  1. How Austin Public Health is distributing vaccines. This should go over well in Austin. https://www.kxan.com/texas-coronavirus-vaccine/how-austin-public-health-determines-if-you-qualify-for-a-covid-19-vaccine/
  2. For anyone planning to travel to Cancun/Playa/Cozumel, here's a link the Cancun Airport website. They have testing on site: https://www.cancunairport.com/covid-19-testing-information.html And a link to testing options in the cities: https://sedeturqroo.gob.mx/ARCHIVOS/TABLA-1-C19-ING.pdf
  3. Matt is so boring it may finally kill my wife's love of this show. She turned if off after about 20 mins last night.
  4. There's a new executive order for travel, including international travel: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/01/21/executive-order-promoting-covid-19-safety-in-domestic-and-international-travel/ The interesting part is section (a), part (ii) - following any CDC guideslines to quarantine after entry into the U.S. Sec. 5. International Travel. (a) Policy. It is the policy of my Administration that, to the extent feasible, travelers seeking to enter the United States from a foreign country shall be: (i) required to produce proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test prior to entry; and (ii) required to comply with other applicable CDC guidelines concerning international travel, including recommended periods of self-quarantine or self-isolation after entry into the United States. (b) Air Travel. (i) The Secretary of HHS, including through the Director of CDC, and in coordination with the Secretary of Transportation (including through the Administrator of the FAA) and the Secretary of Homeland Security (including through the Administrator of the TSA), shall, within 14 days of the date of this order, assess the CDC order of January 12, 2021, regarding the requirement of a negative COVID-19 test result for airline passengers traveling into the United States, in light of subsection (a) of this section. Based on such assessment, the Secretary of HHS and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take any further appropriate regulatory action, to the extent feasible and consistent with CDC guidelines and applicable law. Such assessment and regulatory action shall include consideration of: (A) the timing and types of COVID-19 tests that should satisfy the negative test requirement, including consideration of additional testing immediately prior to departure; (B) the proof of test results that travelers should be required to provide; (C) the feasibility of implementing alternative and sufficiently protective public health measures, such as testing, self-quarantine, and self-isolation on arrival, for travelers entering the United States from countries where COVID-19 tests are inaccessible, particularly where such inaccessibility of tests would affect the ability of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents to return to the United States; and (D) measures to prevent fraud. (ii) The Secretary of HHS, in coordination with the Secretary of Transportation (including through the Administrator of the FAA) and the Secretary of Homeland Security (including through the Administrator of the TSA), shall promptly provide to the President, through the COVID-19 Response Coordinator, a plan for how the Secretary and other Federal Government actors could implement the policy stated in subsection (a) of this section with respect to CDC-recommended periods of self-quarantine or self-isolation after a flight to the United States from a foreign country, as he deems appropriate and consistent with applicable law. The plan shall identify agencies’ tools and mechanisms to assist travelers in complying with such policy.
  5. Drove by HardKnocks last night. It was about 70% full, which is pretty impressive for a Thursday night without football. I guess there's been an unmet sports bar need on the island!
  6. There are new State/CDC requirements for international travelers returning to the U.S: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html I'm wondering if this applies to Puerto Rico. I'm assuming it doesn't but I'm curious. I read the CDC FAQ and they don't mention it.
  7. That does seem a little high. I guess they are counting on being the only "sports bar" in North Padre.
  8. Finished up the two seasons. Lots of fun, blood and craziness. Damn funny.
  9. Just got an email from the school - some announcement at noon about the rest of the week. I'm assuming they are going remote for all students the rest of the week.
  10. They really should have named it the "UT Bevo 40 Acres Showband Hook'em Burger Angus Sliders" to cover all the copyrights at once.
  11. I'm amazed (but shouldn't be) at how many neighbors needed to run errands, go places, etc during the snow. It's a constant stream of cars the last few hours.
  12. Now it's starting to stick on the streets in NW Austin
  13. The IGA in North Padre is now open. Also a sports bar, HardKnocks, opened in the same shopping center.

Got two pizzas from Tony C's last night. One was excellent and the other was good. It's in the high priced/higher quality zone of pizza places. I want a great pizza but don't want to pay $25 for each pizza. I'm with @blacklab in the "get surprised by the price of pizza" group.
  15. So based on the Board voting to give the Superintendent the power to cancel school the week of 1/5 to 1/9, it feels like it could happen. Assuming we stay in Stage 5, what do you all think is going to happen?
  16. Fun and dumb. Has some funny moments. Doesn't break any new ground. Not sure if it's worth the money. Five years from now you'll remember it has Vince Vaughn in it and not much else
  17. I realized back in March and April that everyone in my family has a different interpretation of "quarantine". For some, it meant stay at home unless you had to go to Costco or the dry cleaners. For others, it meant stay at home except for visiting friends. It sucks having to interrogate family to get to the real truth.
  18. Is the game on Wed (against UT RGV) not on TV? Maybe I'm misreading the schedule on texassports.com, but it only lists radio.

Have you all tried Kitchen United Mix? One location that has a bunch of mostly local restaurants so you can order a wide variety of food (ramen and bao and fried chicken and hamburger and curry and ...). It's to-go or delivery. Ordered twice and both times very happy. All of the food was hot and tasty.
  20. Build a bonfire on the beach and cook hotdogs and s'mores. Kids love that shit.
  21. Find a few places you like. Read the reviews for those places. All of the reviews. Every single review. Also read the house rules. Some places are quiet after 10pm. Some places you can party all night.
  22. Anyone making plans for a summer vacation in June 2021? Right now, airfares are still very cheap for June. Considering a trip but it would be dependent on countries being open to US travelers (seems likely by June) and a vaccine that won't turn me into a zombie.
  23. So last night the beach trucks/CC police didn't enforce the 9pm beach curfew in NPI. They have on some nights and not on other nights. Reference: https://www.nuecesco.com/Home/Components/News/News/1271/1169
  24. Here's an article about the beach opening to vehicles in Port A: https://www.kiiitv.com/article/news/local/texas/port-aransas-no-longer-enforcing-the-county-beach-closure-order-mayou-bujan-says/503-a9fbb65c-b2ab-436f-aa6f-a56bdeaa9d26
  25. There's not a lot of good options. The beach was packed last Saturday - it was 4 to 5 canopies deep in North Padre. It was less crowded on Friday and Sunday. So I would definitely avoid Saturday. Some thoughts... Maybe try some of the city streets in Port Aransas like Sandcastle Dr. But I've heard the police are ticketing on streets. The streets at North Padre are closer to the beach. The Windward parking lot is very close.
