  1. The Zone, wow....I think that opened when I was in middle school or high school. When I was a kid, we had a place called Green Acres in Weslaco that was a ton of fun. Now it's a Sonic.... There was a place in McAllen called Gorilla George's where we had all of our birthday parties before a big Peter Piper opened up in Weslaco ha
  2. The merger and name change happened the year after I graduated undergrad from UTPA. I don't know the details, but something about how making the medical school happen would be easier if the two universities merged into one "new school". When the Vaquero name first came out, I think it was almost universally hated by those on campus. Why? The powers that be actually held a survey for students and alumni to vote on a mascot. They then completely ignored the results and settled on Vaqueros. I believe "Phoenix" was the most popular mascot choice followed by retaining Broncs. It really felt like it was some old white dudes trying too hard to be cultural and settling for the first Spanish word that made sense. Students did not like it. Feelings might be different now as new students are coming in that weren't attached to the Bronc mascot and weren't a part of that process. Speaking of stadiums, being from Weslaco, I'm partial to Bobby Lackey Stadium. Seats just shy of 15,000 I think with some nice press facilities, new turf, and a great scoreboard and media team. Easy access right off of the expressway. It is about 30 minutes from the Edinburg campus though.
  3. He was in Weslaco for a year after Vela. Weslaco hired him after interviewing several candidates. He did a really good job of implementing a spread offense in 1 year for a team that had been running the Slot T for at least 10 years by that point. After his 1st season, he, suddenly and without a real great explanation, just up and resigned "to pursue other business opportunities". Less than a year later, he's got the TAMUK job and first thing that he does is offer his QB from Weslaco.
  4. I remember seeing a Reddit post from someone that was supposedly a punter during the Strong years who said Strong would tell the specialists to go kick on their own on the other field during practice.
  5. "I looked at you, I'm gonna knock your block off, life goes on. We're the University of Texas, you the other people, it's just that simple." Even after he was fired, go through his twitter and it's obvious he's still passionate about the university. If he says things like that^ to our players and recruits, hell, sign him up.
  6. Near unanimous if Kirk Bowels still has a vote.
  7. I've heard he's arrogant, power hungry, slow (he walks with a staff for goodness sake!), and lives in a lamp. Do not want.
  8. Can't get hungover if you don't stop drinking.
  9. Speaking of hyperbolic, when he was in high school, weren't you the one that once said he wasn't good enough to take a snap at Texas and would transfer before he ever played?
  10. You're still a student? There's no way I could afford a trip to party in Miami when I was in med school. Since graduating though, there's a different story.
  11. In terms of pass interference, there is no pass interference once the ball in the air has been touched by someone. As noted above, it had already been touched by AC. If there had been a return on the INT, I guess you could potentially call that a hold on the return, but there was no return, so that's moot.
  12. If you remember that game though, we were very clearly outcoached. And when asked about that possibility in the post game news conference, he actually looked insulted that anyone would even think of that possibility.
  13. Sarcasm meter run out of batteries? Really need to make that sucker rechargeable.
  14. Was it Iowa St some year when he said, "I don't think I would ever say that we were outcoached"?
  15. Can you ask your top level source when the Brockermeyers are signing with Texas?
  16. I didn't think it was awful. I'd give it a perfectly average. Plot/Storyline felt a little empty, but other aspects of the movie were fine. The invisible plane is a classic Wonder Woman thing. In the comics and in the Lynda Carter show. Naturally, it doesn't make much realistic sense, but it's a comic book movie. Supposedly in the comics it could fly at speeds up to 40 miles per second.
  17. The problem is, no one is opting out of playing South Carolina. Replace South Carolina in whatever bowl with Army, watch that opponent all of a sudden start talking about opting out.
