  1. Burnt Ends!!! $$$
  2. High School at least, maybe sooner. I remember 9.95ers calling him that when he was being recruited
  3. I mean, couldn't you say the same for them? I don't watch many Arkansas games, but I doubt their environment is normally like that. And this was a BIG night game for them.
  4. Proud T-shirt fan here, but I'll tell you my story. Some background first: I'm from the RGV. Both of my parents went to Pan American University as it was known back then. My dad says he was a UT fan back then, but he was much more a Cowboys fan, so we grew up watching the Cowboys moreso than the Longhorns. My Mom's family however....puro Aggies. Yup, you read that right, all Maroon and White. My grandfather was a farmer and my uncle, wanting to follow in the family business, decided to go to A&M to pursue agriculture. While there, he walked onto the football team and was a member of that 12th man kickoff team of all walk-ons. He was on that cover of Sports Illustrated and everything. So, Mom's family, all Aggies. There are even baby pictures of me in A&M gear (vomit). I remember having a bumper sticker above my bedroom window that read "aTm Gig 'em Aggies!" and thinking every night as my elementary school self went to sleep: "What the fuck is Gig em and what in the everliving fuck is an Aggie?!" I was very confused. Anyway, as I got a little bit older and more interested in sports, I started watching games on my own. Cowboys, Spurs, Astros, Braves, whatever I could find. Scrolling through the channels on New Year's Day, I happen to come across none other than the 2003 Cotton Bowl Classic. Texas vs LSU. I knew enough at this time to know that both teams were good and it would probably be a fun game to watch. Rooting for my home state Longhorns, I couldn't get enough. 4 catches, 142 yards, and 2 Roy Williams touchdowns later, the burgeoning WR in me had a new favorite player, a new favorite team, and Burnt Orange blood running through these veins. Haven't worn Maroon since. A few years later, my older brother was accepted to and attended our state flagship. Went to my first game as a high school sophomore, where I begged my parents to get us tickets for the Alamo Bowl. Went to my first game at DKR as a high school senior on a school trip fully funded by UT (vs. Rice coincidentally) where, after the game, we had a "lock-in" in Gregory Gym. When it came my turn to go to college, although I was accepted to UT (and still have that acceptance letter), I stayed home to attend my parents alma mater, then known as UTPA (hey, I was still in the system and we didn't have a football team, so I could continue to root for whoever I damn well pleased). It was cheaper and I had a guaranteed path to a top Texas medical school through a pre-acceptance program at UTPA. Needless to say, I continued to bear my "T-shirt fan" status with pride. Didn't get a chance to make it back for a game pretty much throughout all of college and med school. Finally got back to a game when I drove up to LA when I was living in San Diego to watch us take on USC a few years ago. To this day, I try to make it back to town for at least one game with my family each year (pre-COVID). And now, my friends, now, you know the rest of the story. Hook Em 🤘🏽
  5. It looked to me like Card panicked. He escaped pockets too early that didn't need escaping, ran laterally to try let a WR come open, and didn't hit the open deep throws. Casey looked like he went through progressions, but also when he escaped, he didn't run laterally. He got moving forward to get some yards and at least try to keep us on schedule and not behind the chains.
  6. 3-0 sounds about right. Thoroughly dominated since the opening whistle. I know we are thin, but very disappointing 90 minutes.
  7. Ok, two moments of miracle.
  8. Gonna take a moment of miracle now to steal an undeserved point out of this
  9. Fuck, yup, that was definitely a handball
  10. In the first half, we had 3 touches in the penalty box. Most recently in the 14th minute. Lucas has managed some good individual work this half and gotten a couple of shots off, but that's it. CP dominating midfield, just lacking the finishing touch. Real good save from Lloris at point blank range kept it at 0-0. Royal also getting worked over pretty well on the right, usually by Zaha.
  11. Nevermind, on replay, looks like yellow for both is the right call
  12. Did Zaha just throw a punch? Definite yellow for Tanganga for that challenge, but if Zaha threw a punch, that should be a red
  13. No attacking creativity and final ball into the final third has been sorely lacking today
  14. Just DM'd the link and Surly Horns tweet to some buddies of mine that I know follow the team but aren't in any of the boards. Got a few responses already impressed by the deal and ready to jump on board!
  15. RGV/Weslaco Panther legend and the Lifetime Longhorn passed away late last night. Thoughts and prayers to his family and our Weslaco Community. For those that don't know about him, he was the starting QB for DKRs first conference championship in 1959. In addition to playing QB, he was also the team's starting DB, punter, kicker, and punt/kickoff returner. I believe he was the first longhorn to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Read a story in our newspaper a few years back detailing one particular RRS game against #2 OUsucks (1958 I think?) where he threw the tying touchdown pass, kicked the go ahead extra point, and then picked off the OUsucks QB to seal the game. Dude was a baller. (Edit: found a summary of the game that Barking Carnival did a few years ago: "Lackey was spectacular on both sides of the ball. Aside from throwing the winning touchdown, he recovered a fumbled punt, made an open field tackle on Bobby Boyd with a minute left in the game when it appeared the All American was touchdown bound, and then he sealed the win with an interception") Before that, he was a First Team all state football and basketball player for Weslaco High, leading the Panthers to the 1955 state semifinal (football). UT Hall of Honor, RGV and Texas High School Sports HOFer. Here's the announcement from Weslaco ISD. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=4254326824644628&id=719985588078787
  16. Not the kind of action he was referring to, chief.
  17. Are unicorns indigenous to the Central Texas area?
  18. Switch that. Minus is the favorite. Let's say the outcome you bet on is -200. If you bet $200 and that outcome happens, you win a $100 profit. +200 If you bet $100, you win a $200 profit. Or, to use the same numbers as above, if you bet $200 and win, you get a $400 profit.
  19. I love this sunshine description of their theoretical best o line and why they're supposed to be good. LT: Consensus all American... At a different position. LG: He was good in high school. 😄 C : Umm.... His family was really good. RG: Shoot this is getting hard, we need to say something...ummm... This dude big. RT: Started at a school that was a dumpster fire.
  20. They keep beating home this "4.5" speed of King's (queue Jennifer Lawrence yea ok gif). They really think Jimbo is excited to see this "tantalizing aspect of his game"? The same coach that said a QB running means he doesn't understand the playbook enough? Yea ok.
  21. Also, as much of a Jimbo fanboy as she is, I'd be surprised if there was ever an off-season where she didn't think they were going to win it all.
  22. Reguilon's response 😂
  23. Let's go!!! COYS!
