  1. For those who have been to El Cuyo, how was it?
  2. Enjoyed it but it felt too long (like many series on Netflix). Should have been six episodes. Dragged in the middle.
  3. Episode 10 was awesome. Small nitpicky question about most towns lacking power. I feel with solar power getting more and more popular nowadays, I feel that more towns would have scavenged panels and had power. But I think the book/series chose to have only the airport have power for story/emotional reasons.

Finally went to China Family Express. Got two meals. One (spicy fish and spicy chicken) was really good. The other (general tso's chicken) was okay. I blame that on ordering general tso's chicken. Portions seem a little small for the price. The main location on Airport has much larger portions for only a few dollars more.
  5. I feel like Kirsten saw a lot of sadness in Tyler and commiserated. I definitely don't think she agreed or liked him at all. I think she saw him as a victim of bad parents and a pandemic who then tried to rationalize what happened and control it. His control involved using religious zealotry to kill the "before" people who "caused" or "deserved" the pandemic. She sees him as another victim (like her) who went in a very different direction.
  6. A classic Petty lyric: Now she's a swinger dating a singer I can't decide which is worse
  7. Really enjoyed episode 9. It was strange, funny, emotional, touching and deer butchering. Everything I want in a show.
  8. A Woman in Love (It's Not Me) live is hard to beat:
  9. To pile on...the thought of being bored in retirement has never crossed my mind. It's more of a "how will I accomplish everything I want to before I die" question. There's so much to do. Even just in Austin there's a lot I haven't done yet.
  10. Bridge nerds... http://www.aspirebridge.com/magazine/2021Summer/Project-ConditionEvaluationOfTheJFKCauseway.pdf
  11. They are supposedly inspecting the underside of the bridge.
  12. I guess it comes down to how much you have to spend to have fun. If you need to buy a new 70k car every 2 years, that's an expensive way to have fun. If your idea of fun is to live in Greece or Thailand for six months, that's a cheaper way to have fun. @tequila - what expensive purchases/lifestyle do you have to fund in retirement?
  13. Had some really good food at Huckleberry last week. Menu is limited and they can run out of certain dishes sometimes, so make sure you check the menu before hand.

Who's been? Hoping to go soon and curious how it was.
  15. A good amount of restaurants in North Padre have outdoor seating. There are also good restaurants not in North Padre.
  16. Enjoying Station Eleven also. Good mixture of pre, during and post pandemic life. May be too abstract for some people. More atmosphere than action.
  17. The new Sons of Kemet album came out a few months ago and got great reviews. I'm a complete novice in the jazz land and I'm really enjoying the new album. A mixture of spoken word, singing and just instruments.
  18. First Raquel is into Michael, then he goes on a date with Isha. For a guy who is afraid to kiss a girl, constantly talks about failures and trashes his room like a toddler, he's getting a lot of attention from the women. I don't understand it. I'm figuring either the show is mandating the "interest in him" and "date" or his last name is Bezos.
  19. A very enjoyable campy movie. Lots of yelling in horrible Italian accents. Lady Gaga fluctuates between a Super Mario style Italian accent and a Russian accent.
  20. Have planned a few ski trips and looking again for March. I've seen that many of the NM and Southern Utah resorts don't have a lot of snow yet. Is that normal and it'll snow there soon? Or is there a risk of those resorts getting very little snow this year?
  21. We tried them. They are very okay. Flavors don't come together.

Anyone tried Project Pollo yet? Vegan chicken and burgers. In the same shopping center as Hopdoddy and Conan's
  23. Also consider talking to Ford (the manufacturer). Sometimes the manufacturer will buy back the car. The dealership may/may not assist with this process.
  24. Malignant is a good bad movie. This is the kind of movie M. Night Shyamalan wants to make but fails at.
  25. I'm planning to retire in 2025. Hoping to travel almost full time starting in 2028, using the theory of travel arbitrage. The insurance issue between 50 to 64 is the biggest question mark for me, especially outside the U.S. If you are in Mexico, you could apply for a permanent residency visa/card, use their basic universal health insurance and supplement with private insurance (purchased in Mexico).
