreariest Winter day I've seen in a long time.
  11. Weird day today. Walked dogs this morning and it was high 40's and sunny. By the time I left for work it was warming up and cloudy. High 60's and a little muggy at lunch. Now it's heading back towards the 40's and raining.
  12. Just saw a small update. Apparently post-production on Season 2 has wrapped. Likely a Spring 2023 release date.
  13. Intended to play Ragnarok ASAP, but a bunch of shit got in the way between work and vacations. Think I'm finally gonna be able to grab a copy and dive in this weekend. In other news, looks like GOW will be the latest franchise to get a TV adaptation. Production is well underway on an Amazon series based on the 2018 game. https://www.kitguru.net/tech-news/mustafa-mahmoud/god-of-war-tv-show-officially-greenlit-by-amazon/
  14. This is pretty great. Fills the hole left after the demise of Power Trip (but with better production values). Definitely going into the gym playlist.
  15. Only 3M barrels in this first buy, but it's a start.
  16. Absolutely perfect today. 51 and 30% humidity right now. Not a cloud in the sky and hardly any wind. Going be in the low 60's this afternoon. Definitely outdoor happy hour weather. Pretty solid weekend on tap, though not quite as idyllic as today. Looks to be quite chilly Saturday night. Coldest weather seems set to arrive overnight on 12/22 into the morning of 12/23. Gonna be visiting in-laws in Baton Rouge that day. Current forecast showing a low of 22. Don't know if it will get THAT cold, but I don't think anyone needs to worry about an unseasonably warm Xmas weekend.
  17. One of life's underrated pleasures is when the opposite happens. Wake up having no idea of what time it is, check the phone, and it's still 3+ hours from when you have to get up. Of course, this requires that you actually fall back asleep in a reasonable enough amount of time to reap the benefits.
  18. My neighborhood's Constable posted the other day warning about a scam: People are receiving calls claiming to be from their office saying they have warrants for skipping jury duty. They say they can either pay the fine immediately (by purchasing a money order and texting them a picture of it along with pictures of their driver's license and social security card) or they will have to serve 72 hours in county jail. If you choose "fuck it, I'll serve the time" they'll ask for nude photos to "avoid the necessity of a strip search upon booking." I'm sorry, if you do anything beyond laugh or cuss the asshole out, you are nowhere near a position to be in control of your own finances or decisions and need to immediately grant power of attorney to a family member or be declared a ward of the state.
  19. Currently close to 80 in Houston, despite 100% cloud cover and high winds. Temps should start dropping later tonight after showers pass through. Tomorrow will be the first day this month without a high 10+ degrees above average. Then some really nice 65/45 and sunny days on tap for Thursday and Friday.
  20. There used to be a random "would you rather?" quiz site maybe 10 years ago. I still remember one day when the choice was "Would you rather (A) have your city win the WNBA championship or (B) find $5 on the ground?" B won overwhelmingly.
  21. 15-day forecast on Weather.com is starting to pick up that strong front Hate has been talking about. Showing a low of 27 on 12/23 and 31 on 12/24 in Houston. Subtract 3 to get the current numbers for Austin.
  22. Spent the weekend in NYC where it was in the low 40's most of the time. Landing back in Houston yesterday to mid-70's and humid was a bit obnoxious. It has been a steady 15-20 degrees above average for the last 7 days straight. Most of the trees in my neighborhood still have the majority of their leaves and we're dealing with mosquitoes in freaking mid-December. Definitely won't mind an extended stretch of cooler temps, and happy to see that current long-range forecasts currently envision a cold-but-not-freezing Xmas Weekend. That said, obviously hoping that the more aggressive models are overestimating and we're not looking at a deep freeze scenario with power outages and iced over roads.
  23. I love how, after getting laughed off the scene with their comically bad polls a month ago, Trafalgar decided to try and regain some street cred by releasing a last minute poll that just happened to line up perfectly with the polling average. Must have decided not to use their "Secret Hidden GOP Voter Formula" this time.
