2022 San Antonio Spurs Offseason Thread -- We're Young, Scrappy, and Hungry
slightly off topic but drawing on the spurs super fans encyclopedic knowledge base: anyone know the spurs player that had a bullet wound in his shoulder and was a very weird looking dude? maybe early 90s.

NBA 2022-2023 Season Thread
To be fair to the Lakers, Beverly, Walker, and Schroder should be upgrades over what they rolled out last year. If Nunn has a comeback year their second unit could be pretty competitive. It's still hilarious to see their, at best, 4th best player being the highest paid guy. A guy that does not play defense, can't shoot past 15 feet, and has lost the burst that let him attack the rim with ease in his early years is going to make almost 50 million US American dollars this year. It's absurd.

Ayton publicly hates his coach, Chris Paul is old af, and the whole organization is in turmoil. Worse situation than bkn last year imo.

I'd flip Philly and Cavs and Clippers and Nuggets but otherwise like your prediction. Clippers got older, not better. Eventually Kawhi's injuries are going to take a toll. I have more faith in the comeback of a couple young guys for Denver.

I hate that KD's personality is equated with Kyrie's idiocy. I get that they both might be detrimental to building a reliable and cohesive team but they are not the same.

Celtics and Clippers both seem overvalued. Cavs, Grizz, and Mavs all feel like potential 50-win teams, while the Nets could easily be around 45. If I had to pick one dark horse though, I'm going with the Pelicans. I really like the team they have built. Ingram still has potential to take another step, CJ gonna CJ, and Zion could be a potential difference maker. I'm not predicting championship, but anything less than a first round playoff win would be disappointing.

He was gesturing at Helm while talking to Card as if he was telling Card he should have gotten Helm lined up where he was supposed to be.

Or get him out of the game. Put someone over there that they have to devote attention to.

I don't hate the overthrow to Bijan rather than throwing late across the middle to the right end as much as taking the sack needlessly.

2022 NBA Offseason Thread — Trades, Free Agency, Firings, Sacramento doing dumb things, etc
I understand how very little I have in common with dudes driven and gifted enough to reach the highest levels of professional sports as players or coaches, but got damn. Just keep it in your pants until you get home to your hot ass model actress girlfriend wife. That's literally all you have to do to maintain the opportunity to earn a hundred million dollars over your career. Why does that seem hard to do?

On the other hand, he didn't do something stupid like hold his guy and negate a big play.

LOL they were lining up a guard in a number 9 jersey out there. And he was killing them.

Yeah, like I said, only the first one was even a decent throw, but some of that was on Worthy too. And the deep ball is just one thing a QB needs to do. If he's good enough at the other things, this team can continue to win with him back there.

Once again actually watching the replay of the game versus the vibe of the game thread is like listening to Tupac vs this lady. I've read several complaints about the lack of deep balls and how that automatically means Card sucks. Card I believe had 3 deep shots to Worthy in the first half. First one could have been caught, maybe even should have been, though not a perfect strike by any means. Second shot Worthy made little effort to adjust to the ball but it was not an accurate throw. I wondered if Card was trying to make the short and inside ball position that so often leads to a PI call when the DB plows through the receiver trying to come back to the ball. We'll never know b/c again, Worthy made no effort. Third shot was a bad throw that Worthy made a strong attempt to reel in. This was a bad miss by Card b/c Worthy had beat the defense soundly. Other than that Card managed the game pretty well and never cost the offense. Placement of the ball on swing passes and screens could be better but they're mostly fine. His burst on that one long run up the middle on a scramble was surprising. Sark should definitely plan to take advantage of his wheels more.

CFB coaching carousel
Auburn >>>>>>> Nebraska. Even with the delusional fan base. Factor in Nick is realistically not coaching more than another 4-5 years and Auburn could get to be nice.

Clint shoots 53% from the line, Turner is over 75%. So he gets to the line at a lower rate but he's far more effective there. The rate is because he's shooting more than 5 feet from the basket a lot more than capela. Win shares is a pretty worthless stat for comparing individuals. Turner is clearly a better player than capela.
