  1. Stones and Stevie Wonder . Ft. Worth, whenever Exile on Main Street came out. Traffic and Little Feat. Also Ft. Worth(two of the most talented rock bands I've seen over the years)mid 70's ? And because I saw them just before they passed and are true legends: Chet Atkins(not rock, just greatness, the shows with Mark Knopfler are timeless)Ray Charles, B.B. King and Roy Orbison.
  2. Had to be in Fredericksburg at 7:30 a.m. today, so it was too early for the bikers when I left Driftwood. On the way back in the afternoon it was a different story. They were all over the place, up and down Hwy.290 and every RR,FM road that intersected it. They got to be a boost for the local economy though, hell there were bikes at every restaurant, winery, and bar I passed.
  3. Picked up some Squatters Double IPA while at HEB today. Don't know anything about their brewery but it is a nice change of pace from all of the citrus IPA's I've had lately.
  4. If you would of said peyote I might have believed you.
  5. I give up, what's in that bowl?
  6. Have yet to see them live, but they will be in Austin this summer and I plan on going. Hopefully the live suckage is in the past. You would think as long as they have been together they would have their shit together on stage.
  7. So, Counting Crows not being mentioned must mean they are just for us olds?
  8. Just got a new hummingbird feeder, probably a little more excited about this than I should be. Love watching those little bastards do their inflight slap fight over who gets their spot on the feeder. Never seen one peck the shit out of the other, but I'm watching just in case.
  9. I hate it when that happens. So, Things That Annoy You thread?
  10. It was bad enough to have to play Tech for a 3rd time, then to end up playing indoors and traveling to an alternate site really is crappy. But, to be fair it was the same for both teams. Hope they pull a miracle comeback.
  11. On the positive side after the fuck/murder digging a shallow grave for her wouldn't take much effort.
  12. Thanks for recs txhorns, been to some of these and will try others since I am there 3-4 times a year. Not to thread jack, but I usually end up trying places around Midwestern and the campus area and noticed there is still a Pelicans there. Had forgotten all about that chain, used to eat at the one by Ridglea Mall in Ft.Worth back in the 80's. Also played tennis at Hamilton Park, and you being a Surly poster I will assume that one of those places in that neighborhood must be yours.
  13. Have not been but they opened a location in the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Caves . Anybody tried it?
  14. Not familiar with all his work but my hands down favorite is Wilderness of This World from Human Remains.
  15. Anybody else tried the HCF brand of pseudo Girl Scout Cookies? I had the chocolate mint and caramel cocoanut ones so far and they taste pretty much the same as the GS ones, with the HCF brand being $1.40 a package. In true HEB fashion they put the cheap stuff on the bottom shelves so. you have to get down low to reach them(not an easy task for all cookie consumers).
  16. No, my wife's family is from Henrietta and Scotland, her mom is in a retirement home in WF now. So I am there a few times a year. Wife just got back tonight from visiting her. Man that drive from Driftwood is a beating, 5 1/2 hrs. up Hwy.281.
  17. Straight from the chef Sal Monella cookbook.
  18. Parkway Grill on Southwest Pkwy. is a good spot. Sports bar vibe with TVs,s all over the place. Burgers, tex-mex, cfs, all the usual suspects. It can be packed at times and loud but hey, for the area it's pretty solid.
  19. Used to work with a guy from Indiana, we'd go to lunch and get a cfs, which he liked, but didn't like gravy. Instead would put rouqefort dressing on it. Tried to break him of this heinous act but no dice, he wanted no part of any type of gravy. Stopped going to lunch with him on cfs day. The end.
  20. Yeah, Imma talking sausage either with or without jalapenos, I like both. If I have a yearnin' for something sweet maybe get a cherry or peach added to the box. However, it seems that all kolache places have damn good fudge and /or brownies so for me that's always something to be on the lookout for. Downside is I gotta do some serious workouts or might as well just pack that shit right on your gut.
  21. Do kolaches count? I mean you just walk in and point at what you want and then you're out of there, so that's fast. So many options and the places that do the bread right, mother of god I'll eat 'em till I'm 'bout to pop.
  22. Nice win. Checked the scoring and a lot of close matches but Cal was gamey . Miss. St. is pretty good no? I believe they knocked off aggy a couple of weeks ago.
  23. Got a little carried away there.
  24. You should be hearing the siren call of the Shart Thread any moment now.
  25. They say it in the coffee/espresso hipster thread I do believe.
