    his arrived what!?
  5. I told my boy, first day of practice kick someone's ass or become someone's bitch. Then everything will be all right. Incidentally that's very close to what my mom told me the first day of kindergarten. True story.
  6. You misspelled succinct.
  7. Can't find a roster from previous years to try and track down parents. We haven't really been in the AAU scene so not sure how to find out contact info like that. My wife decided it would be good to expose the boy to "people from different backgrounds" so he's playing. Gonna work on running a zig zag pattern, duck and cover, playing with a vest on in the week or two before practice starts.
  8. No tough guy just facts.
  9. You should be worried about being a reckless fucking idiot.
  10. other guy had quicker release, Coach was more accurate.
  11. I have worked against every instinct to not go full Earl Woods/Marv Marvinovich on my kids. But my son is a decent athlete and has shown some promise as a basketball player, especially in this past year. He tried out for an AAU team and was offered a spot. I googled the coach and it turns out he shot a guy outside a night club 5 years ago. Other guy got his thang out first and fired first. Coach had to go to his car, get his gun, and come back. Could not prove it was Coach's gun that fired the fatal shot because I guess so many people were popping off. No conviction. No other legal troubles or questionable shit popping up on the google. Should I let him play for this guy?

Yeah this Lakers game is almost unwatchable. The pelicans are not really playing well but are dominating because the Lakers are playing like the school for the blind.

You're going way out of your way to blame everyone but the only person responsible for his effort and conditioning.

I can't believe Harden has such a hard core white knight. His style of play has always been an affront to the game. He spent two years intentionally playing like dog shit and letting his body go. Can you imagine last year if he had been even marginally in shape and played to his capacity? Maybe all 3 of the stars get more rest and he and Kyrie avoid the injuries that ultimately wasted an MVP level season from KD. Harden's hamstring injury is definitely the kind of injury that consistently taking care of your body can prevent. I fucking hate the guy.

Don't make special rules for the end of the game. Just treat the clock like soccer. Let it run the whole game, refs track injury/bullshit time and you play an extra period with that amount of time. Refs update coaches at the end of each quarter how much extra time has accrued. No extra time is accrued in the extra period or in any overtime period.

Well, I think he's actually inside the FT line a couple feet but that's not relevant. Watch the actual motion he's making. He's very inconsistent. Shooters don't have to have the same motion as other shooters, but their shot must be internally consistent. That internal consistency is the hallmark of practice. Ben is over there doing a very basic shooting drill looking like he's just doing it for the first time. Compare that to KD. You could overlay the film for each individual shot and the frames would be seamless. I read or head someone say about musicians that the difference between an amateur and a pro is that an amateur practices until they can get it right; a pro practices until they cannot get it wrong. KD's a pro. Simmons is an amateur.

Has Ben Simmons ever shot a basketball? This sure doesn't look like a guy that's been working on his weakness.

I coached middle school basketball a couple years. Every fucking time they were trying to cut back over to the shooting line. There'd be one kid in the layup line every time I turned my head for 5 seconds.
  20. Not all of them

as opposed to the absolute stud they replaced him with? GTFOH.
  22. Imagine thinking that someone who is paid multiple millions of dollars per year for the express purpose of motivating a handful of star athletes aged 18 to 23 should be allowed to blame the 18 to 23 year old star athletes for their own inability to motivate the athletes.
  23. Yes, it's definitely the kids' fault.
  24. You can't define a great motivator based on qualities of their audience. It's like saying Greg Davis was a great OC for QBs named Vince and Colt but the only marginally superior talents couldn't implement his genius. The ability to generate buy-in is the literal defining characteristic of a motivator.
