Seeing all of these old candy brands from my childhood and did a search to see if they still make them. Apparently Candy Warehouse has them all. Even still have the candy/gum cigarettes for aspiring young smokers. Who knew?
Love me some Werther's. Got to have a bag or two of those for road trips. I'm such a whore for 'em though, as soon as one melts I'll be reaching for another.
So was it determined that Leaning Pear is the best/most reliable nice restaurant in Winberley proper then? I need closure , and not to thread jack but would like to hear more recs for far SW Austin along Hwy.290 west to Dripping Springs and surrounding area. I'm hoping for a good beer/food venue to take over that big ass Trudy's that shut down.
I like the dark chocolate bars that are spicy and with caramel/sea salt. Brand doesn't matter, wife will buy a bunch of these from World Market, Trader Joe's etc. Same with chocolate nuts and cashews in particular. Still enjoy a Butterfinger too.
Don't know the HCS owners but have a mutual friend who is in real estate and mentioned they were considering or may have bought the tract of land behind them. Will be interesting to see what they do with that if true. After they expanded to put the bar and outdoor area in I don't think I've been back in the original building. Good selection of beers and consistent food/service every time we've been. Nice days can be crowded but hey, grab a drink and chill , people watch and such.
I remember seeing a post on the old site where someone etched a really detailed train and bridge out of the lead in a carpenters pencil. Thought it was pretty cool.
That's all I got.
Red wine, preference to the jammy zins etc.
Dry hopped IPA,Pale ale
Irish Whiskey, 1- 2ice cubes
Scotch, neat
Old Fashioned, pretty much the only sweet drink I care for
Usually did happy hour or dinner there once a month, and it has been noticeably less crowded with each visit. Had lunch there two weeks ago and there were maybe ten people , but to be fair there isn't near the amount of businesses around it like the north location. The construction does suck but I agree that there is more to it than that.
Did not know they stopped making Michelob, though it's been a long time since I looked for it. Even Michelob Light was good for hot days out on Lake Travis.
Also can vouch for Hood River be a great place to visit. We rented a place there for a week in August and used it as our base to do day trips all around the area. Never made it to the coast because there was plenty to do close by and decided we would do a coast only trip another time. I will be watching for coastal recs as well for the next trip, in the mean time there is some basic info to be found at TravelOregon.com. Not insightful Surly lowdown info but helpful none the less.
Went to Salty Sow for the first time last night. Thought it was decent, somewhat limited menu and with good drinks, the beignets and homemade ice cream might have been the best part of the meal. If we go back it may be just for the happy hour menu.
I quit caring about the Cowboys 20 years ago and rarely watch their games. But holy shit the play by play on this thread is like crack. Can't.Stop.Reading.
So by all means, proceed gentlemen.
