  1. Not according to this article by the Chicago-Tribune, citing the Wall Street Journal https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ny-uswnt-outgenerates-usmnt-game-revenue-20190618-vpccjc5si5ejrlm3xkri2mt4yu-story.html "The USWNT generated nearly $51 million in revenue (mostly from ticket sales) from 2016-18. In the same time frame, the USMNT generated just under $50 million." From the Washington Post: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/07/08/are-us-womens-soccer-players-really-earning-less-than-men/ "Nike chief executive Mark Parker reported the jersey “is now the number one soccer jersey, men’s or women’s, ever sold on Nike.com in one season.” Although, interestingly enough from the same article: "The Fact Checker obtained the new (collective bargaining) agreement, which took effect in April 2017. Using the same 20-game scenario (if, hypothetically, each national team played 20 friendlies per year), we calculated the player on the women’s team would earn $28,333 less, or about 89 percent of the compensation of a similarly situated men’s team player. If both teams lost all 20 games, the players would make the same amount. That’s because the men earn a $5,000 bonus when they lose and the women have a $100,000 base salary. USWNT players have previously said publicly they believed this was the best agreement they could get without going on strike"
  2. When did Earl Campbell ever wear a purple jersey? If I went into a store and saw a purple #20 Campebell jersey, I would not think it was an Earl Campbell jersey. It's not an "Earl Campbell" jersey if it's something he never wore. If there was a gold and green jersey football jersey with "Texas" on it, I doubt that would sell very well either; because it's not Texas, just like a purple jersey is not Earl Campbell. You can't separate the two; they're forever linked. But also, not every school has the same aura that Texas does. You don't think Randy Moss gear (like sponsored receiver gloves) would sell better than his Marshall jersey without his name? Steve McNair gear vs. unnamed Alcorn St. jersey?
  3. From his Draft Overview on NFL.com: "Strengths: Rugged, durable frame. Led the nation in catches and finished fourth in yardage. Texas 100m state champ (10.27) in high school. Has potential to separate on deep balls. Thrives with catch-and-runs. Runs like he hates humanity as he blasts through tacklers. Roughs up clingy coverage. Good sideline awareness to drop the feet inbounds. Slows and settles into zone windows. Can pluck throws with hands or nestle them in traffic. Very reliable, soft hands."
  4. I thought so too, but it seems like the G league already made it's final offer. Maybe he's trying to leverage them for more, but I don't see why the G League team would care that much. I'm not sure having GB3 on their roster or not really affects their bottom line all that much... And they're not exactly competing for any sort of championship.
  5. Ugh, that's 4am for me. I guess I'll catch the cliff notes from you guys when I wake up.
  6. That's the only tweet from Mandel/Feldman/The Athletic over the past few days that even slightly mention A&M. Is that question really that upset over this? The amount of time they spend being thin skinned knows no bounds.
  7. As far as shoe contracts go, I don't completely understand them as I haven't been able to find many available through a quick google search, but I do know that not every player (much less every rookie) gets their own signature shoe. According to ESPN, only 17 active players had a signature shoe line in 2019 and only 9 rookies have ever had their own shoe (before the 2019 draft): Lonzo Ball (BBB), LeBron (Nike), Stephon Marbury (AND1), Allen Iverson (Reebok), Jerry Stackhouse (Fila), Grant Hill (Fila), Shaq (Reebok), Michael (Nike), and Hakeem (Etonic). So there won't be any Greg Brown sneakers in Chicago or Houston. How do shoe companies make money off of these players that they pay $1million per year when they don't have a signature shoe? I have no idea. But they somehow do. Maybe he signs with Nike and they put him in a Kyrie shoe, he gets drafted in the lottery and has a great rookie season. Now kids that are Greg Brown fans (friends that knew him, Austin kids that play in the same AAU program, any of his 250,000 instagram followers, fans of whatever team drafted him) are asking their parents to buy them Kyrie shoes because Greg Brown wears them. I don't know. Rookie shoe deals are entirely based on projection and I would guess that many of them don't go past 2-3 years so that the companies can offer an adjusted second contract rather quickly.
  8. I would hope that most of the kids that take the G league route sign with an agent; I guess they don't necessarily have to, but I would guess that most of them will since agencies will be banging down their door trying to sign next year's lottery picks.
  9. Zion signed a 7 year $75 million dollar shoe deal coming out of college (set the record for rookie shoe deal). According to this, LaMelo Ball, after not going to college and playing in Australia (Australia, not some top class league) has potentially already been offered a $100 million dollar shoe deal (plus the use of a private jet). https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bulls/potential-no-1-2020-nba-draft-pick-lamelo-ball-reportedly-offered-100-million-sneaker Yea, I'd say he gets something in the same zip code as Zion. It doesn't matter whether you go to college or not. The shoe companies run AAU and know who the potential lottery picks are when they are still in high school. It doesn't matter where they go after high school, Nike and Adidas already know who the stars are. If you're expected to be a top 5 pick (having succeeded in either college or some sort of pro ball), they'll know exactly how to watch you/track you wherever you are and you'll get a good shoe deal, and if you don't, then you hired the wrong agent.
  10. Yea, but if goes to college for free, he risks getting injured and costing himself millions of dollars in draft position. If he gets injured in the G league, at least he got paid and has a shoe contract, etc that can somewhat make up for the loss of draft position.
  11. Shoe companies will sign future lottery picks. Jalen Green is already considered to be the 2021 #1 pick and would've been the #1 pick this year. I think others probably project Brown to be a top 5-10 pick. These guys get very competitive offers for endorsements because of their status and publicity as a lottery pick. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2887051-report-jalen-green-likely-to-get-7-figure-shoe-contract-after-joining-g-league "According to Nick DePaula of ESPN, the guard will have "several offers" from companies with a contract that will top seven figures per year. He is set to sign with Aaron Goodwin, who negotiated rookie shoe deals with LeBron James, Dwight Howard and Kevin Durant."
  12. Sorry for the poor quality pic, but I don't have this hatchet with me right now, so these are pictures that were sent to me that I have on my computer. This hatchet was the gift given to everyone who bought a ticket for the USMC Birthday Ball last year.
  13. More than he'd make playing for Texas. Plus the potential for a shoe deal and endorsement contracts.
  14. It usually is, but the G-League is creating a "Select Team" that is unaffiliated with an NBA team and is meant to focus on development of young players and will not play a full G-League schedule or be counted in the G-League standings. I posted this on the basketball thread, but x-posting here: Back in 2018, the NBA announced that starting this year, high school graduates would be able to play one year in the G league for $125,000 before being draft eligible instead of going to college: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/18/sports/nba-g-league-one-and-done.html However, that structure was recently revamped in order to convince top players not to go overseas to play professionally before they were draft eligible (ala Lamelo Ball) https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29043828/sources-top-high-school-player-jalen-green-enter-nba-g-league-pathway Jalen Green, one of the top 2020 prospects is expected to make around $500,000 plus will be able to sign shoe and other endorsement deals. They will get placed on a Select Team, probably in SoCal, unaffiliated with a current NBA squad, that will focus on development, mentorship, life-skills, etc and will play against G-league teams (that don't count for G league standings), NBA academy teams, foreign teams, etc. Excerpts: "NBA commissioner Adam Silver and G League president Shareef Abdur-Rahim have worked to eliminate two massive hurdles to convincing players uninterested in college basketball to pass on the lucrative National Basketball League of Australia by providing a massive salary increase and a structure that doesn't include playing full time in the G League." "...yearlong developmental program with G League oversight that will include professional coaching, top prospects and veteran players who will combine training and exhibition competitions against the likes of G League teams, foreign national teams and NBA academies throughout the world, sources said." "The season could include 10 to 12 games against G League teams that wouldn't count in standings, sources said. The primary objective will be assimilation and growth into the NBA on several levels -- from playing to the teaching of life skills. The salary bonus structure in Green's contract, for example, is expected to include financial incentives for games played, completing community events and attending life skills programs coordinated by the G League's oversight of the program, sources said. The NBA's plan is to stock this team with veteran pro players who would be willing to balance mentorship of Green and other prospects with the personal opportunities that might emerge because of the intense NBA scouting exposure that will come with these teams." "Without the restrictions of NCAA amateurism rules, players are free to hire agents, profit from likenesses and pursue marketing deals from sneaker companies worth hundreds of thousands of dollars."

  16. I play on Steam/PC (because I just moved and my XBOX won't be here for another 4-6 weeks). I'm pretty rookie level, just really started to play in the past couple of weeks. Would love to play! Gamertag: DocBoots81
  17. Obviously, this has passed now, but I'll be following in case interest perks up. I recently got restationed and my switch is with my packed shipment, which won't be here for probably another 4-6 weeks.
  18. Don't think I saw this posted. Milroe to play in the UA All American Game
  19. We have a coach who named his kid Maverick.
  20. I mean looking at the 3 coaches he has hired, softball was at #1 in the country, Track and Field was BigXII coach of the year, and he retained the interim tennis coach that won the national championship. I don't think it's fair to say that he doesn't expect championships. But he also has to deal with the finances; $10 million dollars to send Shaka packing at this snapshot in time with everything that's going on would hurt the AD more than it would have otherwise. And as mentioned above, donors probably aren't lining up to pay to fire Shaka when they don't even go to the games regardless.
  21. Yea.... None of this is even close to being correct
