  1. I feel like Kirsten saw a lot of sadness in Tyler and commiserated. I definitely don't think she agreed or liked him at all. I think she saw him as a victim of bad parents and a pandemic who then tried to rationalize what happened and control it. His control involved using religious zealotry to kill the "before" people who "caused" or "deserved" the pandemic. She sees him as another victim (like her) who went in a very different direction.
  2. A classic Petty lyric: Now she's a swinger dating a singer I can't decide which is worse
  3. Really enjoyed episode 9. It was strange, funny, emotional, touching and deer butchering. Everything I want in a show.
  4. A Woman in Love (It's Not Me) live is hard to beat:
  5. To pile on...the thought of being bored in retirement has never crossed my mind. It's more of a "how will I accomplish everything I want to before I die" question. There's so much to do. Even just in Austin there's a lot I haven't done yet.
  6. Bridge nerds... http://www.aspirebridge.com/magazine/2021Summer/Project-ConditionEvaluationOfTheJFKCauseway.pdf
  7. They are supposedly inspecting the underside of the bridge.
  8. I guess it comes down to how much you have to spend to have fun. If you need to buy a new 70k car every 2 years, that's an expensive way to have fun. If your idea of fun is to live in Greece or Thailand for six months, that's a cheaper way to have fun. @tequila - what expensive purchases/lifestyle do you have to fund in retirement?
  9. Had some really good food at Huckleberry last week. Menu is limited and they can run out of certain dishes sometimes, so make sure you check the menu before hand.

Who's been? Hoping to go soon and curious how it was.
  11. A good amount of restaurants in North Padre have outdoor seating. There are also good restaurants not in North Padre.
  12. Enjoying Station Eleven also. Good mixture of pre, during and post pandemic life. May be too abstract for some people. More atmosphere than action.
  13. The new Sons of Kemet album came out a few months ago and got great reviews. I'm a complete novice in the jazz land and I'm really enjoying the new album. A mixture of spoken word, singing and just instruments.
  14. First Raquel is into Michael, then he goes on a date with Isha. For a guy who is afraid to kiss a girl, constantly talks about failures and trashes his room like a toddler, he's getting a lot of attention from the women. I don't understand it. I'm figuring either the show is mandating the "interest in him" and "date" or his last name is Bezos.
  15. A very enjoyable campy movie. Lots of yelling in horrible Italian accents. Lady Gaga fluctuates between a Super Mario style Italian accent and a Russian accent.
  16. Have planned a few ski trips and looking again for March. I've seen that many of the NM and Southern Utah resorts don't have a lot of snow yet. Is that normal and it'll snow there soon? Or is there a risk of those resorts getting very little snow this year?
  17. We tried them. They are very okay. Flavors don't come together.

Anyone tried Project Pollo yet? Vegan chicken and burgers. In the same shopping center as Hopdoddy and Conan's
  19. Also consider talking to Ford (the manufacturer). Sometimes the manufacturer will buy back the car. The dealership may/may not assist with this process.
  20. Malignant is a good bad movie. This is the kind of movie M. Night Shyamalan wants to make but fails at.
  21. I'm planning to retire in 2025. Hoping to travel almost full time starting in 2028, using the theory of travel arbitrage. The insurance issue between 50 to 64 is the biggest question mark for me, especially outside the U.S. If you are in Mexico, you could apply for a permanent residency visa/card, use their basic universal health insurance and supplement with private insurance (purchased in Mexico).
  22. All of the drama about the tropical storm and the "evacuation". The soundbites about how they weren't sure if there would be a paradise to come back to. And then the damage after the storm - a palm frond in the pool.
  23. Just got back from a week in Arles. It's a cool little town with lots of history, entertainment and surprises. Some Arles ideas: - Obviously the two thousand old arena. In Sept they are hosting some events that seem to be bullfighting/art/music all together (?!?): https://arenes-arles.com/programme-2021/feria-du-riz-2021/ - There's a farmer's market on Wed and Sat mornings. Lots of stands selling food, bread, fruit, etc. Use this website for details on the markets (plus markets in other cities): https://www.jours-de-marche.fr/ - Luma Arles is a new "cultural center" with an interesting building and art - https://www.luma.org/en/arles - Inside an old rock quarry, there's an art exhibition of Cezanne and Kadinsky. They project and animate the paintings on the rock quarry walls and floors. It's amazing and overwhelming: https://www.carrieres-lumieres.com/en - Visit the Pont Du Gard - the 2000 year old roman aqueduct over a river. It's huge! You can also rent kayaks upstream and kayak under it. Aqueduct: https://www.pontdugard.fr/en/ancient-work-art Kayaks: https://www.kayakvert.com
  24. France has finally created a process for non-EU citizens to get a health pass. The "show your card to a French pharmacist" approach seemed to have a lot of gaps. New process: https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/coronavirus-advice-for-foreign-nationals-in-france/coronavirus-statements/article/applying-for-a-covid-certificate-if-you-were-vaccinated-abroad-procedure-for We were there last week, before they had a process, and we were always wondering if we would get turned away because we only had the CDC vaccination cards. We only ended up getting turned away from one restaurant. We were able to go to restaurants, outdoor exhibitions, etc with just the CDC vaccination card. I'm assuming that will change now that they have a process to get the digital health pass.
  25. Seems like they aren't labeling/captioning the contestants as much in previous seasons. Bachelor used to go overboard in reiterating everyone's name over and over and now they barely name them. They either expect the fans to have good memories or they don't care anymore.
