  1. We could never eradicate polio in this day and age. Anyone applauding Kyrie for his foolishness is a fool by extension and should be ashamed.
  2. Shocked that the nets are taking a hard line with Kyrie. I agree with the stance just didn't think they'd do it.
  3. KD easily my favorite player to watch. The most pure baller of my lifetime. Not going to be affected by any rule change b/c his game is not about cheating the game. I know I'm late to the knuckleheads podcast party, but the episodes with Gervin and Dr. J are amazing. Dr. J offers Gervin as a good KD comp.
  4. Is Ayton really on the level of Luka and Trey, though? I mean congrats on not being a bust but he was not the engine for that team.
  5. I actually think your grammar was correct. Ignore "Do" and rephrase it as a declarative sentence: You still use your abacus and tell time by the sun. No comma is required because you have two predicates for the same subject, a compound predicate. If you repeated the subject you would need a comma: You still use your abacus, and you still tell time by the sun. In short, sorry slorch, grammar smack fails.
  6. I haven't watched much football this year, but you really think in a head to head game UTSA would beat TCU, TAMU, and Baylor? If that is reality then Traylor really should be in line for a bigger job.
  7. I like the motivation behind the changes but the curry example and the rat face sooner example are lame. Steph jumped into the guy but away from another guy. He's not allowed to try and avoid a defender? The sooner gets his whole arm grabbed by LaMelo. If you want to say it's not a shooting foul, cool, but it's a basketball move and should be a defensive foul.
  8. If you told me I'd get 50 million bucks to not have sex for two years I'd be in that monastery in a fucking heartbeat. Don't mean I don't like sex a lot. It's just a practical decision. It's not even selfish. That is generational wealth money.
  9. The Spurs starting five is going to have an average age of like 23. They're not winning a ton of games. I don't think that means they're untalented. Dejounte Murray and Derrick White are only approaching their max development over the next 2 years and both are valid candidates for second banana on a championship team. Zach Collins is not without talent. His question is health and recovery from injury, but the talent is there. Keldon has talent on both ends. He certainly did not look outclassed on the Olympic team. Primo, Samanic, and Vassell are all still just projections more than substance but each can be called talented enough to be a contributor for a playoff team *if* they continue to develop. Lonnie is your store-brand Westbrook at this point but if he turns out to be a more athletic Avery Bradley that's still a guy that can be part of winning basketball. (FWIW, I'm surprised by how astute the Bradley comparison appears to be based on stats at the same age.) The doom and gloom interpretation is that the Spurs have exactly zero star players. The silver linings interpretation is that this roster is crazy young, the org has a reputation for developing players to maximize their potential, and they have zero bad contracts on the books. When a star comes available they will have some assets and cap space. It's just, well, this isn't the year. On the future cap front, 2022 the Spurs projected to have $48M in space, roughly tied for 4th with Detroit in terms of space available. Only Orlando is realistically going to have more space since New Orleans and Memphis are both going to have to spend at least a third of that projected space to keep Ja and Zion around on max extensions. Memphis will also have to pay JJJ. The Spurs are probably in good shape for 2025 is what I'm saying.
  10. In 2021? That's nuts to me but okay. I feel like a top 5 player should be able to take over a game at any moment and change the trajectory of the game. I saw too many games last year where Lebron tried to do so and came up short. I absolutely take Jokic over him and would be very hard pressed to accept taking him over Doncic after last season.
  11. So you're starting a team from scratch and you get to pick from this group of ten, knowing the others are not going to be available for your second spot, which of these guys do you not take before him right now? My 6 - 10 are almost interchangeable for me b/c much of their value depends on their ability to stay healthy and contribute. That said, assuming they are all healthy, this is the order I'd have them. I'll concede to maybe being too high on Doncic. Maybe.
  12. No issues with the ten, but the order is a little off. Lebron ain't no gotdayum top 3 player right now. We know Shaq is a casual, but watching any of last season showed you how much he has lost in terms of explosiveness and desire. 10. James 9. Embiid 8. AD 7. Harden 6. Fuck Kawhi Leonard 5. Curry 4. Doncic 3. Jokic 2. Giannis 1. KD
  13. I can't think of any team that gets demonstrably better with Simmons if they have to give up their second best player to get him. If PHI is willing to just take picks, then maybe somebody bites.
  14. He's not really better than any of those players including the unnamed picks.
  15. Not sure that I agree with your Tier 2 as locks. I would lump tier 2 and 3 together as "probably making the playoffs but seeding totally up in the air". I just don't see a ton of separation among those teams. The Sixers have the best individual player but are a potential implosion. The Heat will go as far as Bam can take them really b/c Butler's on the wrong side of his physical peak. Bulls are an unknown b/c they've really remade their roster but could be pretty good. Knicks and Hawks both fall into the same boat for me: was last season a sign of things to come or a mirage? The Celtics did nothing to really get better this off season so their ceiling is the individual improvement of their core trio of Smart, Brown, and Tatum.
  16. I don't know. I'd say it depends on how Dinwiddie is coming off the injury and whether Kuzma can be a consistent 3rd option.
  17. My bad I conflated him with Heard.
  18. He lost out to Tyrone swoopes. Was that racially motivated? If he thinks losing out to a top 5 all time QB at Texas was racist then I don't care what he thinks. I don't think Chiles was referencing race at all.
  19. Recruiting is now going to be much more about the NIL stuff than W-L.
  20. Except it doesn't. Outside of crimes of moral turpitude he's not getting fired after one year.
  21. If I'm Sark, I start the younger player this year even if I know he's not better than the older guy because I know I don't have to win the next 2 years as long as I win in years 3 and 4.
