  1. That last pic of the 3 dudes and that dog, is it alive or stuffed? I mean wtf is that? shades of Frankenweenie.
  2. I had heard that about Coeur D'Alene because that Aryan Nation group of fucktards was based there. Fortunately, did not see anything resembling hate/racial type of bullshit on our visit. The people I encountered were so friendly it kind of caught me off guard. You get up in the remote areas though, I have no idea what's happening.
  3. The trip went really well, just a low key, chill week out of the Texas heat. I had not been before and can see how some compare it to how Austin was 30-40 years ago. I will say it is very clean, traffic was not an issue and there is either no homeless issues, or they are in an area we didn't make it to. The greenbelt that runs through town is awesome. We covered different sections of it while walking, checking out some smaller museums and getting food/drinks. The food and drink options around town were great. It wasn't on a level like New Orleans but still suited us just fine. The Basque Block Deli has a Wednesday& Friday Paella special, with the guy cooking on the sidewalk. That was a fun lunch, and I learned a little about the Basque and their influence on Boise. A small German deli, Alpen Hause? I think, has great sandwiches and German beer on tap. I can't remember the names of all of the brew pubs/ restaurants downtown on 8th we hit, but there's quite a few and enjoyed each one we tried. Either we were just lucky on our choices or it's hard to find a bad meal there. it was Halloween while we were there, and there was a city sponsored party at the old penitentiary. The city has converted it into their botanical gardens, which is both kind of cool and odd. We didn't stick around to long since it was geared towards kids. But the families that were there looked like they were having great fun. We made it to the National Forest past Idaho City on hwy 21 then cut over past Lowman before coming back on hwy 55. We hiked some trails around the Payette River which was the best scenery of the trip. There have been a few fires recently that left a lot burned areas which is unfortunate, but not uncommon there due to lightning strikes. Stopped at Locking Horns in Horseshoe Bend on the way back for burgers and beers. Nice deck right by the Payette, but what stood out was they use old beer kegs cut in half for urinals. That was a new one for me and I'm an old. The War Hawk Aviation Museum was cool visit if you're into military/ history stuff. Planes, cars and tons memorabilia including a Hitler pin cushion, my personal favorite. Oh, and I didn't get stuck in COTA traffic, so I have that going for me.
  4. Bump. I had a trip planned to North Carolina later this month, needless to say had to change plans and will be making our first trip to Idaho instead. Renting an Airbnb in Boise for a week and will do easy day trips from there. So, any recs for restaurants, beer/wine tastings, trails/outdoor stuff and general cool shit to do would be appreciated. So, looking forward to the trip except for the flight out of ABIA. We're flying out on Southwest Saturday 10/19 at 1:00pm. I know that UT vs Georgia is that day but did not even consider that is F1 Week at COTA since I don't follow racing. Well, until after I booked everything. Oopsie. From Driftwood to ABIA is usually an easy drive, but while F1 is going on, how bad is it?
  5. I have to go in for my renewal since I did it online last time. License expires in October, so I figure there's plenty of time. I was not expecting the shit show that this has become. The south Austin location showed no openings until first week of 1/25. This was last week. Trying to find openings at outlying cities from Austin was a crap shoot, they give you like 3-4 minutes to confirm an opening before it expires. So, I would get logged off and when I got back on previous openings were getting taken fast. Finally, I was able to get an appointment at the Taylor location for next week. It's no joke regarding making appointments months in advance.
  6. It sems like there was talk of a Tony C's coming to the Drip area, but that was before covid. No idea if there's any connection with that restaurant group or not. I did try that Slice Street or Street Slice Pizza ( can't remember which it is) in the strip center behind McDonalds on Hwy290. The two slices I had were good enough. Small place, like 2-3 tables inside and some picnic tables in front of the place. Owner seemed like a good dude. Mostly people getting pies to go. No beer/wine sales, which was disappointing.
  7. Looking for any updates and the live stats link has stopped after 2 games into doubles.
  8. So aggy vs corn is happening. Does Trev Albert even show up knowing what a shit show that will be? Especially if corn manages to win.
  9. Just brought home a few items from The Great British Baking Co. They're on Mercer, just off of RR12. The pot roast, chicken curry hand pies and sausage roll were all good. Also got cookies and a sticky pudding for later. They have daily specials besides what's listed on their website. Overall, a good option for the area. The Mighty Fine Burgers in Belterra Village has closed. Rumor is it will become an Italian place.
  10. Is it me, or does this look like the staff from a used car lot in Killeen?
  11. Not fat dude, the preferred term is HEB Positive. It's a condition. Jelly roll out front should have told you.
  12. Cougar High rocking the Oilers uniforms vs UTSA. Doesn't seem right. Thoughts?
  13. I signed up for the free trial on YouTube TV just to watch the Open and football. Hoping that Spectrum and Disney get their shit together and quit screwing their customers over. I'm not overly optimistic on this, however. Not sure which of these two is in the worse financial shape, or how long it can drag on. Sucks big time.
  14. I love reading this type of story. Seems like a hell of an adventure. Reminds me of Malaria Dreams, a travel book by Stuart Stevens I read in the early 90s. Similar storyline but their trip was through the CAR instead of the Congo.
  15. So, are ASU and UU already planning their exit from strategy from the BIG 12? Or is there one? They sure as hell did not want to be affiliated with, as they like to call it, the "Truck Stop Conference." I could see them being two turds in the new punchbowl given the statements made upon joining. Fuck 'em. Hard. Repeat.
  16. Tuned in to watch some of the races at Saratoga on FS1. Joey Freshwater just finished 2nd. This amused me.
  17. He was great in so many rolls/characters. I think the first movie I saw him in was the Dion Brothers back in the mid 70s, which had some hilarious scenes. RIP to a great one.
  18. Making my first visit to DC later this month, 25th to Oct.2nd, so have been reading thru this thread for sage advice. The first 3 days will be at the Wyndham Oxon Hill in the National Harbor area for conference/workshop related events. Have done minor research but not looking as promising as other parts of town on cool things to do/see. There's the Casino, Waterfront Park and Air Force 1 Replica of some sort, so really need some recs here. The next 4 days we have an Airbnb in Capital Hill and a free schedule, so we'll do the normal first-time touristy things and try out a few of the restaurants/bars that have been mentioned here. Looks like the Nationals have a home series with the Phillies so that might be doable. No rental car, the tales of parking nightmares have made me choose to go Uber, Metro, cab or whatever instead.

    Tinnitus

I have it in both ears. Like many others went to numerous rock concerts,
  20. Yep, they were calling student names out to cross the stage and got into the B's when the rain hit. They were being overly optimistic trying to get this done last night. So it's rescheduled for tonight at 8:00, we'll see .
  21. Dripping Springs High moved the graduation ceremony time (at the football stadium) tonight from 8:00 pm to 6:00 in an attempt to avoid the rain. We shall see. Should I wear my waders?
  22. Saw the last 15 minutes or so of singles play, NW was looking pretty solid.
